NO!!! I got the DSE 901 and the only time I get a metallic taste is if the atty is dry!
Did you get prefilled carts? because from what I've noticed...and it hasn't been long for me...but prefilled aren't as good as what u get from using blank ones (or just use a little fibre fill from your pillow in the empty cart that came on ur cig)!!!
Don't give up Lots of people on here can help (most probably can even do better than I LOL)

The stuff they put in cartridges sucks imo.. It is pretty terrible.

My advice,

Get a bottle of good juice and drip on your atty and vape that way.
A world of difference. I would pull out the filler material and drip 3 drops on the atty. Put back on the mouth piece without the filler in it and see if it isn't better.

I wish someone would have told me that when I first started and messed with filler material in carts. Such a messy mess.. lol

Always have a good PV, Atty and Good battys and you will see all the difference.

I have the Wicked Stick V3. They said it's the same Joye product as the Joye stick or Janty Stick but I got it from Totally wicked. The batt basically lasts all day and the first cartridge lasted all day but I opened them out of the cellophane and I think they dried out before i used them. I'll be getting Mar-Boh E-liquid from Viking Vapor probably Monday.

Boil the Atomizer??!! Isn't there circuitry in there?

I've done it but it's not necessary. I've only had to clean my atty when the draw gets a bit hard and vapor starts to drop off. That usually takes a couple of weeks of heavy use. I just rinse and dry burn, no boil.

The metallic taste is from the cart not wicking well. The atty is fine.

I use a 801, not a stick, but the atomizer is similar. It sounds like you are running them a bit dry.

If you want to use carts what I've found that works best for me is to do the highping mod (check the modders section of the forum) but I usually put a straw behind it (I cut the straw to about 3/4 the length of the cart).

Edit: Will answer the cleaning question too.

I clean my atomizers with PGA most of the time. I take a small cup and put just enough PGA to cover the attys and let it set for 30 minutes or so, shaking it lightly every time I think of it. Then I blow them out, dry burn them if they were really gunked up and put them back into use. I usually do this with new atomizers before using them because I really hate the taste of the primer they come with.

fresh atties have that factory liquid to keep wicks wet. Its supposed to be nic free, flavorless liquid, but it aint flavorless :p I blow it out, and it makes for only a draw or 2 of off taste. As far as cleaning, a good espresso steamer works like a charm, and fast too:)
Sounds like you were needing to work off the factory liquid with a metallic taste.

What does "metallic taste" mean to you. Yes it's important. Everybody has a different opinion of what they are tasting, even when things are going right. It could be that it needs cleaning, more juice, better vendor, bad batch, primer taste etc.
As for cleaning, I've never done anything but running under hot water for a minute or two. That works for ME, but there are DOZENS of people who do different things from the normal to downright bizarre.

On the mod front, I found (again just ME) that the spring mod is the best way to get a nice consistent flavor without the filler taste, burning taste, nasty taste that you get with other methods. Each person has their favorite, only experimentation can show you yours if you even want to mod. You don't NEED to as the stock methods work well when the instructions are followed. Most modding is done to do one of two main things, 1. save money 2. play

E-juice makes a world of difference. Even from the same source. Some do their job and others are like that lazy cousin everybody knows but nobody wants to talk about.

*side-note: Most importantly, don't get discouraged in the beginning, understand it's a hobby and a journey, like everything new it's going to take time to find your way around it. I tried just about everybody's tricks and opinions to find what works for me, and I'm still doing it. Fun as hell too.

okay. well people put the whole atomizer in water? or just the tip? It is a dry atomizer right now because I'm just using the cartridges. but when i get my juice I'm gonna drip. I don't think I want a drip tip because I don't want to try and drip all the way down through all that without hitting the walls of the devise. So Ill just use a blank cartridge and take it out to drip. It is fun!

I run the tip under hot water, but it's fine to dump the whole thing in. Some people boil the tip in water for a few minutes, some use alcohol, some vinegar, etc. etc.

Just friendly advise, get a drip tip, they're cheap. If for no other reason than to go ahead and test it out. I'll be surprised if you don't love it! I was hesitant too, but you can't drag it out of my hands now.

I really just started all of this recently, so I'm NO way an exert user, but I see what you wrote from others all the time about the overnight or several hour drying. How important is it in terms of losing an atty? I dry mine by blowing them out, doing a quick thread rub (why does that sound dirty?) and then a little tap, then right to the battery for a dry burn. Is this wrong and am I taking a chance on ruining my atty in your experience?

Only thing I want to add...if you do wash your atty....let it dry over night at least AND blow it out when u go to use it...water remaining in atty not good! LOL
