:toast: I haven't tried Sailor Jerry's yet...I must need to get out more! I have heard it's taaasty though... ;) To my taste buds though...it's hard to beat a good top shelf single barrel bourbon. Mmmmm. Nectar of the Gods.

Happy Thanksgiving to All! :)

In one of his songs, track 8 - Captain Jim's Drunken Dream (1976, In The Pocket), James Taylor says that Rum is the only drink that is suitable to mankind. Sailor Jerry's is a Spiced Rum. Maybe not as good as Captain Morgan's, but pretty good indeed. :D When it comes to Whiskey, I have to say that Crown Royal is the best I've had. :p

VG...I have a little tree like that now. It came with lights and a ton of little ornaments. One year I had told a friend that I wasn't having a tree because I was the only one there. She felt it was her duty to get me a tree. It hangs in my closet in a garbage bag until time to set it up. I always think of her. Funny thing is that it takes as long to decorate it as it did the big tree. Then I will smile and sit down to look at it and see an ornament next to another that I don't like, have to go fix that and sit down again... that process is repeated most of the holiday season it seems.

That's cool, Joan. I'm much the same way about decorating a tree, but I tend to stick at it until I get it right. It can take some time. I wish I still had that little tree and those decorations.

Yesterday, I mentioned spending time at my grandmother's house. That was in Montgomery, Alabama, the house I was born in. These are some pictures I was able to find of downtown Montgomery at Christmas time.

Looking up Decatur Street toward the Capitol building.

Another shot at night, showing the fountain.
The water is turned of when it's going to freeze.

Not Christmas time, but this is Union Station, the train station
at the opposite end of Decatur Street from the Capitol.
I used to go there as a kid and put pennies on the tracks,
and a train would come by and smash them flat. :D

This shot shows some of the decorations used every year
on the light poles. These are the same decorations that
were used when I was a kid.

TODAY...THANKSGIVING...

Yesterday my brother brought my nephew to my business and asked if he could leave him with me, hubby and our kid. As a super aunt I said of course. So my kid and nephew start playing...even my bug guy was there finishing up a preventive treatment.

Then I hear it...a horrible cough. Chest rattling, horse and hollow sound. I look at my nephew and ask him if he is sick...he says "yeah I've been really sick for a while now."

My brother comes back about an hour later on the phone and tells my nephew that they have to go and to get away from us (as somehow that would erase the last hour)...turns out that horrific cough is whooping cough. So my brother just causally says, "my bad, the doctor said you guys should call your doctor right away." So I call our doctor and he doesn't even want to see us...he called in prescriptions for my family and we are now on quarantine for 48 hours from first dose.

I had to call my bug guy and warn him as he has two little ones of his own. I then called my family to let them know we were not going to make it to Thanksgiving and warned them that if my brother shows up for Thanksgiving to kick him out so he doesn't contaminate the rest of them.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm now going to make our thanksgiving pizza...

My daughter's first Thanksgiving, she had just graduated from her all-milk diet and was trying mashed food. She decided that she really liked the yams... and by the time Thanksgiving dinner was over, she had them all over her face. I know I have the photo.... just can't find it amid all the other ones. (I'll probably come across it after this weekend...)
