I won't show you pics of my setup then, it'd be dangerous :D 1bbl HERMS, all electrically controlled, fermenting in a couple of conicals & a small yeast lab.

I use to have starter yeast going and always a batch fermenting. This was probably 12 years ago at this point, I'm sure equipment for the home brewer has evolved to some extent. I never went as far as doin' all grain, I was pretty happy with the results I was gettin' :)

I'm doing well Sam. Been feeling just a bit under the weather last few days but getting better. Maybe my extreme ice will get ready to vape and I can clear out my sinuses. :)

I think I am nic-sick.

Ok.

Quick run down.

Soaped, Brushed, Cleaned. Checked all holes for burs, found no burs. Threads are smooth. Threading the plastic tank is a bit iffy. Have to be really careful there or I'll be replacing that plastic tank. Luckily you can put the metal caps on and basically leave it that way even for rebuilding. So not a big deal.

Airflow control. Right now it's pretty pointless, the draw is really tight even with the grub screw totally removed. Unfortunately I'll have to wait to drill it out until another time (no drill here). In the mean time I will deal with it.

four builds.

First build, 28 gauge, 8 wraps. Originally came out to 1.4, but once I had liquid in the tank it dropped to 1.1? bleah. Tossed the coil.

Build #2: The leg popped. I think I had just twisted it one too many times while adjusting the coil to where I wanted it.

Build #3: Leaked everwhere. I think the coil was too close to the airhole. No vapor.

Build #4: Got sick of messing with 28 gauge. It is thick and hard to manipulate. At this point I just said screw it and went back to 30 gauge. Much easier to work with. Coil came out to 1.6ohms. Draw is still tight. We have vapor and flavor, but OMG Throat hit. Yeooow. Perhaps the coil is too far away from air hole? No leakage so far.

Now everyone else complained that the screws they got weren't stainless. Mine are. so I don't know what the deal is about that. My only complaint is the airflow is just very tight compared to my PT 2. My mini-pt's are tighter than the PT2, and this is tightest of them all.

and that's where I am. a little dizzy. oh and NO whistle at all. none, nada, zilch.

Thinkin' hard about a woodvil ;)

Same. It seems the purple heart wood isn't in the minis so I'm kinda eh. Grands are huge but have huge batteries too. I'd never be able to take it out of the house, so that kind of defeats the point in a big battery. And I'm paranoid I'll have the same catch cup overflow issue. So I dunno what to do. Lol

I love the Purple Heart! I initially was interested in a mini, most of my mods are 18350, that said I'm thinkin' of going the middle ground with a 18490, tough decision. I really don't know if it's smart to jump into a woodvil without gettin' the basic operation down first, but sometimes I'm not known for bein' the sharpest tool in the shed ;)

I really doubt there's any 'REO' difference. It's wood instead of metal. Ill probably end up with a mini because of its size. I just love the purple heart :/
