It's normal, and honestly switching over completely right away isn't for everyone. A great many of the veterans around here starting vaping just cut down on smoking, and it was a gradual process, sometimes over a period of months, before we realized we just weren't smoking anymore at all. I've helped quite a few people in my area get started vaping and I'll give you the advice I always give them. Have a cigarette when you want one, then then pick the vaporizer back up and keep going. This isn't a race and no matter when you finish you're a winner.

Vaping isn't the same as smoking even if you are getting the same amount or even more nicotine, the physical addiction might be to nicotine, but there is still a mental addiction to a cigarette itself. Even after starting vaping I still smoked 1-2 cigarettes(which I enjoyed less and less) a day for a few days before stopping smoking, but I would still crave a cigarette occasionally, after about a month I had a cigarette, didn't enjoy it at all, and since then I haven't wanted a cigarette

I too had trouble at first. I realized I was more addicted to the motions of smoking more then the nicotine. It took about a week until I was somewhat over it. Though, having been vaping for about 10 months now, I still find myself with the urge to do the motions. I don't think for me it'll ever go away, but I started smoking super young, so it was permanently ingrained in my brain. Lol

I had a hard time switching, took me months. Also had to go up to 24mg juice for a while. It's not a one size fits all deal. Some people quit with ecigs without even meaning to while others have a far more difficult time. Big Tobacco has spent millions, probably billions to keep you hooked on cigarettes. What mg of ejuice are you using?

Hey Zephyr, welcome to the ecf.!!!

When I first started it was with a cig-a-like device, but with that I knew a way had been found to not have to smoke. I quickly went in search of that "Something Missing" from my vape, after much investigation and research, bought my first regulated mod, searching further and more education, received my first rba, the Russian.

Since that point on, there was no longer a search of something missing, but a discovery of something never dreamed possible. Today my vape Provides me with a level of satisfaction, taste, and extreme joy, that no cigarette, cigar, pipe or burning bush could possibly even come close to or tempt me away from Vape.

Love everything Vape, from building and wicking coils, to mixing DIY juice. My collection includes a variety of Mechanical and high amp Regulated mods, both tanked and dripping rba's. Vape at a low of 30 watts to a high of 90 something. with an average of say 75.

My vape continues to change and grow as the industry changes and evolves.

Hey dice, is that your tabby in the pic? I've had a lot of cats growing up. Just got my Supra girl as a little kitten. The absolute best cat I've had, and tabby marks looks awesome LOL. Definitely the something missing is in most cases a satisfying setup. I believe a basic setup cannot provide the amount and quality of vapor us ex-smokers desire. I believe as of now my setup surpasses what a cig can supply and it maxes at 15 watts. As a side not I highly suggest new users experiment with pg to vg ratio. I ended up disliking pg throat hit. Almost turned me off from ecig. Use 100% vg now...

Um, no, that is not a tabby.. current avatar is of my Savannah Spontaneity. Spot for short. She is a 4 year old f3 savannah. Basically a domesticated hybrid Serval. She's worth about as much as I have invested in Vape gear.

At 15 watts one can achieve great vape with a decent rba. Once well versed at building, ohms law, battery knowledge & safety, and consistently maxes out 15 amps, then it's mechs and high amp regulated. Have a few dna30's and a 16 amp capable S.Max box mod.

Am with you on the PG. Mix at 70-80% VG personally. Find it much smoother and more satisfying volume of vape. Finding ones preferred juice blend can be the most frustrating aspects about vaping, but once that is solved, then can find thy vape path.

Vape is progressive, the more you know, the better ones vape is likely to be.

Hello everyone. I'm curious as to whether anyone else had a hard time with the transition over to e-cigs? I still have the urge to smoke a traditional cig even after vaping for a few hours. I don't get. Is this normal?
I smoked for 31 years (at most a pack a day, earlier this year down to about 7 or 8 cigs a day), started vaping a few weeks ago, and I haven't had a real cig in 8 days, which blows my mind. I just use Fin e-cigs right now, and I refill them with juice I got online which tastes great. I was a menthol smoker, and I read that they are the toughest to get over smoking, but I have this really minty juice, I can vape right in my room (instead of goin' out to the garage), I'm using 18mg strength, and I'm doing quite well. I have a more complicated setup coming in a few days, so that'll keep me occupied too. I really am surprised at how satisfying vaping is.....wish I knew sooner! Good luck....hope it gets better for you!!!

I craved cigarettes for the first month or so after I started vaping. Even now, 5 months later, I still get that craving on occasion though it is easy to ignore.

I had to set my mind in order, by sort of defining the addiction into components. Part 1 was the chemical nictone addiction. That was easily solved with some %24 nic liquid in a stout flavor (not necessarily tobacco, just something rich). Part 2 was the physical habit of smoking. To that end I picked up an RDA and learned to rebuild. This simulates the smoking 'ritual'. I pull out the bottle of liquid, drip into the atty, and take about 5-10 hits. A lot like pulling out a cig from the pack, lighting it, and smoking.

You might be missing the tobacco alkaloids present in cigarettes which are missing in most ejuice. I would suggest maybe trying some WTA juice to see if that helps. Swedish snus is another great source of tobacco alkaloids and you can usually find it locally at most gas stations. If you choose to try snus, try to stay away from the American brands. They are pretty weak and overly sweet. General brand has a store locator on their website you can use to find some close by. A few sources for the WTA juice with Aroma being one of the popular ones. Good luck!

My :2c:. Besides all the great suggestions here I read in another post on the forum a very good fact as well. The idea that we think it's just the nicotine that we crave is partly true. There are over 4000 other chemicals in cigarettes as well. I'm sure that we ex smokers are craving those as well not just the nicotine. This is my 3rd attempt using a e-cig delivery method and so far it has worked for 10 months. No real cravings that I can't over come, but I think that they really never go away. Just like any habit there will always be something that will trigger a crave and I think it's our will power that makes it easier to rebuff it. With that said, stay strong and the urges will get less and less. Anything that keeps us of cigs is the main objective. Happy Vaping!!!:vapor:

first off not everyone is the same i transitioned in 2 days some take longer. i wouldent care if anyone took longer as long as they keep at it it works.. the setup and strength of your juice matters . i started on a 24 and bumped up to a 36 for a short time and a ego starter wasent cutting it so i got a more advanced vv mod right off the get go.still craving a cig ..well that will pass give it time your more addicted to the OTHER stuff in a cig..vaping isnt the same a smoking you need to vape longer to get the same effects and if your using a weak mix your going to suffer..keep at it things will get better

took me a few month and I still crave a cig here and there but that is just normal. What really helped me personally was WTA juice which is whole tabaco Alcoids or whatever you call it. I mix 20-40% into my regular juice and it gives me the head rush that I got from cigs which made it way easier for me.

Hi, I'm not sure if this was mentioned or not but you might want to increase your nicotine in your e juice. I was able to comfortably quit smoking by using 24 mg nicotine juice. I was a 2 pack a day smoker. If your still craving maybe your nicotine is not high enough? Once I got the proper amount of nicotine I could completely quit. If I Had A Craving OR Urge ID Vape instead AND It would pass. Hope this helps.
