DNC......Thanks Deb & I've had problems picking the right stuff for here but am now getting into it & liking everything here now, as at first I too thought about it being about HOLIDAYS Here and was seeing only about Xmas but am enjoying it all now and loving all the appropriate stuff I think I can come up with now too! Yeah I know what you mean about the NYE shows now too and good luck with the computers! 
I remember one Thanksgiving, when I worked as a waitress at The Publick House in Sturbridge, MA. I worked in the part called the barn. It used to actually be a barn, and some tables were set up in the old stalls. It was very festive. All the diners were so happy and good natured. It was a real old fashioned New England Thanksgiving atmosphere. I really enjoyed that day.

When I lived in Juneau, at Christmastime, they would do cheap helicopter helicopter rides over the town to see the lights and the glacier. I think it started out as a one night thing but the response was so big, that they went to 2 nights. It was a great trip because I like helicopters and even when you are sitting at home and see a line of 5 or 6 helicopters on the way to the glacier with their lights on, it is easy to imagine it is Santa and his reindeer.

My Mom made a few shirts for my Dad too and he always wore them when we were out performing....the ones with the fringe across the shoulders. I remember one she did with an eagle feather design on each shoulder. VERY nice work too!
BTW... HELLO EVERYONE! I hope you're all having fun! I gotta few hours to hang out with you folks...while the Wifey and relatives are out shopping! I figured I'd sit that one out....

Bored with standard tree ornaments, my mom went across the border and bought a plethora of inexpensive, colorful ornaments from Mexico made of painted tin, straw, wood, and clay. Some are stars, Santa's, bells, and other traditional shapes, but many of them are of animals. These gave our tree a rather unique look compared to what one usually sees in most of the country. It's also a look that I like and I still use those ornaments today.
Some similar examples I found on the net:
Wow Count...those are very nice! Adds a home-made touch to the tree, which is fantastic. One of our activities this week is making ornaments with our Grandson. He wants to make a "Transformers" tree ornament!
That should be...interesting! I can just imagine a crude Optimus Prime with cotton balls and glitter on it.

Wow...now that looks like a really cool place! I love the old nostalgic settings like that. Perfect for Thanksgiving too...

Never was a Monkees fan, but I heard them doing this song and was actually impressed with their harmonies... View attachment 391942
(It is believed they learned the song from their producer, Chip Douglas who himself performed it with his former band The Modern Folk Quartet on their 1964 album.)
I did a little research on the song, and this is what I found: **
Riu, Riu, Chiu is a Spanish "villancico" published in 1556 that has attained some contemporary fame as a Christmas carol. A villancico was a popular form for song in post-Renaissance Spain. This carol became one of the more widely known such works in its time; versions of it today often contain updated translations to filter out its archaic words and meanings. The author of this carol is generally thought to be anonymous, but its text, possibly originally written in Portuguese, has been attributed by some to Mateo Flecha (1481-1553). The melody to Riu, riu, chiu probably dates to the fifteenth century or earlier.
And the lyrics from the version they were singing!!
