Absolutely, hands down - I recommend your friend get the ProVari. Not only is it a far superior PV to the Darwin in so so many ways, in my opinion...your friend won't need to worry about it arriving in the mail. I'll PM you as to why, Drac.

I got the ProVari in late March - the original base unit - and the honeymoon shows no signs of ever ending. I love everything about it. I'd be happy to share more detail as to why, but yeah.

Here are two excellent vids too - video reviews from Scott Bonner in the UK. The first is for the ProVari (which he loved) and the second is for the Darwin (which he hated, lol):

What a load of crap Rachel, no offense.

Please enlighten me as to how the provari is far superior in many ways? The provari is nice, but that's a pretty strong endorsement. Jack has Darwin in stock, and the only thing better then Evolv's customer service is Jack's. So again, please elaborate?

Hey look! A balanced review! How about that!

The provari is very nice, but the Darwin is the real deal. Do some reading, watch "multiple balanced reviews", and decide what's important to you. If you like the tube mod style, and think you'd like to set a voltage and vape it pretty consistently, the provari may be right for you. Warnings: navigating the menu can be a pain, and battery life isn't the greatest if you're running higher voltages.

If you can handle the look of the Darwin, I would almost suggest that IT is far superior in almost every way, including ease of use, versatility, pocketability, battery life, and performance. I've done the research, vaped both, and made my choice. if you take the time to learn about both, I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose.

Hi All
I know someone who has a GLV3 coming soon if it makes it across the border. But since things may be getting tougher he was also thinking of picking up a vv Provari (USA) only or the Darwin in Canada. Does anyone have one of these and what would you recommend for him/her/it

No offense taken, Chinner. Obviously people get very passionate about their favourite devices. I don't think there's a mod out there that isn't someone's favourite to the exclusion of all else. All I can say is Scott's reviews were honest...and for my money, they were pretty convincing as well.

But I don't want to offend, or get into a big ProVari vs Darwin thing again, lol. I've posted about both several times before. So let's just agree to disagree, shall we?

I certainly encourage everyone to look at multiple reviews & pick whatever makes them happy. In my case, I'm with Scott - his video confirmed everything I disliked about the Darwin, and then some. I feel that much happier for having bought the ProVari after watching...and I was already in love with it.

To each their own!

It's cool. Discussions like this are what make ECF fun!

I still think you'll have a hard time proving provari is superior. I'll challenge you to a Toronto Darwin vs. Provari vape-off anyday lol!

Thanks for the info. It would be nice if I could walk into a store and check them both out. Gotta do some more research. Thanks again
Drac

Hey is there any vape meet's out there? That's the best advice I can give, and that's actually how I made my decision. Went out, got to try both for a night and then decide.

I did hours and hours of research and tried everything Ive collected so far before buying anything. I would strongly reccomend any one of my mods to anyone

if it isn't a juice feeder then it's just another shaped battery to me

I agree with Pip for the most part. Tube mods are just battery holders. The provari is a fancy tube mod with a boost circuit to trick a 3.7v battery into pumping 6v. I have a tube mod with 3.7, 5, and 6v batteries, which to me makes a provari redundant in my collection.

The variable wattage capability of the Darwin is prime example of new technology being applied to vaping. It can hardly be lumped in with the rest of the battery holders.. Now if it only had a feed system......... :)

I have a vape mate and a couple map tanks and use both on my Darwin.
The tanks work great on the Darwin, but you'll need a gooseneck adapter to close the arm.
The vape mate will fit any 510 atomizer. The functionality remains good but again, it's a bit much to pocket on any mod really.

So in closing, both tanks and the vapemate will both work on either the Darwin or provari, but if you're into this sort of thing, you may want to have another look at the reo grand. The battery options are very flexible, and I've honestly never leaked a drop of juice since I started using it!

Cheers!

    in a cave, eh?

FWIW, the Provari isn't just another tube mod. It regulates voltage. When a battery comes straight off of the charger, its voltage charge is higher than the stated voltage. A 3.7 volt battery can come off the charger at 4.2 volts easy and then wind down as the battery loses its charge. When you set the voltage on the Provari at 4.2 volts (or whatever) it stays at 4.2 volts. When you put an atomizer on the Provari, the voltage remains at the 4.2 volts you set even under load. The same is true of the Darwin.

The Provari takes a single battery and doubles the voltage with electronics, so that battery won't last as long in a Provari. In a regular tube mode, you can stack batteries for higher voltages and the batteries will last longer that way.

So, when you're comparing, try to compare apples with apples. The Provari really isn't like a RoughStack or GGTS or GLV or other battery stacker tube mod.

I've had my eye on the Provari for about a week. I think it looks great, and has received many great reviews. The tech in the Darwin is interesting, but it is on the high side price wise, and I know it sounds silly, but I don't like the way it looks. Every time I see a picture of the Provari with a Liquinator on it, it gets harder and harder to NOT order it :)

I'm still new to vaping, and want to get a handle on all the equipment I have already and on the way before I buy another mod.

I'll second Chinners' vote on the REO (although I'm liking the mini more than the grand lately - fits nicer in the hand), even though you're not looking at it due to the GLV 3 purchase. The only reason I didn't order a GLV 3 was because I had already ordered the REO, so I went with the GLV 2 mini instead :)

Hi I know what you mean by the tank on it. The tornado tank also looks great. Most of us have quit a potentially fatal habit of smoking. We are now on the road to to a cleaner, healthier lifestyle. What harm is there in getting a few toys along the way. Think howl much cigs cost then throw in the price of a funeral. We should be able to get a decent PV collection.
I ordered the GLV3 before I even knew about the REO. After the vv Mod I might get the GLV super mini. No matter what we get now in a few months some latest, greatest mod will come out and we will have to have it.

So true... I used to be all about the shiniest newest cell phones and personal electronics, tv's, etc... I finally got that under control around two years ago. Now I find myself scrolling through supplier websites looking at new vaping stuff. I figure in two months, when I hit the "break even" point again, I'll spend some more on vaping gadgets :)
