So yeah...definitely should have ordered the T3 torx bit & extra soldering tip as suggested in the Co-Op. I'm pretty confident someone is feeling vindicated from me saying this, LOL. :thumb:

So far, I've only managed to spray my black back-plate with a coat of satin clear.

Those screws are indeed tiny little suckers, arent they! ;)

Got my package yesterday :)

Thank you so much for running this co op.

Question on the box, what is the best method to prep for painting or clear coating? I notice the black is much more pourous than the babs box I received from shapeways a month ago. Just wipe it down and clearcoat or is some fine sanding recommended ?

First, test-fit what you can; especially, the buttons. Then sand accordingly and sparingly; unfortunately, I've read that the black was more of a dye and doesn't go all the way through. Last night, I prepped the back plate by brushing it with a boar's hair brush, then blasting it with the air compressor.

This is true, ANY color other than white and alumide is a dye. The parts are submerged in a dye solution and the dye only penetrates the surface of the piece, less than 1mm deep , it does not go to the core. So it is very easy to completely sand the dyed surface layer off.

The bottom of this screen bezel was blue before I sanded it:

Just a little progress.... I was emitted by a great rain storm that hit Virginia.... I did however find my soldering iron. That's a plus I guess....

Finished!
I did rush along a little.... painting then it rained, brought it inside and let it hang for a little, then, hit it with the hair dryer on cold air for like 10 mins. I did wind up having wire that was toooo thick. Like 18ga. I had to take a few strands out to make it fit. The overall fitment was more snug than I would like because of the wires but, I know it's secure. Lol.

You didn't follow the directions....

Did this work? Or did you end moving the wire?

Yeah you gotta wonder if the battery tray went all the way down.

You modified the original instructions which makes it much easier to do the 510 positive connection. It took me longer to screw in that 510 than anything else ;)

Haha.....yeah originally I was worried about getting the nut started and tight on the 510. But the new way has proven to be much easier.

oops! I must have missed the update. If someone can point me to the post I can update the google instructions doc.

edit: Never mind - just figured out this doc is already updated.
