nah don't feel bad for me. like sean said, the button will probably loosen up some with use. and he is also right about it being more convenient if it was located on the side. to me, the whole thing just feels very masculine. and i am anything but. however, i will adjust (tho i will not grow a PUD). :p

(note: This reply is not directed *at* anyone, I'm just frustrated atm.)

Yep, that's the same study I looked at before, although there are more details now than when I first saw it. I'll reiterate what I said then... gas chromatography != human studies, and what chemicals do to cells in a petri dish != human studies. In petri dishes, we've already cured cancer, cystic fibrosis, and AIDS. Seriously... I used to work on a few research teams. I was present at all of those very exciting moments.... and you've probably never even heard they happened. Why? Because as soon as research moved from petri dish to actual human body, what we thought we'd worked out was, in order - insanely toxic, useless, and useless. In all three cases the human studies were aborted within days/months because they weren't *going* anywhere and we could all see that.

Petri dish studies and gas chromo are the first step used for medical folks to *figure things out*. If every company that has a cinnamon juice yanks it in a panic based on this one study (or any study like it), we won't have cinnamon juices for *years*... because that's how long it will take to get from where we are now to "what does this actually do *in the body*, not to cells in isolation?"

I'm just going to throw out this little bit of information as well, everything that Sean stated is true and it also needs to be taken into account that you are not directly inhaling pure uncut Cinnamon be it Ceylon or Cassia strains, Ceylon being True cinnamon and Cassia which is typically what you would get from the grocery store used in baking.

Now, in addition there 2 common parts of cinnamon that are used, everyone typically knows about the bark which is your sticks but also your cinnamon power, however the leaves are also used mostly for Aromatherapy applications and need to be diluted when dealing with the Pure Uncut oil. You are not vaping pure cinnamon, it's diluted, same is true for other plant material such as Eucalyptus, of where there are also 3 types that are used. All of the nature ingredients have been used to thousands of years for one condition or another, alternative medicine, aromatherapy etc. Most of all common medicines have the bases off of these old remedy's and are still used to this day. Anything done in excess is not good for you, not even water!

I still make my own incense and use Cassia as it is stronger and I cut it with, guess what, PG, I add the cassia oil to PG and soak cones in it. I have been burning this for over 20 years and i'm still here!

Cinnamon has many health benefits. It has shown promise in the treatment of diabetes, arthritis, high cholesterol, memory function, and even leukemia and lymphoma.

Although cinnamon is full of nutrients like manganese, iron and calcium, the real source of cinnamon's healing properties are the various terpenoids (organic compounds) found in cinnamon oil. These oils are high in antioxidant proanthocyanins.

Cinnamon has been used as a treatment in traditional medicine for over five thousand years!

Although there are four main varieties of cinnamon, Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), and Cassia cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) are the most popular. Cinnamon health benefits don't seem to be significantly different from one type to another.

Ceylon cinnamon is sometimes called "true cinnamon". It is more expensive and has a sweet taste, milder than Cassia. The quills are softer and can be easily ground in a coffee grinder. Ceylon cinnamon is usually only sold in specialty stores. Ceylon cinnamon uses only the thin inner bark, and thus has a finer, less dense, and more crumbly texture.

Cassia cinnamon, the less expensive variety, is the most common cinnamon sold in supermarkets in North America. This variety grows on small trees in India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Brazil, Vietnam, and Egypt. It has a darker color and the quills are harder.

These varieties are sometimes sold labeled as cinnamon, and sometimes distinguished from true cinnamon as "Chinese cinnamon," "Vietnamese cinnamon," or "Indonesian cinnamon." Cassia has a much stronger flavor than Ceylon cinnamon, is generally reddish-brown in color, hard and woody in texture, and thicker, as all of the layers of bark are used.

The fact is that anything that you take in has the potential to be harmful if done in excess. Again, you put something in a small enclosed area there are hundreds of everyday items that will kill cells of in a petrie dish!

amen, dear. cinnamon, like every other substance we ingest, will affect SOMEONE negatively. that is no reason to over react. i mean, what would happen if they did that with coffee? there would be a ginormous uprising like nothing ever seen before!

