This is just my :2c: on the jwraps. I recently got a Billet Box and if you are familiar with this device it is carbon fiber with aluminum finish all around that can very easily get scratches. Wanting to protect this device I ordered a clear jwrap. I really liked jwrap but one night I could not get the back slide cover off and after about 10 minutes realized the jwrap was interfering with the slide even though I had the jwrap perfectly installed and correctly centered. Now you won't have this particular issue on the MicroStick device since there is no slide cover but the other thing I realized is this. After only having the jwrap on for 2 weeks after removing there was some glue stuck that stayed on the device. Since this was pretty fresh I was able to remove. What I fear is if the jwrap is left on for a long period of time and exposed to different temperature conditions and then after some time you may want to get rid of the jwrap you may be left with glue stuck to the device which may not be able to be removed or may be very difficult to remove cleanly. The Billet Box is a glossy device so maybe easier but the MicroStick finish (matte like) I think that glue would be worse.

The other thing I realized is that I really liked holding my device and the feel of the carbon fiber and aluminum finish in my hand without the plastic. Same goes for my MicroStick satined aluminium body with black anodized finish. It just wouldn't have that same feel with a plastic jwrap on it. Again just my :2c:

Here's mine. Received Dec. 23rd. Daily use with lots of pocket time, though usually a pocket of its own.

Sent from the backwoods of Maine.

Yea, I am satisfied to know that there is an apparent difference in the finishes! Yours is more of a deeper black, mine is very very "pale"! I'm not sure to just go ahead and use and probably be ok with it?!? I actually was looking at the leather cases by Parish for the Microstick and that would solve the issue but I would want 2, one for each mode, but that would be expensive to protect something that I thought would be alot more scratch resistant. Let's see if others post their used mod and see what the waiters looks like when they arrive. I am a little bummed about it at the moment! Btw, I think I like it better in 500 mode as far as hand size and still very compact!

Good point! I have a couple jwraps on provaris, I am curious when I remove what residue will be left behind. I have several leather cases from Parish for the provaris and love their quality leather but was not really wanting to wrap or put on a case on the Microstick but we will see! I did notice even after I had already contacted Anna at Parish that mini Ecig had them on their site as well!

Well, here are a couple pics of the Microstick tonite. The extender is appears to have a perfect finish compared to the main mod. Took a Sophia/Slim Tank and a 350 battery and this baby is very very compact! Hit very nicely! I am a little concerned about the finish as with what happened with Bosco's and mine right out of the box, I am skeptical at the moment!! I think I will contact vaperev as well with a picture as it arrived and see what they say! Bosco, will you post a pic of yours with the scratches? Could I get a couple other owners post a pic of theirs from some normal use, please?

What do y'all think?

That does not look right. It looks like the anodizing job was interrupted before it was complete, or was not applied properly.

Mine is a much deeper black. I take it with me everywhere, and it looks as clear and unmarked as the day I received it. Even the bottom is perfect, and that sits on tables all the time.

I thought I had scuffed it a few times, but the white marks that looked like scratches wiped right off and left nothing behind. This is by far the most scuff-resistant device I own - much like I suspect my new Provari Stealth will be, which has a similar treatment.

Edit: my Microstick has the even, deep black color and texture of your extender.

That finish def. looks different from the "new" batch? And it appears as if the original run had an engraved logo or at least a different color ink? Callmecletus can you confirm? The new batch looks as if it has been "Pad Printed" I don't own one to compare, but visually there appear to be differences...

Here are some pics of my microstick. I had some trouble getting the right light . .didn't want to exaggerate the scratches but I want you to be able to see them, of course . . .

I got a response from VapeRev. Not a good one. Basically they told me that regardless of what a mfg might claim it's on me to take care of the item and not scratch it. I don't really want to be all flamey-flamey on the internet . .obviously VapeRev has lost a customer. I could understand if there is/was nothing they could do about it - but the tone of the email was pretty condescending and just rubbed me the wrong way. They didn't even, for example, say "sorry that happened".

The scratches in the pic were made just from a few minutes in a pocket with 1 key. Not running, jumping, etc . .or anything that would cause pressure to be applied. Just lightly brushing against each other.

Since quality is hit or miss at any price level . . might as well just buy from China.

Holy cow, Bridget - we're microstick buddies! Mine is 1385!

It's a decent device and I enjoy using it - finish aside. It's quite overpriced with this finish quality but I will definitely get my use out of it. the thing that really *gets* me is the claim of hardness. Why make that claim? I would've still bought it - but now I'm super annoyed just because of the false claim.
edit:
With that - I've probably said all I should say about this. Time to move on and get back to vaping.

Lol, too funny!

I agree on the 'hardness'. The pics on the website show them dangling it with a set of keys. I just hope they will make it right. But after such a long wait, I don't want to be without mine if we have to send it back and wait for another.

From mini-ecig known issues:

"The MicroStick with small marks is fully functional. These marks will not get worse or bigger.
To improve the MicroStick visually you can use a black permanent marker.
The MicroStick is so small that even a tiniest problem on the surface is visible.”

It appears finish quality is in no way guaranteed.

I've really come to loathe Vaperev, because of this attitude. And others here have expressed similar sentiments - overpriced, expensive shipping, but most importantly, gulag customer service.

Donkey, you guys deserve better vendors to represent your products in the US.

I share your sentiments. I went to buy one from Vaperev, being the only place that had them, added to cart along with some extra batteries and saw the ~$12 shipping. Nope! And then a %50 mark up on the extender? Wow! Domo would be an excellent choice in vendors. Did anyone else notice it took VR about a week to sell out of a product that is clearly in high demand?

I wear a bulky titanium ring on my left hand, so everyone is aware I am married to Lady Science. I never ever hold any mod with that hand when the ring is on. This goes for any mod I own - Provaris, Microstick, Lux, BB, etc.

Handling with a ringed finger, keeping in a pocket with keys - any such behavior will lead to scratches on any mod. I can tell you the Microstick is very scratch resistant compared to other mods. Behavior that left tiny scratches on my Billet Box only left white scuffs on my Microstick, which were not scratches but residue, and wiped right off with a single rub of my thumb.

I do believe the strange not-quite-black anodizing on some of the Microsticks from the new batch is an issue though.

I agree, Domo is a good choice. he's perseas' man in the US, can't go wrong with that.

Yeah, there is something wrong with the finish. Mine is now the proud possession of my wife, lol, and she is hard on mods. I'm pretty sure she just throws it in her purse along with everything else no matter how much I urge her to use the side pockets, yet not a scratch on it. I really feel for you guys having issues, it sucks!! :(

That said, I'd love to remove the black and have a raw metal Microstick, if I could apply something to protect it from corrosion.
