So some goodish news (in a way). This morning I decided to go analog AND vape free for the first hour I was up. I STILL had the irritation even without vaping. When I did vape after an hour, it was rough again. Analog was fine at 2 hrs up and took the tickly feeling away. I'm wondering if it might not just because I was off analogs for almost 2 weeks entirely then went back for a few days light when I was having gear issues. Neither milk nor water seemed to help on vaping side. I'll just try and power through it and know that when I was analog-free, it wasn't an issue for me.

Have you switched your juice flavors? Most flavoring has PG in it as a base for the flavoring. If you are really sensitive to PG you might need to find juices that use 100% Vg flavored base.

I vape a different flavor every 0.5 ml lol I have some juices with 100% vg flavored base and it's been the same issue. Thanks though!

I remember when I started just vaping in the morning. I was a transitional vaper, did both smoking and vaping for a month. The vape in the morning was harsh on my throat and lungs. It does go away. It takes time for the body to get used to a different way to get the nic.

Another thing that helped, lowering the nic. At 24mg...way to harsh. 18mg was better and when I managed to go down to 15mg it was even better.

I know someone that can't get past the morning vape harshness. He only has a cig in the morning and the rest of the day he Vapes. It's not a bad thing. Count the ones you don't have and one or two a day is not nearly as harmful as smoking all the time.

Ha! I read this after my last update - so my feeling after today is probably right. When I was 100% analog free, it DID go away. The balancing for me is rather tricky. I've read a lot on the other alkaloids in tobacco other than nicotine and I think there's something I really "need." I have diagnosed ADHD. When analogs are gone or < 5, I really have focus problems unless I get onto second wind and I'm on phone a lot with business and get into this bad habit of interrupting people. Wish I were in US right now to get some WTA.

I don't feel bad about not being off analogs entirely right now. But the morning is an issue for me. When I have an analog too soon in the morning, it almost sets the day off. I'd be more comfortable at this stage with reserving analogs for the times/days where I need it to cope with symptoms. That is probably 3-6 days in a typical week and anywhere from 1-5 times in an individual days. Much better than 50/day!

You're right on nic level. I had to cut down to 12 mg from splitting between 12/24. Now I'm finding 12 at night with chain vaping to be too much (insomnia anyone? :)) so am cutting to 10 mg at night. I still have an ego with 24mg butterscotch on hand for the nic urges and make take 1-4 puffs a day on that.

Enjoy your posts!

FWIW, it took about three weeks cigarette-free before I could vape immediately after waking up without coughing. The smoke anesthetizes our throats, whereas vapor doesn't -- or at least that's the best theory I've heard -- and so, presumably, a morning cigarette 'hurts' less than a morning vape. And a smoker's throat, again presumably, is a tender mess in the morning.

On the upside, you don't have to inhale vapor to absorb nicotine, so what I did was simply to skip the inhaling part when the coughing got unbearable.

Boom on the anesthetization aspect! Makes sense.

Good luck with it, Sharon! I was going to mention that if you continue to have morning throat issues, you might give a little Swedish Snus a try. It's kinda gross at first but by the third time I tried it, it wasn't so bad. I use General brand, and the regular sized packets (not loose, ewww!). Now I use those when I have huge "needy" cravings and it works really well.

Might be something to help until you can get some WTA.

Thanks! I had actually checked into Swedish Snus but am in Canada right now and it's not available anywhere local to me. (I tried contacting General and local tobacco shops) I can't find anywhere that will ship it within Canada. I leave on Nov 1st for vacation in Dominican Republic so will need to wait til I get back to see if I still need it and order outside the country.

Dang, I would have thought that would be available in Canada. That's crazy! Well good luck to you anyway! :)

If you try vaping in the morning again you can try what I do. I turn my voltage way down for the 1st hour and that seems to work then I turn it back up as the day goes on.
That may be a thought! I never had the throat issue before I went to an MVP with VV. I usually have it at 4.7 for most juices.

That would kill me I was using at 4 but backed off to 3.5
interestingly enough I also realized I was cooking my coils and now vape at 3.7 or 3.8 and not only does my juice not look burnt it tastes sweeter. not to mention my coils last longer

I find I have to draw too hard under 4.5. I've had one canker sore battle which felt like it was from drawing on Ego and don't want more

Snus is available in almost every convenient/gas station store here in the mid west. I haven't used it in several years. The thing I liked most about it was that you could "swallow" instead of having to "spit" into container all the time. I haven't done my research on this topic but I think it is a highly refined tobacco product that has very few if any carcinogens. Do you're own research if you want to go down this route but I think it is much safer than smoking or chewing tobacco. It actually helped me slow my "analog" usage down until I found vaping.

I'm specifically interested in Swedish snus. One brand has become available in parts of Canada recently but no vendors local to me have it and you can't get it mail order in Canada (from what I've seen). I go on vacation on Nov 1st and if I can't find it within Canada before I leave, I'll order some from Europe when I return.

Honestly, I'm not concerned about the minimal amount of carcinogens. The side effects and risks from ADHD meds would be much more problematic.

Funny that you mention that. I think there was a thread not too long ago about smoking and ADHD. Never been diagnosed but I think a lot of the hand/mouth/oral fixation can be considered some type of ADHD disorder. Just as someone may check the lock "3" times before going to bed...I consider my hand to mouth thing very similar. No doctor or psychologist just saying ;)

There is nothing wrong with using nicotine gum or even a patch until your lungs totally wake up in the morning. When I started vaping again a few months ago, I would use the patch as well as vape. I would only go up to about 18mg on the juice during the day, but go up to 24mg in the evening. The reason for that is you will get high. Very high. But I really enjoyed that in the evening, just couldn't do it while I was working. I even wore the patch to sleep at night. The only problem with that is you might get nightmares. I kind of liked them, but a lot of people don't.

The bottom line is just do whatever it takes to stay off the analogs. Even now my lungs hurt a little bit in the morning, but not that much anymore. At least not like it did for the first month or so.

Nobody really has ADD or ADHD ;) .

Just kidding everyone.

Pfft! The great side for me is the ability to hyperfocus.

Wow on your nic levels before... I'm doing 12 mg during day and 10 mg at night. Actually 2 days of 10 mg straight since I've been vaping one liquid for once. With 12 mg at night, have a hard time sleeping.

When did you use the patch?
