Okay, I'm absolutely clueless about mods. I've just figured out my egos.... well, sort of. Anyway, I'm thinking I'm gonna need one someday so I wondered if I could get any advice? What's your favorite mod to use with 510 stuff? What's the point of having a mod over a regular ego? Does it make for a better vaping experience? They seem to be kind of pricey and we're on a budget so I want to make sure I know what I'm getting before I buy. Thanks for any advice!

I like mods for higher power.I use 5v instead of the 3.2-3.7 you get off regular batts.Sometimes reg batts are better for things like WoW cartos or LR attys.Mods are expensive and if your like me you will have to save up for a long while to get one.Start putting away a couple of dollars a week and by the time your ready to get one you will have enough.Dont get discouraged when the family needs your vape money.Just start over and keep going.LOL,its an adventure!

Personally, I've found that I like the Ego sized batts better than my mods. I get enough power for what I like to use. However I do prefer the 900 and 1000 mah over the 650.

I have tried several mods (I use them as backups! lol). My favorites are the ones that are easiest to use. Easier buttons, easier handling, easier assemblies. Some are quite heavy, or have many parts.. etc. All that said, my favs are: Provape and GGslim. The provape is easiest to use (of the two) and the GGslim is the smallest and the prettiest (of the two) The Provape has a bit more power behind it.. as it runs on the 14500, and the GGslim runs on the 10440.

It's all a personal preference kind of thing. If I were you, I'd research.. check out the different styles, the different power outputs, and the different accessories. Then think about what matters most to YOU. Since you will be the one using it.. that is most important!

Best of luck!
HTH!

My reasons for being pro mod are: Battery life between charges and adjustable voltage.

Some things I've learned along the way: If you're looking for a mod and you're happy with 650mAh eGo battery life, look for higher mAh mods. You'll want a mod that takes at least 750mAh batts, be them single, stacked or parallel. That's each battery for stacked or parallel, not the combined total of each battery. Two small 350mAh batts stacked or side by side will not equal the time you get from your eGo. Each battery must be 750mAh to get close to your eGo life span between charges. (Examples: Two Tenergy LiFePo4 750mAh 3v batteries stacked in a mod will last 5 hours for me, Two Ultrafire Protected 16340/CR123 3.7v 880mAh stacked in a mod will last 7 hours for me. There are several very nice mods that take both types of batteries I've mentioned here.)

I didn't see much use for adjustable voltage until I fell in love with a fruit vape. I was happily vaping 5v's and thought I'd never need another voltage. I find that adjustable voltage is a beautiful thing when you really want to fine tune the perfect voltage/flavor factor. Such as my Strawberry Pie...it just tastes better at 4.5v for me and is also lovely at 3.7v in a LR cartomizer. At 5v, it's a bit burnt tasting and who wants burnt Strawberry Pie? I like having one mod that allows me to fine tune. There are many mods that will take a single high mAh 3.7v battery AS WELL AS giving you the option to stack two smaller 3v batteries for regulated 5v or unregulated 6v vaping. These are adjustable by battery option vs dialing in your voltage. Whatever way you go, adjustable voltage in one mod is a very nice and useful feature to many, myself included.

My first mod - actually my first PV - is one of Old Goat's bottomfeeders. I like having a PV I can carry around for a day and a half without any maintenance. The battery lasts me about 24 hours (I generally sleep at max 6 hours a night, vape the rest), as does the bottle. If you're not into feeders, or you just prefer dripping, carts, cartos, or what-have-you, a box mod with the 14500 or 18650 battery will last forever between charges. My 14500 is rated at 900 mah, while there are 18650's rated at 2400 or so. It's the goofiest thing, but Old Goat attaches a lanyard via a jewelry-style ring, which means I carry mine around my neck all day. It's fantastic for driving, gaming, cooking, or whatever else I may be doing and I can't go digging or set it down nearby.

So, for me, the main reasons for a mod are the battery life and the convenience. Oh, and Old Goat's prices are amazing - they're right around standard 510 kit prices. Regular box mod w/no feeder is even more budget-friendly.

Awesome! Thanks for all of the info guys! This really helps. As I'll have to save up for a decent amount of time, I'll have time to look at the different models. I have looked at some of them, but without knowing much about them, I could only tell which ones I thought were prettiest and pretty doesn't equal useful. The one that allows a change in voltage sounds very interesting.

The VP-PT passthrough is calling to me, but I'm not sure if I should get it or look for a cheaper regular 5v passthrough. I like the vv Joker also. I'm going to have to pull the trigger on a mod soon. I'm having a mod attack!!. A passthrough makes since as I work 40 hours a week at a PC (even though I would be using a wall socket) so it would save my 808 batteries a lot of charging, but I'll not part from the 808s they're too handy for running out the door with and my 2 year old would be too attracted to playing with a mod if I had it out and about in the house much.

Ahh, but would it look hot with a gooseneck!, lol. I'm not worried about sticking with an 808 connection cause I use a lot of 510 stuff also. Variety is what makes me vape happy. I have a small 510 passthrough. I don't know how many volts it is but I never use it because I feel tethered with the short cord. The vt-pt is durable looking with a good long cord, but yea I'm trying to decide if the price is warranted since there apparently are other 5v cheap options.

I was *this close* to getting a VV Joker and went with a VV Tekk from the classifieds instead. The Joker can take 880mAh batts, which is good, I've used a Buzz with those and I got 7 hours from them, but the Tekk is a usb charge and lasts for days...kinda couldn't pass that up. I've also been eyeing that PT from VaprLife and it looks amazing and still might be on my list of things to get someday. MadVapes sells a really nice looking 5v PT as well. Might check that out too. :)

OH lawdy I paniced over a precise 10440 in the classifieds just now...... Must hold out for vv or at least 5 v. Mod shopping is killin me.

I'll head over to madvapes and have a look.

p.s. The classifieds just kill me.. I get all panicky trying to make my mind up and worry someone else is going to snatch it up and then I decide I want it and cannot, but I'm stocking there nonetheless :vapor:

There's a Tek mod for 130 and shipping in the Classifieds right now!. I want it so bad but I'm going to spend my extra money on my mother in law...I got her to vape tonight and she liked it. She's had a rough year, and I'm afraid she won't be with us much longer so I hope this is one thing that will help her be more comfy. ANYWAY. That does look like a sweet little mod. I picked up the 5v pt from the classifieds today and saved me a big ol bunch of money to spend on MIL.
