Multiple new coils and no flavour + dry hits

Hi.

I’ve changed my coils now three times, even took it into a shop today and got one of their coils and my Aspire Speeder kit is still hitting really dry and with no flavour. I’ve primed the coils well and let them sit for 20-30 minutes, pulled the liquid up with air holes closed and also started with 80w and tried building up slowly to no success.

Frustrating because I’ve come back from the shop now and it’s still hitting dry as hell and I can think of any different solution unless driving back in and getting them to look at it again. The lady there said the coil that I’d installed looked a bit odd but that was all she could see so I was hoping this replacement coil would do the trick but no.

Any help would be greatly appreciated if it saves me going back into the shop today! Thanks.

What ohms are the coils, and what pg/vg is the juice?

One thing you can check, most coils will give a wattage range, if not on the box look them up. I find those recommendations are generally higher than I go. In fact I don’t vape anything at 70 watts, 50 is about top end for me, so I dial it down to 20-25 watts. Till it won’t even fire, just to warm the coils.

Then I raise it a couple watts at a time, draw gently, and give the wick time to fill between hits. Some people do that for hours, I don’t Prime that long, maybe 20-30 minutes.

Some drop ins, I let sit a few hours to soak. The higher the vg the longer I leave them.

You are vaping too high a wattage, probably. That and start priming WAY low (I start without even hitting the fire button and then slowly raise wattage a few watts, continuing priming). You may be missing your "best" vape by simply starting too high. Recommended resistance is one thing-- the manufacturer's recommendation. You can check your coil, but even when at the Highest end of recommended well, you may find shortened coil life. It's fine to vape BELOW it (and coil life will often be extended) but at max or above it is not going to be good, and your coils won't thank you. You really need to prime low and slow, and see where lower (if anywhere) you can land.

Also, open up the airflow more if you are going to vape high wattage. It MAY help. That and not taking 25 second draws (if you are) and/or chain vaping (if you are) both easy ways to torch a coil.

Best of luck,

Anna

Thanks for all the responses!

I'm vaping on a 0.16 A5 Athos coil which recommends 100-120w. I'd run two of those coils (+ a 0.3 in-between) since buying the kit a couple months back and was staying around 100-110w on the two 0.16 coils and it was hitting fine. I did speak to the people in the shop before leaving the first time today on how to prime perfectly and they said I'd been doing alright, starting at 80w and taking it slowly but maybe you're right about starting even lower.

I went back to the shop again today because I really wasn't getting anywhere and the lady just looked at it for 10 minutes trying different stuff and said she had no idea what the issue was so had to give me a replacement. Was in a terrible mood leading up to it so that really made my day lol! Having let this new one sit now it's hitting fine again so pretty chuffed.

Thanks all again for your help/responses, will save all of them for the next coil change!

what ratio is your ejuice? Seems to me it's not wicking properly because of too much VG. Says on the label. Switch to a 50/50 blend and try again.
