So I have had the smok Procolor for about a year now. In the last few days it is getting very hot (tank is hot, mod is hot, batteries are hot) at 25w on a q4 coil in prince tank. Batteries used to last 6 hrs now last 30min I bought new batteries and same problem. I’m sure I need a new mod but not sure what to get or how to prevent this from happening again. Thanks in advance.
I’ve got the smok majesty and it is bang on never had a problem with it

Don't put curses on the Smokmajesty @TrollDragon . I'm not kidding I called a picture of a radius next to a dicodes well I said "I was not aware that a mod was capable of making a radius look SHODDY."

The next day guess who spilled coffee all over and into a radius? LOL and no, it's not working yet and I bet I won't GET it working and I even have a future Radius owner wanting to "take on" my busted radius and she is a JEWLER and guess who gets a busted radius in 3 or 4 days probably? HER.

Because my radius is like, clearly saying, "You don't deserve to have me you disgusting hooligan" the curse is REAL. It's like, "So sorry you said that, guess what I shall do." LOL.

People do vape other things than Kayfuns.

I really should get out more. Honestly I have never used, much less owned a Kayfun. Right now I am using a Serpent SMM, so it's not some tootle puffer. /ducks. Not that there is anything wrong with tootle puffers. :D It's just not setup to consume mass quantities of liquid as fast as possible.

I really enjoyed my Kayfuns and Taifuns and was a member of the Tootle Puffer threads through 2 reboots. ;)

It would be great to go back to those days, but once one becomes use to the vapor density of the bigger gear it's had to go back. I still use the Rose V2 with salts though. :vapor:

Same here. I used a Kayfun Lite Plus on a Provari for the longest time. Hey, if it was PBusardo's favorite combo (at the time) it was certainly good enough for me. 1.2 ohm single coil, MTL draw, and 4 volts was a great Tootle Puffer vape.

Alas, working in a vape shop exposes one to a wider variety of vape devices and vape styles. Before I knew it, I was using 0.5 ohm coils, DTL vaping at 30 watts. That's been my sweet spot for about four years now.

I don't think I have ever consumed more than 8 ml of e-juice in a day's time.

Ok so after figuring out the 2 bad batteries, 1 from each set, I put in the newest set and have had no problems whatsoever. Batteries draining at normal rate, no overheating, and believe it or not, less juice consumption. I’m still anxiety ridden over the possibility of something wrong with the mod so I want to replace it with new batteries. Online I know there are plenty of options. In our local store they have the Sigelei Kaoz and the Sirus (forgot brand). Any thoughts on those or is it best to order something else on line. I have king cloud beast, prince, big baby beast tanks with coils so I want to use those up. I also have crown OG tank. I’m not opposed to just a mod or a kit. No rebuilable, something I can go from 30-80w no problem, dual batteries but not too bulky.

The original Crown are my favorite and current tanks. I have two standard and two mini versions, different flavors in each. The original Crowns have a wide selection of coils available, each with their recommended wattage settings.
Original Uwell Crown Clearomizer Tank

I'm afraid I've never heard of the Sigelei Kaoz or Sirus mods. I'm admittedly biased against anything SMOK, myself.

As you plan on using your battery-hungry, wattage-sucking, juice-hog SMOK tanks you'll need a two or three battery, high wattage regulated mod. And make sure the batteries you use have the amps necessary for the wattage range you'll use.

;)

Well it sounds like you enjoy a direct lung experience at somewhat higher power. I will reiterate the good reputation of the Innokin Proton. The Sirius is I believe by Modefined which is a child company of Lost Vape who are known for their higher end DNA mods and have a good reputation for them.

If you want a new tank, the big thing these days are mesh coils. They work well and last a long time even with commercial juice. Both Freemax and Horizon provide excellent coils for their tanks. Smok is now also offering mesh coils that I believe fit the prince series. Never tried them so can't comment on performance. I do use the Freemax mesh pros and have been very happy with their coils.

Thank you! So I actually tried the Clapton, mesh and strip coils for prince tank and they were all horrible. I’ll have to look at those other tanks. Yes the Sirus is by modefined. They have it locally you think that is a decent mod or you like the Proton better

When two cells are paired in a mod in series or parallel both should be equally sharing the load. If one gets hot for any reason, it's probably unable to keep up with the load. It's time for a new matched pair, as others have said. That, or something in the mod that's causing one cell to be excessively drained.

Is the Smok Procolor a series or parallel mod? Either way the one bad cell heating up (and showing red on the mod) is probably a cell that can't take the power, even at 30W. The mod seems to be reporting correctly since the OP said that the mod showed one cell red and the other green on the display.

The Sirus 200W dual battery mod. What is the contraption on the right side of the mod that looks like an Apple port? Never heard of the company that makes this, but its a handsome looking mod.

Innokin Proton. I've heard of Innokin, they have a good reputation. I'm not sure I would like the joystick or the large bar fire button, but that's me.

Modefined is a sister company to Lost Vapes. They spun that off to produce less expensive mods using their own boards instead of DNA boards. As far as what is on the right side of the mod, if you mean the black trapezoid shape in the middle of the side, that is a vent area. There is some kind of foam or screen behind it to prevent dust from getting in. If you mean the metal tab on the top right that is a lanyard connector.

Innokin Proton is a great mod. The joystick becomes second nature in a hurry. The large fire button is something that you will find really comfortable. When you grab the mod your fingers land on it every time and you can press it with all four fingers or just the pointer finger. The switch is positive and easy to press and doesn't take a lot of effort. The fire bar is hinged at the bottom, so it responds easily to one finger at the top. For me, it's one of the many fine features of the Proton. No sore fingers with the way they've implemented the fire bar.

The joystick is something I didn't think I'd like, but it's also done well. You pull the joystick down, wait 2 seconds, and then click left or right to adjust wattage in half watt increments. Hold it down to fast forward or reverse. Click the joystick 3 times to enter menu mode.

I'd buy the Proton again.

@DaveP I'd be worried that the toggle button (joystick) would be damage prone, especially if kept in a pocket. I've not seen or used one so that's just a first impression.

I usually use the Proton at home because it's a medium sized mod (about the size of the Eleaf Invoke), although it fits in a pocket well. I haven't had a problem with pocket firing, but I can see how it could happen if it turned where the fire bar was against your leg, but it would have to be turned 90 degrees from its natural position in a pocket or pressed by another object in the pocket. You can lock the fire button by pressing the joystick to the right and clicking the fire button.

The Geek Vape Aegis 100W on the other hand, is kind of like a coffee table lighter in size. It's my around the house vape mod. Mine came in a couple of days ago from Efun and I'm impressed at the build quality and features. I just updated the Aegis from V1 to v1.24 to fix the issue with not recognizing an atty change. Now, it asks you "new coil?" and shows you the old and new resistance values. Select one and vape. The update process was easy and seamless.

And when you decide to get your new mod, please order new, fresh batteries from one of the reliable vendors already posted in this thread. Keep them paired so they charge and discharge at the same rate, and keep your extra sets in a protective plastic box.

As to mods, I have a Proton and consider it a very nice smaller 2 battery mod. I don't have a Sirius but I have a bunch of Lost Vape mods, all of which have been excellent (granted DNA boards) so I would expect by reputation it to be a decent product.

If you don't like the Smok mesh sorta coils, the Freemax mesh pro is excellent. The Horizon mesh coils are also considered excellent based on the posts I've seen about it.

Any way you go you should end up with a pretty reliable solution for a good vape experience.
