Hi, folks,

I have another newbie-ish question. It's "newbie-ish", because I actually started vaping about four years back, but gave up after a year of fiddling with carts and dying atomizers drove me to smoke more than I had before...

So now I'm trying to figure out all this new technology.

I love the idea of Fluxes, and some of them worked really well for me. In fact, I am even considering starting to clean them, lazy bumette that I am... But that's for another post.

Meanwhile, I've noticed that some Fluxes work really well, while others either burn everything relentlessly (even with fluffing and lifting or removing plugs), or don't produce much heat or vapor from get-go. I have one of the latter ones, a nice purple one, right now. I can coax a little vapor out of it, and the taste is good, but I couldn't figure out why it's so cool.

This new batch is 2.6-2.8 Ohms, so it should work good on my three-way eGo.

I am thinking that maybe the resistance on this one is higher than it's supposed to be. And maybe the ones that burned were too low (the burning ones were from a 2.4-2.6 batch).

So I think I'd like to invest in a meter, and start checking them ahead of time, to spare me some aggravation.

Can someone recommend a reasonable one and advise me how to use one on the Fluxes? Where to do you put the probes? (all sorts of dirty jokes come to mind here, but never mind)

Cheers,
Briar. :vapor:

even the el cheapo meter from harbor freight (under 10 bucks) will do the trick. one lead on the outside threads the other on the center pin. remember to check first to see if it goes to zero - touch the probes together and see the reading. if its not zero you will have to subtract this from your reading on the fluxo. example - when you touch the leads together it says .2 so you subtract that from the final reading if it reads 2.8 then its really 2.6
hope this helps

Soooooo... I gave in and ordered a ProVari tonight. I even went all out and decided to order one of those decorated bottom plugs. (Now, should it be a flower, or a compass rose?.. Definitely not a skull - too "manly").

I've been eyeing that thing for the longest time anyway, and I really do love the Fluxes, especially the new purple ones. It would be nice to adjust the voltage to the resistance of each individual Flux. (OMG, things that I do for my Fluxes... )

You may want to get the Ext bottom cap instead so you can use 18650 Batt's ! The 18490 or 18500 are nice to make it smaller but you will get a lot more run time using the 18650 Batts.

Oh, I definitely will - next paycheck. :) I wanted to have both options anyways. I'm really looking forward to this new toy. I was hoping to get a MonkeyBoxx, but apparently it's not being made anymore. Wooden bottom-feeders look so cute... But the ProVari looked more practical.

Well, I just got my ProVari delivered. Can't believe it only took three days!!! And, OMG, what a difference. I haven't even taken if off the factory standard 4V yet... The original purple Flux which sent me on this quest is now vaping like a champ. It was supposed to have been 2.8 Ohm, but is actually 3.0. I guess the highest setting on the 3-way eGo is not actually 4V but lowers, because on the ProVari this 3.0 Flux is doing wonderfully well. And it only took me $210 to get it working right.... ROFLMAO

On the other hand, all the other Fluxes I got from this box work great on everything. That's a pretty good record, IMHO.

Woo-hoo! :) :) :)
