That last post made me an ultra member. Yeame. Heck been a member long enough to have it 20 times over. Just been too lazy.
Having *disastrously* lost the genetic lottery, I am also only 5 feet tall!Unfortunately I haven't weighed 99lbs since I was in high school and playing five sports six days a week... I'm not *much* heavier than that, but you know how it goes when you only have 5 feet worth of frame to put that weight, every pound gained feels like twenty, and since I've only got about 15 pounds to lose, it takes *forever* for every pound to come off. Prednisone doesn't help on that front. I don't care about the extra weight from a looks perspective but my joints remind me every day that I'm carrying around more than they'd like. One more reason I need to get to that accessible gym!
I appreciate the offer though, humorous though the image is.Fortunately, I've got manual chairs to use in the meantime, and those will do fine for getting me around the house and quick necessary errands. I'll just be avoiding any less-than-crucial trips for a few days.

And can I just say, there's some seriously good people on this thread. Congratulations to you who do these selfless things for people. Sometimes I see what's going on in this world and I think I've lost all faith in humanity. I have this theory that mother nature has a failsafe and if we get fracked beyond repair, she's just going to pull the plug on the whole thing and blow us all to kingdom come via the yellowstone caldera. Sometimes I think we're really close to that fate. A trash island the size of texas in our ocean and people murdering each other over an xbox one. I mean, really. REALLY?!?! It's a hard thing, to be giving. Especially if you're in need yourself and the balance is so upset that those of us who help other people are forced to sacrifice our own comfort while football players, a number of whom indulge in all manner of toxic and shameless behavior, are quibbling over $1million on their $20million contract. But it's good to know you're out there still. I applaud you.
Ummm, no, too easy! Yet again, sitting on my hands, must refrain, must, but damn..... It's right there.... darn it!![]()

i just knew that would bring you out of your cave! View attachment 284375
there is a lot of bad stuff in this world. but i am convinced that the good guys still far outnumber the bad. i think most people are still innately kind and giving. i have seen examples of this in the last month around here. we had devastating storms that left hundreds of homes destroyed and thousands of people in need. the surrounding community has stepped up in countless ways to help those affected. it gives one faith in humanity that the news media attempts to dash daily with the steady stream of bad news. lots of good things going on in this country (and world). you just don't hear about them as much.![]()
ever since i knew yellowstone was a volcano and that you could see the "bulge" from space... ive been freaked out
did i ever tell you you're my hero? View attachment 284372 View attachment 284373
I mostly agree. I do think there are some people who are just 100% evil. I have little tolerance for child abusers and (at the risk of inciting some derision here), maybe even more so, animal abusers. In my line of work, I've seen the worst of the worst and the impact that has on the people who know them. I work in mental health and drug and alcohol, primarily kids and teens and the abuse I witnessed firsthand and through working with the children was just enough to rot your soul. And unfortunately the system is such that these kids will be forever stigmatized and do not have the support they need to be rehabilitated and allowed back into the world as happy, functioning people. They've been sequestered in institutions and bounced around in special needs foster homes and have been failed by everything around them. For the most part, I've tried not to be jaded because that's the point where I lose my ability to do my job well and it may not sound it but I have been successful. I believe people innocent until proven guilty and I believe in second chances but I've also been edged with some realism. The real truth is that it's not about the numbers as much as it is about where these people are. Many of the worst people in the world hold positions of power and influence, making their existence count for much more than so many of the wonderful people in this world as we struggle to effect change on whatever level we can.
Anyway...enough of that. People suck sometimes, but other times they don't.
So....uhhhhhh...seen any good movies lately?![]()
i have seen the mental health system from the inside and it's not pretty. i opted out of that scene a long time ago. figured i had a better chance on my own than getting more messed up there.
saw an interesting independent movie on netflix called Melancholia Melancholia (2011) - IMDb
i liked it a lot.
