Yes, you will need an 11 mm socket and a way to grip the cap without scratching it. A pair of large pliers with a piece of rubber to protect the finish while holding on to it. I took mine apart the first day so it came off easily and I just have it on there hand tight now. There is an oring that keeps the threads in place. But all in all I am able to get down in there and clean that part. juice gets down there and tarnishes that area.

Sky, I thread the connector by hand. I use my left hand to keep the cap and I thread the connector with a plier. If you are strong enough unthreaded as I do so will not scratch the cap. But as Vapn said, put a cloth on cap if you grab it with pliers:)

Noo it needs to be something more than cloth. Lisa scratched hers with a cloth and a pair of pliers(She is still crying over it). So I would use something like a piece of rubber. They make those things you take the lids off jars with that work well for this.

oh yeah and the set is $15. I just bought one when I went but couldn't find them listed separately. I'm sure someone makes them cheaper or you could just borrow one from a plumber friend. They also work great to change those pesky and expensive shower heads without scratching them up.

That is a great tip on the strap wrench. I keep one of those in my kitchen to open jars. I have used those flat jar openers for the GG a lot. It keeps you from scratching your GG.

I've been using Brasso for the past couple of months to clean my contacts on my mods. Works good on contact points in removing oxidation, but tends to be too abrasive for aluminum. I went out and bought some Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish last night for my GG stuff. Works really good!!! Leaves the GG very very smooth and feels as if there's a very thin layer of coating left on to help it really shine. It is a paste and must be applied and rubbed off. Not as clean to use as Cape Cod cloths, but works great for me. You can use Mothers on aluminum, copper, brass and anything that oxidizes. If after applying, you don't see any black on your cloth, don't use Mothers. Mothers is strictly for metals that oxidize.

Mothers is specifically recommended by the manufacturers of the Silver Bullet as being excellent at cleaning aluminum.

I know, Brasso just cleans but doesn't really polish or leave a protective film behind. I just finished polishing my AFS for the first time too. WOW!! What a difference it makes having a glorious sparkly AFS on top of a brilliant shiny GGT. This thing is so nice, I'm afraid to touch it!!! I mean, just awesome. Emonty, you'd be proud of how I'm looking after your little precious. It looks sooo good! I'm very happy right now! Can't wait for that GGTS to arrive. All that brass shined up is going to be so sparkly!!!

I've never been one to get a mod and drool over how it looks. Usually, if it vapes good and consistent, I'm happy. But the GG is a different story. It cleans up so great that it looks like a fancy piece of art. I really like this stuff more and more everyday.

Here's a photo ( crappy photo at that ) of the GGt with a brass T-tip on it

Couldn't agree with you more BoomBoom.... After I clean mine I wash my hands real good so I don't get finger prints on it.

Ummmm, I think wood would disagree....he would likely nominate himself as the most deserving because he wants sooooo bad to have the GGT!!!!!

Results of the Cape Cod polishing cloths. These things work great. They remind me of the Never Dull wadding stuff but the cloths are like felt and they are saturated well. It gets down into the grooves of the button very well and leaves a nice protective coating behind to help keep the tarnish from coming back so soon. I just got my can of 12 cloths today and shined up all my devices with it quickly and easily. And the cloths were all I used on them too. No real hard buffing just wipe on and rub off. So simple..... You need to wear the latex gloves that come with them though. Just check out the shine they put on my Trans. Amazing and very good find there Stormy!!! Thanks again!!!!!

I was SOOOOOO impressed by this that I made a wholesale order with the manufacturer of these Cape cod polishing cloths. I'm expecting them in any day so we can all enjoy this kind of finish on our GGs. :):) I'll let everyone know when they arrive in my store for sale.

I received my sheet of rubber the other day  and cut off a small section to put inside pliers to hold the cap so I could safely unscrew the centre section and hey-presto, worked wonderfully to help the pliers grip the cap with absolutely no chance of slipping or damaging it. Very hapy bunny.
used some slightly abrasive polish on the scratch to the cap which made it disappear somewhat but I'll have to give it another go to get rid of it entirely cos it was quite a deep scratch. :(
