woo! I think I finally found the perfect tactile switch for ecigs. I have been contacting some different manufacturers of switches looking for one with a micro/flat profile, with a high rise soft touch button instead of a low profile hard plastic button. I'll be replacing the switches in both my Husky flashlight mods with this soft touch switch, as well as a new one I'm working on, the Romisen A8. The switches shipped today, so I'll do an update once they arrive and I've had a chance to use them. I think the Romisen A8 with soft touch on the end will be great.

Here are the specs. You can contact them with the part number you are interested in, and they will respond with the closest supplier.

E-Switch - Product Catalog

The total height of the casing including button height is .197 inches. The casing itself is only .118 inches. The leads can be bent out to install on a flat surface which is how I will install them.

Looks good keep us updated!

madog, need to say first off - thanks for sharing your idea with the first flashlight mod. I have been using your idea and building on it, not quite the same as you are but the concept is the same. Once I get my switches and other flashlight in and finish my 3 different flashlight mods I'll do a video review of all of them so you all can compare size, appearance, and performance by seeing them all in action at once. I've spent more money tinkering around with these different flashlights, batteries, and chargers than I have spent on ecigs! I'll have an 18650 setup, a 14500 setup, and a CR123 if I have any luck modding the Romisen A8 which I think I will be able to pull off. I tested my tube cutter on an old guitar stand last night and it was really easy to make a clean cut in the tubing. Just wanted to give everyone an update and let you know I'm still working on mods and to expect a video update on my progress. Would be nice to get some feedback from you all too on which one you like the most. I'm going to try and make the Romisen a really nice looking mod. I'll post my cost for each mod. I want to do the Romisen mod without doing a video just to get experienced with it, if it turns out nice I'll get another one and do a video tutorial/walkthrough. Anyway... thanks again to madog for the great idea and I'm hoping to see more people out there modding be it USB or portable battery mods. They took the fun out of my USB mod and started selling them for 20 bucks. lol

USB Mod for 20 bucks - Man they are Kill Joys - I keep waiting for the Chinese to start making Magnums - :D
As for the Flashlight I got one of them but the Darn thing works so DAM well I haven't had the heart to cut in to it -
I took a close look a Rat's video review on the "Other" flashlight mod and was VERY impressed with the end that looks machined holding the battery adapter (Hummm!) - the tire valves I have been using to make the battery connectors have threads at both ends and was curious if it could just thread right in to the end would make making the bat connection real easy here is a pic of a completed and un-modded one and one taken apart. I also posted today that the Magnum mod which is similar to the Husky mod can use a CR123 batt also - Just stretch the springs and use the lower pressure 1/2 pvc as a spacer (thinner wall). Lower voltage - but once you are use to 5 volts or more it is hard to go back to "STOCK" :D - I think that works with all things.

Know what you you mean madog the SD flashlight is a cracking little torch had to order some more to use as a flashlight cos I'd cut my other ones up.
latest one uses a janty auto switch and a classic atomizer so no need to keep button pressing anymore ended up about 1 1/2" longer than the original.
going back to start looking at pipe mods again using the janty switch an keep it as light as possible.

I've been browsing deal xtreme too for stuff to mod. How about this, it's a bit more expensive but it already has a switch, runs on a cr2 battery and is tapered at the end for the battery thread to be attached. Look good?
DealExtreme: $21.34 Green Laser Keychain 5mW
Actually it looks like the nicest possible DIY for beginners. take out the laser innards, attach atomizer and you are good to go. BUT: is 3 V enough to power an atomizer? It says 3v on the battery.

If yes, then even for people with two left hands and no experience the overall work on this might be some 20 minutes...:thumb:

If anyone does the laser mod please post it up. The switch is a normally open temporary pushbutton, so it's exactly what we need for the ecigs. I've already done 3 and really don't need another one, but it would be good to see if it works out. I've been spending too much money on trying different flashlight mods.
According to the description you cannot get these in the US.

United States Customers Only: due to new regulations enforced by the US FDA and PayPal, orders of >5mW lasers units shipped to the United States are no longer accepted. Orders that were previously accepted and unshipped will be cancelled and refunded to customers. This affects United States orders only.