There you go right in a nutshell! Thanks Kelli... :toast:

It says a lot about their customer service though. Its like saying 'hey, we know our juice has diacetyl but black Friday! We wanna make money' I prefer the route mbv is taking :)

Sadly I have no cinnamon knowledge and haven't had a chance to read the article.

Yes, I do commend them for that! I have always made sure that my customers when buying Pure Uncut Essential Oils actually knew what there were for, how to handle them and make sure that they were all diluted with a carrier oil before use as used raw, they can burn and cause many issues, where when diluted they have many positive properties for many conditions.

I think you just made my point better than I did, Dusty. I think a prominently placed info page (or warning, if they'd legally prefer that term) on the relevant juice pages would be completely sufficient, given what we know right now - and more importantly, what we *don't* know. We don't know what *any* of these juices are doing to us long term. Do I want popcorn lung, no. Do I want all the information available, oh god yes. But considering the relative absence of facts that is available to us re: ejuice, I also want to make my own, informed decision about what I'm comfortable with. I get upset when companies choose to make those decisions for me rather than give me the information to make those decisions for myself.

If ya'all could help me out on this thread I'd appreciate it.
Lots of sharks in the water.

I've posted all I am going to in that thread now, there is an individual that is also in there that loves to create issues and was on here a few days ago as well.

You can fix stupid nor stop rumors, good bad or indifferent, some people just feed off of the negativity and they are now going to try and turn a proactive move into one of panic and use it slam a company.

I do agree. I think it's a brash move to do this now, right before a big sale.
When a simple disclaimer would suffice.
Not understanding.

When I was selling Pure Essential Oils on eBay every single items had full disclosure about where it came from how it was extracted, be it by steam distillation or solvent extracted and even those I didn't carry too many of as you can never remove all of the solvent used for extraction even, but there are some oils that cannot be obtained with out that method, such as Gardenia, Jasmine, Calendula etc but all still needed to be diluted, they were also given the full spectrum test performed on them and what esters, alcohols etc that were in the oils.

The flavorings don't contain near the amount of these chemicals that pure essential oils do, but they probably should be more in your face, just because of what is now happening with the fear mongering that is taking place with this Cinnamon fiasco! However, I again, commend MBV for being proactive, I will be more then curious to see how many other vendors if any take the same approach, cause as it stands now, the fear mongers are going to use it to bash MBV for something that did that was showing concern for their customers, whether is turns out to be hogwash or not!

That thread looks a little too contentious for me right now - I'm not in the mood for a you-know-what-slinging match. I'll take a peek in the morning, and if it's calmed down a bit, I'll do some more in depth translating over there.

Trust me, with the people that are in there now, that isn't going to happen, I posted all I am going to in there, again, you just can't fix stupid! So don't stress yourself out over there!!!

Basically what it says is "Some cinnamon flavorings emit some chemicals that kill some cells in petri dishes."

That might be enough for some people to make the choice to avoid cinnamon, and I would entirely support anyone who made that choice. It's not *nearly* enough information to categorically state "all cinnamon juices kill cells in petri dishes," though, and it's *certainly* not enough information to make any statements at all about whether *any* cinnamon juice does *anything* bad to the human body. It may, it may not - we don't know, because they haven't gotten that far in their testing.

They better not get rid of cinnamon!!!

I use the part of my thumb near the joint. I hold it in my hand with the button facing me. But I have large hands so that may not work for you. My buttons were not bad to start with though.

So for all the DIY'ers here, are Flavor West flavorings the exact thing MBV is using? As in, I can order http://flavorwest.com/index.php/popular-products/extreme-ice.html and it's the same exact thing MBV sells in the DIY section, and I could use ~12.5% or so in a unflavored nic base? Presumably the same hold true for the Cinnamon Roll flavoring?
