Yes, I just finished disassembling and cleaning the switch, there was alot of corrosion on the spring and steel parts. I got the sense this mod was assembled some time ago. Then I got the brass shim in place and no more heat!! The button stays nice and cool for good long hits and chain vaping; it's working great now! Thanks everyone for your advice and insight. I love a good thread like this one, alot of knowledgable freindly people. It took a while working the button to get it functioning well, it was a bit sticky, but I kept at it and it's nice and smooth now, and comes back out all the way after pushing it. I've got a bunch of extra shimming material if anyone is in need. Someone offered to send me some yesterday, but I was too anxious and made a trip to Ace HW. Ace seems to have uncommon stuff more often than other HW stores. So I'm running a smok RDA, dual coil at .5ohms, tons of tastey plumes!

Hello Vince, I am lost with what to do about my hot button. How does one go about cleaning off the corrosion on these tiny pieces? Also forgive me for asking but how do you shim the fire button? If anyone could help me out on this matter I would be greatly appreciative! Thank you.

here we go...thanks guys... my button just sabotaged me; got hot and wouldn't stop firing; i unscrewed it and everything kind of fell apart.
getting a shim from Vince...
not sure what its all about but it needs something.
Picture #1 is disassembled MKB-TS switch, copper shim is next to last on the right side.

Picture #2 shows copper shim on the shaft of the buttom.and ready to assemble.

You need a very thin shim, other wise it will stick and vape without you, even when you think you got it right give it a good workout before vaping with it to get it loosened up good.
I got the idea from upsetter21

what does the shim do for it?

Other than making it feel less sloppy it provides greater contact area between the two surfaces, but just being clean is probably much more beneficial.

I wonder if it would help to get a brass spring. I was looking on the COV site at parts for the GGTS and I was wondering if parts were interchangable, like the brass springs, for button and bottom for battery. There's also a brass button. Anyone ever try any of these? do they fit?

Sorry to ask, but I'm confused.
The KTS is different than the MKB-TS?
But they are both the clone of the GGTS?
Also, the MKB-TS is substantially better than the KTS?

Yes, the MKB-TS is MUCH different than the KTS. The MKB-TS is made from nicely threaded and machined SS, and is almost an exact replica of the GGTS. The KTS is quite frankly junk in comparison. Here is a pic of a nickel-plated brass GGTS before I sold it some time ago:

Here is a pic of my MKB-TS with added knurled connector, and 18650 / Crown VV VW installed: (along side of my EA Mod)

And along-side of my Sigelei Zmax:

Both the brass battery and button springs for the GGTS (from COV) don't fit. I tried and they are both too small. The one for the button will not fit around the firing pin and the one for the battery post just drops down in there. I guess you could re-coil them with some pliers and the right size screw or something but I didn't bother trying.

I received my MKB from MOV today, not complaining but the button and the plunger were loose and it had the logo and serial number but that was before I buffed it, it's totally gone now. The Mod works real good(as expected)
Oh, I forgot to add the my GGTS based Ithaka didn't want to screw in very well so like my other one I scrapped the end of a precision screw driver through the threads and then it screwed on but I thought I was going to have to get some pipe wrenches out to get it off. So I just put on the GG collector tank that I had previously got before I figured that the MKB collector tank would work. When I have more time I'll slick it up.

I know it's been said before, but the MKB-TS is such a solid mod! I received the real GGTS today and the MKB-TS performs just as good as my GGTS. Obviously the GGTS quality is top notch but I actually prefer the satin/brushed look of the MKB-TS. I'm a little OCD with keeping my mods clean, ggts polished shows all the fingerprints and such

Got mine from Elliotts Hardware for $4 because Ace Hardware didn't have it...but most get it from Ace. They have some on their website but seems way overpriced. You want the .002" sheet.

As for brass springs, no idea. Would like to know myself. Local stores only seem to carry steel.

Ordered my mkb ts last Wednesday from MOV. Wish I would have seen this thread before now. I feel like I could have saved a lot of people some money. They are killing it over there with their prices :). Thanks about the tip about the gg base too. Nice find!

Sorry to go off way off topic... but this has to do with the manufacturer of the MKB. Has anyone seen RainbowHeaven's latest endeavor? Its called the Hybrid Elite. It appears to be gearing up for competition with the IHybrid Fusion... No US based retailers yet.

Alibaba Manufacturer Directory - Suppliers, Manufacturers, Exporters & Importers

Someone who knows a vendor should ask them to pick a couple of those up. I would buy for sure. Props to RainbowHeaven for being on the leading edge of clones lol.

I have a shim on the way... but just checking in saying i put my button back together and its not hardly even warming up anymore; if at all.
I guess it was just loose or something... but everything firing on all cylinders now!

I use the stealth cap and currently a Forge clone triple post dripper... dual coils = .6 ohms... i like it better than a lot of things.
Eats up the juice but fine vaping... 18650 batt diminishes in a twinkle.

Hey Uke, I'm glad it's working, I'd still do the shim, it's a good idea. At the COV website, if yoou go to the GGTS photo and enlarge it, you'll see that the sleeve for the button is copper. I've been using the Forge clone too, it definately hits great. I also have one of those Smok RDA's, the one avdvertised as the octapus. I set it up for dual coil, at .5ohms, drilled two nice sized holes where the coils are, this thing is rockin! You're right about the dual coil using the juice, but what a hit!
