I had one when I first quit and started vaping. I think it was like 2 to 3 weeks into vaping when it happened. The good news is it went away and haven't had another. I'm going on 6 months now analog free. So just hang in there. Your body is going through some changes. It'll work itself out.

Tip: If by chance you have an aloe vera plant (or juice) rub some of it on the sores. That's what I did and took it away within two days.

Happy vaping!

OMG I can't believe I see this new topic so close to the top...I came to this part of the forum to write a thread about this very topic........

This started a few weeks ago, about a month or so after full vaping, no analogs at all during this time. I have two in my mouth right now, seems like when one heals another pops up. I can't stand this, and I have never had these before (except occasional stomach virus here and there that they came along with). I was at a loss as to what was causing this until I came across something the other day that suggested ecigs can cause it and then i realized wow, that might really be what is going on.

So does anyone have any idea WHY ecigs would cause mouth ulcers? I have seen this more than a few times so i honestly believe they are the culprit. I do not believe it is from quitting analogs. I do not think it would have taken a month for this to occur after quitting and I did not smoke that much of them. I only smoked a few analogs in the evening - i wasn't a big smoker so i seriously doubt i'd get them from that.

I am a bit afraid thinking this product could cause ulcers - that doesn't sound healthy at all.

Anyone have any thoughts on this issue? Did it happen to you to? If so did they finally cease?

How long have you been vaping? How long since you have quit analogs? Just curious....I feel ya, this is NOT a very comfortable side affect.

My guess it is PG. PG did this to me, as well as drying my mouth and throat out relentlessly. Try VG juices, with little to no PG (my DIYs only have PG from the flavorings I use). I am betting this will fix the situation.

For pain relief, try gargling with a water solution of baking soda. It will raise the pH of the mouth, and it is low pH that really irritates mouth sores.

I saw that that is one of the symtoms of vaping that ppl are reporting to the FDA along with rashes, sore throat, ect. I think it from pg, but many will tell you that everything that may happen is a result of quitting smoking. It throws them off if you still smoke...not thhat nothing happens when you quit, Im just saying.

I was told by my dental hygenist that this is a common symptom when quitting smoking. When I first quit I used the commit lozenges- got the ulcers, blamed the lozenges. Quit using the lozenges and vaped exclusively for 3 months, still ulcers, blamed the vaping. Quit vaping and went to swedish snus, still ulcers, then dental hygenist told me what she did. I got a prescription for antiviral cream which made them go away quickly if I used it as soon as i felt one coming on. After about 7 or 8 months ciggie free, they just stopped happening. Due to them coming on nomatter what I was doing, I think it was from quitting ciggies for me.

10 months in and i still get them ocassionally. Mostly when i get juice in my mouth. Also when I use high nic juices for a majority of a day. they seem to develop in the creases your mouth makes when you make the sucking/inhilation movement, atties that have a stiff draw like an 801 or clogged up 510 i feel can egg them on. i suggest a 306 or 901 because they have a light draw.

My sister had this problem vaping VG. The mouth sores were quite bad at first. She stopped vaping for a couple weeks and went back to it. Her doctor examined the sores - they weren't infected - just painful and uncomfortable. The Doc recommended a B complex vitamin (100ml of all the B's) and Zinc.

Hard to know though if it's the bases or the flavorings.

Im getting mouth ulcers too like twice in a month. And its not just one, I have like 2 or 3 at a time. Ive been vaping for 8 months now. I now vape pure VG (using distilled as thinner) but still it wont go away. Its killing me. I mix my own liquid. Could it be the flavorings that I use? Or maybe Im allergic to VG and should go back to using PG instead? But PG makes my nose bleed. :(

Quoted for truth. I got them when I first started vaping and went back to smoking. After they went away, I tried again and got them again. I found a correlation between where they popped up and where I got juice in my mouth. The roof of my mouth will also get really red and sore where the vapor travels through. Using biotene mouthwash several times a day does wonders, although I've been fine after lowering my nic down to 24mg.

Well for me i strongly doubt there is a correlation with where juice gets in my mouth and the ulcer because juice mostly gets on my tongue, and the surrounding mouth area just beside it...the ulcers have been in odd places like the side of a cheek where juice never touched, or upper mouth in between lip and top teeth near mouth roof....that is where they come about the most, and that doesn't even seem like a place the smoke would touch the most.

It's perplexing me and i hope they cease. right now, knock on wood, i don't have one present.

This could be completely unhelpful, but being curious about the mouth ulcers and skin breakouts, I've started wondering about possible vitamin deficiency. I'm not sure how the constant dehydration - rehydration cycle of vaping impacts us, but because of it, I started taking a multivitamin every day. I've even considered drinking pedialyte instead of water occasionally.

It may not be a one-size-fits-all explanation, and it's important to pay attention to breakouts like these. Eruptions of any kind have a source. But for me, something as simple as a multivitamin has really helped.

I think it is a valid thought, but I do take a multivitamin daily - even before I started vaping. I also take Vit C and Fish oil daily. I don't think it would be a vit deficiency but it could be linked to some possible dehydration although I do try to drink more water.

Mouth ulcers can be caused by a lot of different things. May not necessarily be the vape. How often do you wash the tip of your e cig?

Have you noticed an increase in how often you wake with a dry mouth/throat? Sometimes all it can take for an ulcer is a small tear on the inside of your mouth (which may be caused from being overly dry for a long period).... mix that with a little funky bacteria, and an ulcer.
* Mouth injury: biting or chewing the inside of the mouth causes ulcers as does the excessive use of a toothbrush. They can also be caused by dental treatment, a sports injury or poorly fitting dentures.
* Bad diet: a diet lacking in certain vitamins, folic acid or iron can trigger the development of mouth ulcers.
* Allergies: in rare cases a food allergy might be a factor or an allergy to bacteria present in the mouth.
* Hormones: women are more prone to mouth ulcers than men which are due to changes in their hormone levels. They are likely to develop mouth ulcers at the onset of a period, during pregnancy or after menopause.
* Stopping smoking: many people who stop smoking find that they develop mouth ulcers as a consequence. This is the body’s reaction to chemical changes from smoking cessation and these ulcers will disappear after a short period of time.
* Hereditary: there are cases where more than one member of a family is prone to mouth ulcers. If either of your parents are prone to persistent mouth ulcers then there is very good chance you will do the same.
* Medical condition: mouth ulcers can be caused by an underlying medical problem such as Coeliac Disease, Crohn’s Disease, Reiter’s Syndrome, Ulcerative Colitis and immune system disorders e.g. HIV. Any disease which causes an inflammation in the body or affects your immune system in some way can cause mouth ulcers. Note: but not every ulcer will be the aphthous type.
* Medicine: mouth ulcers can develop as a reaction to a certain type of medication. These include beta-blockers (e.g. high blood pressure), Nicorandil (angina medication) and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). In the latter case this includes over the counter drugs such as Ibuprofen. Mouth ulcers can develop when the medicine is first taken or if the dosage is increased. In most cases this is a temporary side effect and will disappear after a period of time.
* Bacteria: there are numerous kinds of bacteria present in the mouth and these can cause mouth ulcers. One such example is ‘helicobacter pylori’.
* Diet: foods which are highly acidic are known triggers for mouth ulcers and include eggs, coffee, cheese, strawberries and pineapple.
* Lifestyle: excessive stress or anxiety puts pressure on the immune system which can also cause mouth ulcers. Smoking and drinking to excess can also lead to the development of ulcers.
* Toothpaste: many brands of toothpaste contain the ingredient sodium lauryl sulphate which can cause mouth ulcers.
