Hey everyone, just stumbled across this thread. I've been playing for around 9 years. My main guitars are an 89' Les Paul Standard and a LSV-03 Larivee. I have a AC30 head through a Orange 2x12 CB cab. I'm a huge gear head as well. I love my pedals... especially delays.... Currently using a Wampler Faux Tape Echo and Wampler Faux Analog Echo.

I recently switched to part time at my day job to pursue producing music more seriously. It was a huge decision but thankfully i have a beautiful wife who is very supportive.

One of the most recent fruits of my labour is a track I wrote called "Ohm's Law" for the VapeRev "What You Got?!" video contest. You can download it for FREE at the link here: bit .ly/17PXLS2

Any of you guys play a G&L? I miss my 94' Legacy that I traded in towards my Les Paul.

I played a Gibson SG through most of the 70s. By the time G&L became popular, I had invested in a '79 50th Anniversary Blonde Strat. I bought it new and played it until somewhere in the mid 90s. At that time, I became a Les Paul player. I did buy a Fender Squire Tele a couple of years ago just because I like the sound, but I can't seem to let go of the Paul.

I played at a party this weekend. Was a lot of fun. the main band was Ray Roper and Fedyk (can't remember his first name but he was the drummer for Paul rogers). They were good. I had someone come see me to check me out for their recording project. He thought I was good and I laughed as my voice cracked a few times singing haha

our regular guitar player was unable to attend and neither of the 2 guys I played with knew any of my songs, so I winged a couple songs...

I got to try out that new drum machine today... Oh ya, they have come a long way. There's even bass in the presets you can jam with and they sound good. we jammed (Paul and I), for a good 5 hrs.

you can tap your foot on the fill/pattern change button before you start and it sets the tempo. you start with one footswitch. the other you can add fills and change the patter as each pattern comes with an a and a b variation. the fills are different depending what time in the bar you initiate it.

so now I have a 4 button pedal for my guitar amp, the midi pedal, the 3 button for the harmonizer and 2 footswitches for the drum machine...... I grabbed on momentary switch and one on/off from roland... the on/off takes 2 clicks sometimes. going to take it back and get a momentary for both. for small live like we are doing this thing does the job. Gitta is going to sing many leads and she will do percussion on the bongos, tambourine and vibraslap

I got to do lead solos woohoo. I rarely get to do lead solos except on mando. We played thick as a brick today and I did flute on the midi guitar.. fun fun.

Months or a year or so back I posted something about the Celestephone that my bandmate played in the '70s.
That was George. We teamed up again in the late '90s with Among the Living.

I/we first moved to Los Angeles in '79 from Monterey CA to become rock stars.
Somehow we got a gig right away doing music for a commercial promoting Continental Trailways buses and then a couple of adds for Chevrolet of Mexico.
One of the producers of the Chev gig was Rita Roberts who had a hit song in the country of Colombia titled "Con Me Jeans"
She liked our sound and asked us to record with her.
We did two songs with her. I played only on one. This ain't it.
I just recently found this. I think I remember George Keller our guitar player doing everything here. The opening is an "Ebow" on his Yamaha acoustic with added mandolin, Celestephone and regular acoustic guitar tracks. The flip-side where I'm playing, a lively tune, is absent from the interwebs... because of my Karma.
This is from 1979, maybe '80. My only boast here is association with George and Jana. We were called AAAHS.
The song is both beautiful and morose.

I sent the link to George and he noticed the obituary dates connected with the video that I had missed... more precisely, refused to translate properly. I took it to mean her life thus far:

Recordando a Rita (1954 - 2012) - Remembering Rita (1954 - 2012)

I'm getting really tired of people dying on me...
The older I get it gets worse. I need this to stop right now.
Enough!

George just now left this message:
I am the guitarist and mandolin player on this recording. I am just now learning of Rita's passing last year. I am greatly saddened by this news. I had the privilege of knowing her and Angel when they were in Los Angeles. They were both intellectually and spiritually inspiring and great fun to be with. Rita had an ethereal quality about her and seemed to be looking beyond the norm, as a true artist does.

Well said, George.

Creme de Menthe is good for the cracking voice. When our band was playing several gigs a week during the Christmas party season it was a singer's drink of choice. Small sips fix the throat quite well ...

The gig last weekend went over pretty good. It is nice to play with pro players. The Blond had only practiced 4 songs with us and the other guitar player and I spent one day rehearsing.... A customer came up to me after the gig and got my info to book me for their wedding.... wifey wants a mandolin at their wedding.... I tell ya, mandolin was the best thing I have ever done. I get so much work now because of that instrument...

I am hosting the house band this weekend, though I will be playing bass and carrying the lead vocals. I am bringing in the guitar player from my old videos and greg who I play with often, plus kelly the drummer in most of the videos of late.

side note, I have been programming that drum machine. I have 7 songs done with bass, drums and percussion. I am so impressed with this unit. now that I have figured it out things are going faster. I screwed up and erased a bunch of user patterns after completing 7 songs, then had to spend last night fixing them. I have already spoken to the club about doing another solo gig.

It was more the stress of running late, being taxi to unknown area, huge traffic and having to drive like an idiot around bigger idiots, then finding the guy told was to play with me, didn't know any of my songs.... so I did the next best thing and drank heinekens when I got there

haha.

Ya gotta be hydrated to sing!

I have a Rick Turner Compass Rose ukulele.
I usually play at the Newport Vapor Room Friday nights around 10pm after a musicians meeting I go to.
We usually play there a few hours on Fridays. If you are ever in the area stop by.

Musicians and vapers ... a recipe for a good jam! I quit playing clubs before the smoking ban. I can imagine the aggravating transition that they went through having to go outside to smoke during breaks. I always stole and ashtray from a table and parked it on my 4x12 amp head.
