It’s said that ecig use among middle and high school students has increased 900% between 2011-2015. It seems the emergency is with law enforcement. If that number is indeed true then something needs to be done. Law enforcers must be ashamed that they have allowed this to happen. That seems like a good place to start, law enforcement, because it seems middle & high schoolers care little about the law so a ban will do little to stop these hell raisers.
Or the more likely scenario is the “facts” used to establish this “emergency” are not true. This ban is based on a metric ton of bull$hit and hopefully someone smacks Michigan back into reality before the rest of our great nation follows them into this madness.

How long will these legal challenges take? My guess is that they will take long enough that it won't matter give the PMTA deadline in May.

If I weren't finished already, I'd be feeling a serious sense of urgency about that right now.

Good points! Maybe this vape ban fever and the negative reaction to it will spark a new dialogue, one in which facts, rather than scare tactics and governmental overreach will begin to become known to the public? The commentary I heard today may not lead to any improvement for vaping in a legal sense, but it's hopeful legal insight I hadn't heard before.

Is Schadenfreude spelled with one "n" or two?
Just one.

A ban on the import of juice from out of State was part of the Indiana law. It's legality was questionable as was how they would enforce it. The outcome was that juice vendors just stopped shipping to Indiana, for a short while until the law was reversed. They have no incentive to break the law and risk expensive consequences. Just saying it is enough.

Winning by intimidation.

And India is banning all e-cigs. All.
Because there were 7 deaths in the USA and India fears of vaping for their youth.

Don't let facts get in the way of irrational thinking and response.

Seriously?

There were 19 deaths from tobacco in India....

In the last 60 seconds.

India loses 10,000,000 a year to tobacco.

Yes, 10 million!

I don't understand rule 5 the way it is written.

Hey @Infernal2, what do you make of post#25? (also see 36)

It seems really questionable to be honest with you. It seems like they are trying to regulate an out of state product and I'm not really sure what their mechanism is supposed to be to enforce it?

Rule 6 is a DOOZY.

That was my impression of rule #5 too (on both counts).

Thank you Sir.

#6 I'll have to re-read.

Meh. My local (still) vape shop has a loooooong entry with the register way in the back. Prolly more than 25 feet from the front window, which if I remember, doesn't have much of anything advertising wise displayed anyway. And if it does, I ignored it. Small-area retail...yeah, that would suck.

Think "gas station."

Yeah I know. Small area.

Still, I don't even see cig advertising anymore, yet cigs are commonly available at gas stations.
Meh.

We ex-smokers know where to get juice (for now). As to the kiddies, they're better off not starting. So...
I'm not freaking out about the advertising thing. I do admit, though, that historically BT was probably the worlds best at it. Just objectively. Not morally or factually, just objectively.

The rules are being pushed stupid fast because the NY and MI governors are in a publicity race to claim first in the nation. This would be a good measure of their concern for the public welfare.

A Michigan vape shop owner comments in a news story that the emergency order is likely to be stopped by temporary injunction for a variety of reasons. I believe the Michigan governor was an Attorney General. May be she knows her emergency order is a long shot and goes ahead regardless because it's so much fun to terrorize the deplorables.

I am in a benadryl fog and trying to understand this damned rule. I keep reading it but I'm not seeing anything about individuals possessing OR using flavored e-liquid of any quantity, right? It's all about sellers and distributors. The thing about limiting to 4 bottles/containers, that is not part of the rule now? If it is, am I a seller or distributor in Michigan's eyes because I have magnitudes of stash? I claim grandfathering protection because my purchases were made before this so-called emergency was signed.

Also, the time limit for moving merchandise out of the stores, they have to get rid of everything really quickly. Wouldn't that mean the people that buy it to stock up are then in possession of too much and breaking the 4 package rule? o_O:eek::confused::mad:

So many questions...

Whitmer loves attention I know she is thrilled to be in national headlines and stories. She wasn't an attorney general, the guy she ran against for governor was, Bill Schuette. She was Ingham county prosecutor for 6 months.

As I understand it, there are No Additional Restrictions on what an Individual can Posses or Use. The Effects are on Sellers/Distributors.

That entire 4 Bottle thing I think was just Social Media FUD.
