I'm just hoping that some of the people in this area pay attention and stay warm safely, don't want to see someone else have an issue like my neighbor and I had due to them using an old space heater. Back in 2001 when I was living in Dunnellon there was an older couple that used a space heater as that week we did have temps that did not go about 19 degree's and sadly the perished from smoke inhalation but the fire destroyed the home, well it was a trailer, those take all of 15 minutes to go up. Very sad, they were very nice people.

yeah they are very dangerous.....this time of yer seems we always see on the news that happens here several times. not sure why people aren't more careful with them. .......very sad.....especially when it's kids.

We just drive Subarus with studded tires :) We're equipped to deal with snow, but after a big storm it could take them a week or 2 to get to the side roads. We're pretty used to fending for ourselves. I think the biggest difference is that it's not a surprise out here, so everyone's ready for it. I remember an ice storm in Michigan, I had to drive 30 miles to get to work - I saw more cars (& a ton of cocky pickup drivers ) in the ditch on that drive than I have total all the years I've been in Montana.

We're only half a mile from a highway and hubby drives the 4 wheel drive Durango,
he doesn't stay in often. I however do not want to go out in this mess, not because
of how I drive, it's how everyone else drives. OMG they don't care the weather,
right on your bumper going down the highway, passing on double yellows if they
think you're not going fast enough. And yes they end up in the ditch all over the place.

Well at least there is advanced notice so they can at least get prepared to turn the sprinklers on so that the fruit can get a layer of ice on them which help protect them for short periods as most of the groves don't have enough heaters so that is the preferred method to help save the crops.

I remember hearing about helicopters hovering over vineyards once in the past, can you imagine the cost for that!?!?!?!!!

Everyone will see it when they go to buy orange juice in a few months. The prices will go up if they lose the crops. :( The high for today was supposed to be 43. It didn't make it above 38 and it is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow so frozen roads it will be tomorrow morning.

I'd rather have snow with no ice. When it rains and then freezes I don't care if you have 4x4, you'll end up in a ditch if you are not extremely careful. Not only that but it's almost impossible to break 2-3 inches of ice off the car just to get the door open.

Ditto on the NO ICE!!!! That is some dangerous stuff!

yep you hate to laugh at people's troubles....but ya know sometimes when you drive along the interstate and see 4wheel drive after 4wheel drive in the ditch or upside down that they THOUGHT they could drive like idiots cuz they have 4 wheel drive. happens a lot around here.

I can taste the orange and there's some lime there too which the push-ups never had. But to us it is most definitely Sherbet and quite tasty. I'm embarrassed to admit the Mini PT2 is almost half empty already. :(

Well dont be sad, fill it back up!!! That is the one downfall with my mini PT2's, can empty one real quick when its a great vape!!

I hope they don't lose too much due to frost. I always enjoyed visiting the orange groves when I lived there (and the Sangria is good too. :) ) Keep warm.

Oh, that is soooo true! Its like, hey, we got a big 4 wheel drive, lets just go drive around, then they end up needing a tow!!! Ha!!!! Not us, not worth the risk!

I am actually looking forward to it for a short period. I gotta give the rest of the others big prop's for dealing with what they do, I had my fill of that when I was in the service and have no desire to have to deal with it for months on end with the fridged temps you all endure! Too damn cold for too damn long! burrrrrrrrr

There is a road in front of our house, then it has a Y then one road goes up a hill behind our house.
It is pretty funny when it gets icy to hear trucks and cars trying to get up that hill at night.
First they come barreling down the road like it was dry. Then make the left at the Y, then you
can hear the tires spinning on ice. Their solution is to give it more gas. Period. So you hear
them rev the engine, and more tires spinning on ice. Over and over again. Thank goodness for
cell phones or we'd have to stand at the door and let them use the phone. Only once did I see
a smart driver get unstuck. An older lady in a fancy car went off road in front of our house.
She got out, dug out a little around the tires, pulled out a bag of cat litter and spread it around,
then did the back up a little, turn wheel, move forward, repeat version to get out. She did well.

It reminds me that I only have 15ml of it, well, 13.5 now. lol. But yes, I'm going to fill up again and probably order a 50ml on Friday when I get paid. May have to talk my wife into expanding the budget a bit this week to include an extra 50ml bottle. hehe

yep years ago when we lived out in the country people came to the door often asking us to use the phone or call for a tow. Now days I would be afraid to let everyone in.....times have changed.

Honestly it's not that bad here. The others have it much worse. We've had only one big winter storm in 4 years that shut down everything for 4 days since I've been here, and it happened around this time. That was the first winter we were here and my wife had pneumonia for 3 months. I wasn't sure we were going to stay at that point because of it but we're better prepared now. The cold gets tiresome but by August I'm tired of the heat too. I can't be satisfied apparently. :)

The people really made a difference. They are a lot friendlier here than in some other places I have lived. I guess they have to be. So many are pretty poor and have to rely on each other during hard times. It's both sad and uplifting at the same time.

I got some rainbow sherbet as a sample a month ago. Can't say I like it much. The throat hit reminds me of limey chalkdust. More steeping or I'll mix some blood orange in it later. glad you like it, tho.

Rainbow Sherbet is spot on. Very tasty and my wife knew what it was by smell alone.

"Is that sherbet?" Her..

Me, "Why yes, yes it is. No, you can't have any! Okay, you can."
