Without going into too much detail, it is a blended preamp design that has seperate EF806 and 6SL7 signal paths each with a unique tone stack and gain control. I plan to mate it to a pair of KT66, KT88, or KT120 for 50, 100 or 150 watt versions as well as a preamp only version. In theory it will be able to be bright & compressed and loose & fat at the same time... and built for hifi frequency response. Thinking big picture, I already bought the domainhttp://www.mythicamps.com/ with the Preamp being called the "Yggdrasil" and the 150 watt version called the "Odin", the 100 watt called "Frigg" and the 50 watt called "Baldr" All 3 will have a preamp out for driving powered speakers
Sounds like the stoner rock guys will be all over that... on name alone. I love the idea of being able to opt for some clean power as well as something with a little more sag.
I like my sound pretty dark and grindy, but it has to have quite a bit of attack and tight articulation as well, or the low and/or fast notes go to mush and just don't cut through. I think if I went to real amps right now, the Randal/Fortin Satan is the only thing that really strikes that balance, and lets you tweak it yourself with the "girth" and "grind" controls. Basically different gain stages for different frequency chunks. Preamp only is a godsend too as guys like me (who live in apartments), who can just chain it to an impulse loader and go. Make sure it has a DI out on it as well.
I got banned a while back. The rule is (in theory), you're not allowed to talk s__ on bands that are members on the forum, and when a member did (unknowingly, it was a pro band who at least one member had an ss.org account), so I called him on it and pointed out his inability to follow the rules of the forum. I got banned. Said member was a moderator.
