Did you put the rubber grommet back on the outside of the stem? since I started rewicking my PT heads with cotton I have forgotten it twice and had flooding issues.
I accidentally got a Max VG bottle from a brick and mortar shop once. It was like vaping a waterfall! I think they have to have put a ton of flavoring in it too. Not sure what it would equate to in terms of flavor shots at MBV tho. As far as TH goes, it was as smooth as smooth gets even in my dual coil mech build. With your harsh juice it could be something in their flavoring or even an extra ingredient they are adding just for TH. There are several things that can be used - PG isn't the only source for TH. *shrug*
Yeah, it could also be that it isn't down all the way, or too little wick to cover the holes between the grommet, or not wicking fast enough as has been mentioned due to the high VG.

Ok boys and girls, the strangest thing happened this morning, my door bell was being rung like someone was on crack or something and I expected it to be one of the neighbor kids across the way, they have done this before and ran, that is until I caught them doing it once, scared the crap out of the little buggers, as soon as they went to ring it, there were 6 of them about 6 - 10 years old, I snatched open the door real quick, funny as hell, anyway it wasn't them, it was my Maillady, she didn't hang around by the time I got to the door and opened it she was already back in her jeep, she left a package by the door, she has never, ever done that, she typically puts them in the big box out by the street. Well, get the package in, look at where it came from and it was from MBV, heavy and couldn't figure out what the hell it was, I haven't been able to order since I got the flavorings a month and 1/2 ago, whatever, anyway, inside were 5 bottles of 50/50 PG/VG one of which was 36 mg of Nic juice and there were also 14 bottles of flavoring in there as well and 3 1 oz empty bottles for putting juice in, oh and they did come with 4 of the pour spouts. So, Santa and his elves where at work here big time, it's not often that I get choked up but this did it! So Santa and all your helpers, I want to thank you so very much, I cannot express how much this has meant to me. Damn getting choked up again! Ok, I just had to get that out. There are some truly awesome folks around, I have never seen so many in one place in my life! I just have no words for how this made me feel!
There is another possibility with high VG, I have heard of wicking issues and many add some distilled water to thin it a bit.
Just another thought as to what would be causing harshness....
Yep, this was my guess as well. As soon as Miarose mentioned how wonderfully thick it was I thought "I wonder if the cotton is soaking up enough of it."
Almost did that myself and decided to never take it off fully, just slide it up enough to get the stem off 'n on

I do use a very thin strand over the top of the coil, It is twisted very tightly so it doesn't block airflow. It stops the coil from spitting liquid into my mouth, but I agree, that ball on the top of the coil is too much.
