Only evics I own are a couple evic basics!
& the only evic in my local was an evic primo mini... I'd rather have the evic vct mini. After a decent single cell mod & I'm not a fan of the pico that people rave about, it's not even big enough to be what I class as palm friendly hahaha.
I like ones like the cuboid, the alien fits really nice in the hand but the firmware is garbage & I've gone through two this year!
My longest lasting mod is the coolfire iv 40 watt, I get 3 or 4 years out of one & have dropped the two I own a million times.

Also the tc isn't good on Smok mods, I have the h priv, g priv, alien and osub an excellent it's less than average on them all. I only vape in power mode most of time now though so they do fine.
Do you have any suggestions for a decent tc mod though, not much experience with tc... I've tried ss on a fair few but wasn't the best!
Indeed, the tc on the Alien is subpar. I really like Wismec/Joyetech/Eleaf mods, though many criticise them. For me, their tc is great. In fact, I prefer them to my one DNA 200 mod (which is made by Wismec however). My five rx200 were my go to mods for a long while but nowadays my Wismec predator sees more use (I'm very careful with the 510 on that one though).

I have a wismec rx2/3 & an Istick power 80w & besides the istick misfiring it is a good long lasting mod!

@MrsPO721 you got any batteries yet or you still using the V8? ?
I got 2 of the HG2s last night and so far, they're running like Champs! I haven't run them down very far, haven't been using them long enough, so they're still at least 75% charged atm, but I did put them in when I first got them and they were only about 25%, if that, and did a few test draws to see if it would sink like the IMRENs and they didn't, they did great!

They are up there with Samsung & Sony, very good batteries. You shan't be disappointed! :)

Good mods, good batteries, good builds, and good liquids make all the difference. If you're new to sub-ohm setups try regulated box with a Type E battery (1500mAh with a 30A drain). Or a Type D battery 2000mAh with a 20-25A drain. No sense in throwing a 10A battery into a device (regulated or not) when you don't have the current (in amps) to push the power to the connected atty. Get away from IMREN batteries. They're rewraps with overstated specs (3500mAh @ 35A)... You could go the mechanical route as well... I just ordered my last mechanical mod and some LG HB6 batteries to run with it. Since I typically build between .15-.2 ohms... Better safe than sorry.

You are correct & genuine reputable batteries don't even cost more than the grade bin ones!

I got my batteries and y'all are right about them dying fast lol. I swore I'd never go to a dual battery mod because it honestly scares me, but I talked to a guy at my local shop who explained that it's not near as scary as I thought! So... now I want to get the Smok Alien 220W. I still won't be vaping over 35-40W, but at least I won't have to change the batteries so often. Thoughts?

Actually, I'm looking at the Smok Alien 220W OR the JoyeTech Evic Primo 200w. I own two eVic V2 Minis and I love them, I'm really impressed with the Smok Stick V8 kits I got, but they're just a little too warm for me when they're freshly charged. They're great once they drain a bit, a cooler vape like I prefer, but bc I vape sweet juices, they tend to burn a lot quicker on the V8 stick.
I also want to say I'm incredibly impressed by the Smok Big Baby Beast tank that came with the V8 stick! The coils (the .25ohm) have lasted me longer than any of the other coils I've used! The tank will leak from time to time and it was really getting annoying me, but once I figured out what the cause was, I haven't had much problem with that anymore. And for anyone who's curious, the liquid was getting too hot, which was thinning it out on the V8 sticks (or at least that's what I was told), so vaping it cooler has fixed the issue.

Like I tell everyone, get what you think will work for you. For me, I like the tinkering. I like fine tuning. I also like my flavor. Of all the setups I've used, the Triade DNA-250, the Kayfun V5, and 3 LG HG2 browns, (3000mAh / 20A) are good enough for me. I don't vape in VW mode too often anymore. So 316L stainless steel in TC is good enough for me.

Plus with those HG2s... Battery life for DAYS!

Smok Alien with a Freemax Starre Pure tank w/0.25 coil. The tank doesn't leak, doesn't get hot, and their coils last a long time.

I think joyetech do better mods if I'm being honest & the board is miles better, I have had a lot of issues with my alien so I cannot recommend it all! I'd go with the Evic Primo but your gonna get different answers off different people cos some people have used the alien for months & it's been a decent mod :)

Someone else recommended the eVic Primo Mini. Still a single battery mod, but it's like an upgraded version of what I already have, will fit my bigger tank and still has a nice large screen and button. I haven't had to buy a new model in so long, so much has changed lol.

Also, I should add, I've had a few Joyetech mods and only 1 (model) of the Smok (which was a while ago) and I had a lot of issues with the Smok mods I had. The only issue I ever had with the Joyetech is figuring out all the features lol.

The evic vtc mini is one of my favourites :) if you wanna go for a dual get the cuboid, the menu system and aappearance is similar to the vtc mini but takes 2 battery's & goes up to 150 watts.
If your vaping at 40 watts you will get a good day.

I don't like the looks of it but it might perform great :) I say if you like it get the kit, the tank with it could be a great sub ohm tank.

You're not the only one I've heard say you don't like the look lol. I like that the edges are rounded, I LOVE my V2 Minis, but they are a bit bulky in MY hand. At 26 I was diagnosed with a slew of issues with my body, which includes arthritis, EVERYWHERE, and sometimes these bigger mods are harder for my hands to control... I look like a mummified person with shriveled up hands lol j/k (sort of), but that's how it feels sometimes! That's been another concern when it comes to getting a dual battery mod, adding bulk isn't going to be great for me. I hate that I feel like I'm just starting out again lol.

I think you would like the Primo shape over the V2 Mini.
It can be fired by just squeezing the mod, no searching for the button.
