Howdy there Black Strat!

I haven't been to this thread in a long time myself. ...just kinda stumbled in here.
Y'all have a very nice show there. Sounds great, cool video and lighting. Do you own all that stuff?
Heckuva show! Do y'all play small venues also?

Hey Hypnophone, digging on your Animals stuff! Yes, we own the visual show elements. We did rent a 33' x 6' projection LED "wall" for some additional stuff in that particular show but it wasn't used on Money. We built a digital "wall" for the wall tunes and grand finale.

We have done smaller scale, early on but it is a quandary for us now. What elements get removed? How much stuff can we cram in? All of the lighting elements, lasers and other effects, videos, etc. have to be programmed for each venue. The smaller the space the more difficult it is for laser and light programming, etc. It feels like we boxed ourselves in quite a bit. We are about ready to get moving again this spring as well, after a looooong nice break!

Welcome, Subject! We have all sorts of musicians in this thread and it keeps on growing. I'm surprised at how many vapers play. It's a good thing, though.

Thank you very much sir. I'm not the least bit surprised. Musicians have been tied to vice since they were recognized! Thankfully our vice is a lot healthier in comparison hehe. Actually funny thing, as a singer who switched to electric cig over analog I noticed a bit of a readjusting period for my throat. For those who like my stle of guitar I've oploaded some more videos (hooray for free promotion!) ^.^

Hey there! The fact that I'm a musician is what has caused me to stop smoking and start vaping. I'm a classical singer, and can sorta-kinda play piano (a skill they forced on me freshman year of college...Painful memories, but definitely a useful skill). I've never been in a band; though I've always entertained the idea of starting up a folk rock band, it's mostly a pipe dream.

I agree with Subject: Musicians have always been men of vice! As well as insomniacs and oddballs. I think creativity is a symptom of madness, or maybe the other way around. In any case, it seems like half the musicians I know smoke too much, the other half drink too much, and rest are guilty of both.

Hey, one of my singers gave up vaping and went back to smoking. He said he's allergic to PG.
The smoker you drink, the player you get...
...and that's just how it is.

Welcome, Wynivern!
Find some like-mined players and go for it! The clock is tickin'! Somebody's lookin' for a vocalist right now in your area.

I got looking at your photo Hypnophone and was reminded of this. I haven't seen the full movie since...I saw it on UHF.

Krupa himself played the drums on the soundtrack for the film, and for the sequences in which Mineo, as Krupa, plays the drums.
Looked like Sal was playing to me. That's some fine dubbing and acting.

Allergic to PG? Couldn't he try an all VG juice, then?

Join a band now? It's Christmas! I'm singing so many Messiahs I'll never get the Halleluja Chorus out of my head, lol.
Nah, actually, I work as a singer and keep pretty busy. Between that and college, I haven't had time for a band since highschool. Besides, I'm a lyric coloratura. Not exactly the most sought-after voice type in garage music. ;)

This is my favorite piece from The Messiah. I really love singing it.

I remember this movie! The first time I saw it, I was just a pup. I've seen it a few times since...
Did you know that Peter Criss took lessons from Gene?

Nice!

Well, I dunno, I think that he didn't like all of the hassle of PV's...

Ya know, you could start a Yes tribute. ...in a garage.
Stay busy!

So ... who got what for Christmas? My big thing this year was a new inkjet all in one printer to replace the Canon printer with the dead printhead. The new Brother inkjet is wireless or network cable or USB and has automatic duplex printing and document handling.

I have too many guitars already, but I would like one of the new Epiphone G400's with coil tap push pull pots for single coil or dual coil sounds. Reviewers say that the single coil sounds are true to the Fender tones of Hendrix and Clapton.

Sounds like a nice printer!
I got a lump of burned post-oak for Christmas.
...and my keyboardist parked a Leslie model 144 next to my B3. mmmmmm, spinny Hammond....
That's good enough for me.

Hey Dave, what do think of these "variaxes" that I'm seeing around these days? Have you played one?
They make good noises, and seem to be very useful in the right hands...

One of my early bands had a keyboardist with a B3 and a 900 Leslie (grey tolex) and a 145 wood cab model. He produced the best sounds I ever heard from an organ outside of synth keyboards. He could do the ELP stuff as well as the Greg Allman style.

The closest I've been to a Variax is on YouTube. They sound great but look like they'd be complicated to play and control. I'm more of a plain Jane Les Paul or Strat player who likes a good tube amp with an overdrive channel. If I can produce Billy Gibbons and Duane Allman licks, along with some of the more popular rock sounds, I'm happy. I'll use a Chorus effect and an echo here and there where appropriate.

I play guitar. I have a black Les Paul, and a Takamine acoustic. I started out learning from my dad, mostly country, Croce, etc. I had a buddy in highschool that played , and he taught me a bunch of great rock songs. Been playing ever since. I mostly just jam with freinds and my brother now.

I had the influences of being in Top 40 cover bands most of my life. That in itself made me learn a wide variety of "just like the record" chord inversions, choppy rhythms, and solo techniques that influenced my overall playing style. I tend to lean toward catchy rock licks, modern blues, and the newer country styles. I think most of the new country guitar styles came out of the disco era when many rock players turned to country music to stay employed. There's a definite change in the style of country guitar during that period that has remained to the present.
