I was a HUGE Twin Peaks fan, and this song is just hysterical... View attachment 390889

It was a Los Angeles rock radio station, KROQ, that first aired this Twin Peaks version of the "12 Days of Christmas". The same station put out a Christmas album and this song was included. The album was only available for sale in the Los Angeles area.

The Twelve Days Of Christmas

For those who haven’t heard it yet, here’s the Twin Peaks version of the “12 Days of Christmas” classic recorded by some of the cast members for the L.A.-based modern rock radio station, KROQ-FM (kay-rock). As you can guess, hearing BOB sing is most unsettling.

I remember that one, Kitty. It was confusing for me because I was in college at the time (on the East Coast) and didn't have regular access to a tv (I was an RA that year and mooched TV time off of my advisees ). Anyway, I came back home for winter break and this song was playing all the time... It wasn't until I watched a little bit of Twin Peaks that I started to get it.

Speaking of KROQ Christmas, the team of Kevin and Bean used to put out Christmas comedy albums (again, only in the Los Angeles era). About a dozen years ago, I stumbled upon one of them in a used record store. It was a more recent one (I stopped listening to KROQ back in 1994), so I was unfamiliar with the actual material on it, but I picked it up for $1.99.

Christmas was always the easiest time to get the kids to behave with threats of Santa watching them. My husband used the opportunity to change the words of a kid's Christmas song by just one word for effect. When the kids started to misbehave he would start to sing, "Santa Claus NOT coming to town". He made his point and yet we got a laugh out of it, too. :)

OMG... that was pretty bad... Merry Jizzmas to All???

I can't believe I actually listened to the whole thing  LMAO!!
(kinda like a train wreck that you can't look away from...)

Most of the used record stores have closed down around here, including one up in Hollywood (Aaron's) that used to have live, in-store appearances. I guess Amoeba opening a store up there kinda did it for them... :(

Even Tower Records on Sunset Blvd. has closed... they used to have bands play there sometimes, too. I remember going to see Robert Fripp there once, and when Yes was there, the crowd was so big that they had a giant screen set up in the parking lot so everyone had a chance to see them!! :D

I used to enjoy going thru the bins at thrift shops, too... I just don't have the patience for it anymore.

Another memorable Christmas gift was when I received a hamster as a pet. That was during the heyday of the Habitrail (which was shamelessly marketed during Saturday morning cartoons), so naturally that is what I wanted. I ended up with the basic set that day.. and later added a sleeping den (which actually got use) and the sky restaurant. It was sunny that Christmas morning, so that was what I named the hamster.

The last Christmas before my parents divorced, I was 12yrs old, my Dad got me the greatest bicycle. It was a Matel Stallion, some came with the varoom motor, but mine didn't. I didn't care, I felt so cool riding it, the only one in the neighborhood. Had spring loaded rear shocks, was geared low so it went through sand very well.

Can't say I didn't warn you!

I wouldn't know where to look for a used record store here anymore. :( I spent hours in those--and in the local Tower Record stores, too. I remember the Tower on Sunset. I shopped there a couple of times when I took trips up in that direction. Despite being part of a chain, it just had a certain genuine vibe to it.

Memorable Thanksgiving... 1983

I have always done the largest turkey I could find. Got up that morning, made preparations and had the bird ready for the oven and it hit. A labor pain or something... it was like the kid dropped but with such force that I went to my knees. Hubby called the neighbor and she finished up the turkey for me. I knew that I needed to get to the hospital. About 45 minutes and 2 pushes later, delivered #2 son. All this time the doctors were telling me to gear up for a New Years baby and I ended up having a Thanksgiving turkey. :D We came home the next day and I still got to eat my Thanksgiving dinner... just a day late. Was really nice because everyone expected us to be in the hospital at least 3 days so I had 2 quiet days with my kids before all the relatives descended on us.

I remember Christmas when I was 7 or 8 and I wanted one of the large stand-up dolls that were about 3 feet tall. I woke up a few times during the night and it seemed like someone was looking at me. I even thought I caught a glint of eyes staring at me from the side of my bed, but it was quite dark and when I tried to look closer I saw nothing. Now being a 'big girl' I shrugged it off each time and went back to sleep. When morning came and I woke up in daylight, I saw the big doll I'd wanted standing there at the side of my bed looking right at me. I was excited and relieved at the same time. :)

Well my crazy story has to deal with my moms boyfriend and my grandmother.
They had never liked each other and they seemed to always argue at every holiday turning into a crazy battle. Well one year it happened while my mothers boyfriend was holding a knife. For 20 mins he kept yelling and pointing a knife at her while he was doing it. It wasn't an intentional thing at first he was cutting the turkey but just the fact that there was screaming and knife pointing in a room of 12 people was a little chaotic. People that took my grandmothers side seemed to think he was really going to stab her and people on his side said it was just in his hand. It is funny looking back on it now. Especially since my this is the first thanksgiving without her. I'm sure there will be a lot of funny stories to talk about along with tears this year.

I remember when I was little and the Christmas tree was up that there was a doll not wrapped behind the tree. Everyone pretended like there was nothing there. Well come Christmas Day it had disappeared. I unwrapped my gifts and when I got to that doll it said it was from Santa. Thanks everyone, I then knew santa wasn't really over something soooo stupid. Lol. Childhood ruined!!

Speaking of holiday memories, brings this to mind...Back in the early 80's I was doing my plumbing job like always, up on a ladder in a framed in house with music playing on the small radio I always brought. Then I heard this song playing, my partner had changed the station & I said, shut that crap off, I can't work listening to that!:-x Well now when I hear this song on the radio I usually turn it up & kind of like it now and don't know if I really like it or it just makes me feel bad for yelling at my partner but anyway every time I hear Madonna & Holiday I think of this! I actually like all types of music now, there's usually something good for most every mood too! :2cool: :vapor:

Wow!! I had this exact one, but with a smaller one that connected to the left (of the pic) for my teddy bear hamster. Easter didn't like him so I had to keep them separated. Yes, I got her near Easter time, thus the name. I wasn't terribly creative in naming, but Easter and Teddy seemed appropriate.

I lived in Buffalo, NY when I was a kid and I can still remember the details of my best Christmas. I was 8 and we were having a traditional Polish Christmas with perogi and sausage. My dad was still around then and he and I were watching a football game together. He let me stay up a lot longer than I was allowed and shared advice that I live by to this day. "Always be the best you know how to be, remember that your actions effect others around you, and putting a smile on someone's face can be more rewarding than anything in the world." It is the one thing that I'll always have from him no matter where I go.
