Ocy, move to Ohio. This place, in the near future, is going to be a hot spot for the Mid West. I wish I could tell you what I know, but it's gonna blow up here in Ohio.

Why don't they let you taste juices? That seems bass-ackwards.

Rubber tip "condoms" are mad cheap. All they need to do is load up some clearos and there you go.

So sorry your B&M won't let you try juices. The sniff test doesn't cut it for me. Smell and taste are similar, but I'd rather taste it first. I'm no longer "curious" as to what's out there. I've pretty much dipped my finger into every flavor option out there, and I know my likes and dislikes sharply. It's how I stayed single and happy for so long. I didn't "date".

As someone who has owned a convenience store, I can tell you that the general public has no idea of all the costs that a small business has to pay for each and every day...before the doors are even opened !
Markup and Profit are terms thrown around by people who have never seen a 15 or 20 thousand dollar invoice due by tomorrow !
When the cub scouts, baseball team and local theater company need a 'donation'...do they visit fasttech or Amazon ???
And of course the bankers and state and federal and insurance and, and, and, and, and, and...want their cut.
That is why your local small business just barely hangs on....or closes.
I shop online too, because wages have never really kept up with inflation...I need to stretch my purchasing dollars too.
But I never begrudge a small business person...and shop local when and where I can.
It's a lot tougher that you know !

People who don't own/run small or private businesses will always give their opinion, thinking that it will make a difference. They will never truly understand, as they're on the outside looking in. Business owners, small or large, take the brunt of their customers' ignorance. You don't know how many times (especially as a server in a restaurant) I would've liked to swap shoes with my customers. Oh how I could rant about serving. But anyway, customers who don't understand private business will peck away like little annoying birds, but if given the big picture, they MIGHT understand. But mostly, they don't, and they don't give a rat, and that's what makes doves cry.

With you, Bad and MaDeuce living there I can just imagine.

I think I posted about the no tasting allowed at this B&M before. I said I would bring my own atty and drip it, but they said it was a "health issue."

the only b&m stores we have near me are the same store. Which kinda stinks. They let you try the juice, but it's hard to tell how long they have had the juice because they have a TON of each flavor and different levels and such. I try not to go there unless I am running really low on juice, because they are kinda pricey...:(

Most online vendors sell juice that is "mixed" on order. "Fresh". Honestly, I would prefer pre-steeped juices. You get a more consistent quality. Not knocking vendors whose juices need to be steeped, but if you're walking into a B&M, you want your juices ready to be vaped at the moment. Online vendors cannot provide you this. Typically, vendors will let you know on their website if their juices are pre-steeped or mixed fresh. But the vast majority mix your juices upon order. This can be good or bad, depending on you, the purchaser. Are you willing to wait a week to two weeks for the flavors to steep? Or do you want to just fill and forget? These are options you need to think about when choosing between B&Ms and online vendors.

EDIT: Pre-steeped juice vendors may not (and probably can't) allow you to customize your order. Pre-steeped juices tend to be made in batches, before you order them, and allowed to steep (similar to wine vendors). Vendors like MBV and such mix upon order. While the prices are cheaper, you have to be patient with them. I, for one, am not patient. I want a juice, I want it now. Steeping is annoying but essential. It's all up to you, the consumer, to choose which is right.

My local shops are pretty comparable to online, $13-$18 per 30ml, here in Austin.

HOWEVER... I recently visited Cour d'Alene in Idaho and there are two B&Ms there. One was reasonably priced, the other was running $30 for a 30ml. Ouch.

The difference is that we have like 10 shops in the metro area here in Austin, probably more. Competition. The ones that are overly expensive will go the wayside eventually or have to lower their prices.

I even pointed out to the way expensive shop that his prices were crazy and he acknowledged that he'd have to be more in line with the market when more shops open.

rounding third and heading home...
you have no idea what his costs and expenses really are- if you want to be a simple customer then simply spend your money someplace else. it's called capitalism. a rambling complaint about high prices without naming the store by name seems like a waste of a thread. get on-line, find another b&m, or make it yourself. what good is whining about it?

Sweetheart, the word you're grasping for is irrespective.

All I gotta say is order from the net and in real emergencies got to local b&m. I don't have a choice the closest b&m to me is an hour away prices a real decent but gas isn't free so I order on line. Just think of it like this at least if a problem arises you may pay more but you get it now. Alot of people including myself don't have such luxuries. Vape long vape strong brother.

This.

It will all come down to this. Competition. As vaping becomes more ubiquitous, stores who were once allies will soon become competitors. Prices will vary. This can be a good/bad thing.

That.

Which is why it confounds me that the local B&M, irrespective of pricing, isn't going out of their way to engender customer loyalty before the inevitable competition arrives. I wouldn't mind paying more if I felt like we had a community, but as it is, I buy online to support a B&M in another state who aren't condescending.
