...Then after getting the switch adjusted into the tube...

This is a key point, and something I just discovered last night. It's key especially for someone like me previously inexperienced with these gg style bottom/side buttons. About a week ago, I disassembled the switch to inspect it. Then I casually screwed it back together and vaped away. During that week, I began to experience a decidedly weaker vape, and it really ...... me off... I thought the MKB was failing.

In hindsight, I realize that the switch must have barely been contacting the post in my willy nilly re-assembly... just enough to fire, but with a really weak connection. I disassembled it again last night to clean, and putting it back together, I realized it's completely dependant on me how far the button housing screws into the body. I set it a nat's hair away from the post, tighten everything like dw describes, and the difference was immence! Back up to full steam.

Lots of good info here...
the Sig8 thread is talking about removing the brass spring in the center post and just raising the spring housing cylinder up by unscrewing it out of the plastic insulator to make direct contact with the batt, fixing a 1.0 ohm voltage drop (per an inline meter... youtube vid shows how).
the MKB has that spring housing fixed into the insulator? i didn't want to try cracking it to see if it unscrews up..
here's the vid link: interesting and easy fix... although i'm getting some batt rattle...
How to Improve the Sigelei #8 - YouTube

btw i'm not saying the MKB has that voltage drop that it needs it...

I've been patiently waiting for someone else to try unscrewing the Axis on the MKB. Has anyone tried breaking down the bottom cap?

BTW, I think I have a GG stealth on the way now. Kind of throwing off my perspective... that a genuine GG only cost me about $40 more than I paid for the MKB, albeit not a TS. Now I have to hunt down a GG telescoping tube. Seems like every time I adopt new gear I'm off looking for more parts.

That thing is REALLY secure and solid as a rock on mine. I don't dare try to force it. I'll leave that to you real modders out there. But as long as you're not using 18490, I think you can go without the spring if you want.

hmm it IS a tele after all... the sig 8 improved is an 18650 tube... so the mkb Can be tightened down a bit no?.

btw i did try an inline meter and similar rather big voltage drop on MKB...

COV has got their GGTS order in.
What a busy place, I gave up trying, I thought I'd get a switch but.........................

No kidding! I just got saw an email notice from them about having Ody GGTS bases in stock that I signed up for a long time ago. I already got one from E-smokeguru but I thought about picking up another just as a spare (and by now I can almost piece together another Terminator just from spare parts lol). But I can't even log into the site. Oh well. If I can order some GG kit cool, but I'm not going to let myself loose sleep over it. If that dragon wants to come sit in my lap then sure I'll spend some money but I'm not going to chase it anymore.

holy crap batman...
i just took the spring out of the MKB al a that youtube "fix"... and with the stealth cap, i was able to fit the 18650 AW IMR down low... yow, just eliminated .5 voltage drop according to my inline mm...now we're cooking!
Its a good 10mm shorter than the SIg 8 ...
and i'm not getting a warm button.... with a fresh batt and a .8 DID atty.
I'm stoked...

i WAS going to host another SIg 8 with brass bla bla, but when i see how the axis spring resistance plays out, i don't think so.

Gonna have to fiddle with that some more, and see how the EA clone comes in too.... that's actually what i'm looking for (MKB minus the collector tank).

OK gotta admit, a different AW IMR (slightly longer) will snug in the Sig 8 as shown in the youtube vid... but it is a little less secure...imo.

still what we got here is a couple of nice China clone mech devices, albeit the springs do give a significant resistance to what these things can do....

I thought about picking up a Stealth, but, in my case, it would be around $70.00 more than I paid for the MKB-TS, and the latter comes with the collector tank and telescopic section. ;)

Sorry, I've paid my "GG dues" over the years.... Besides the finishing being much better, the GGTS / Stealth cannot do anything the MKB-TS cannot. I'll take the $70.00 I saved on a Stealth ($155.00 saved compared to a GGTS), and buy another MKB-TS, Ithaka clone, or perhaps a brass GG Stealth top cap... :)

So all this talk about the battery spring got me to do a little mod on the axis.
Here's what I did, I used a diamond bit in my Dremel clone and ground out the first 2 1/2 threads out of the axis so those 3 coils that still stick out can collapse into the axis giving it the same connection as if there were no spring at all while still maintaining some tension on the battery so it doesn't become loose as easily. I've been thinking about for awhile now, I'll see how it goes before doing it to my other one.

Still have some gap between the cap and tube, but of coarse that was not my purpose but it did shorten it about 4 mm.

the GG parts that don't fit the MKB are the switch, bottom tube, telescoping tube, switch spring, battery spring and the adapter to bring the 510 to the gold cap.
The GG rethreader doesn' fit either.
as far as i know evertthing else interchanges

So basically O-rings are the only thing that is compatible, lol

GGTS Bottom Cap & Axis Assembly
GGTS 510 Connector & It's Internals
GGTS Collector Tank
GGTS Collector Tank AD Top Cap
Oddy to GGTS Connector
GG Stealth Caps
