AutoDrums? Yeeaahhh.....

I have PC DrummerPro. It can do basic loops or very complicated rhythms with fills, with variable instruments, and more.

If we have a "real" drummer on board, it would be much better.

Southern Rock/Country suits me. My first band was doing country rock before it became cool.

Dual emg-z Love the resonance on the Low B =) been playing the local bar scene here in Nashville for a couple of years some original material (i did not write it) and alot of covers. Folk-Rock singer songerwriter kinda vibe, I mean I am in Nashville, thats pretty common here.

hi everyone,

well i guess i'll start off by saying, i play guitar. i dabble. been in a few bands. mostly punk rock and metal. right now i don't have anything but a small ibanez practice amp and my gibson sonex 180. sold all my equipment when i moved to washington, and now i'm back home to to family related stuff, and starting over. hopefully will have new amp and pedalboard soon.

Hello DaveP and all others. I just came across this thread.

My story is that I played guitar a little when in elementary school. Dropped it for years. I think my mid-life was when I decided it was time to learn to play again at 40. That was 18 years ago. I went through 4 acoustics and 5 electrics. I now have had a Takamine EF350MC and a Gibson Blues Hawk for over 10 years. Back early in high school 1968/69, I was the lead singer in a band doing Hendrix and other current rock tunes.

My motivation to learn to play was fueled when we joined a contemporary church back in 1992. I began sitting in a pew while the band practiced. I had a set of head phones I could plug into the acoustic to hear myself over the band. One day I was asked to come on up. From that point I began playing in the praise band for 5-6 years. It has been a while since I have played and do not pick my guitars up regular enough.

Anyway, great to read this thread. I have a lot of catching up on reading here.

Welcome to the thread 73ckn797! As an older guy, praise band involvement keeps my chops in practice and I don't have to stay out late to do it.

I got GAS this week and ordered an Epiphone G-400 Pro (Gibson SG clone by a Gibson subsidiary). Musicians Friend sent me a "we haven't seen you for a while. Here's a 20% off coupon for anything over $49 to welcome you back!". It's my birthday this week and my wife has been asking me what I wanted. That was it! I played a Gibson SG in the late 70's and traded it on the Strat. I always wished I had it back. At $279 after the 20% off, the Epi G-400 Pro is a good deal. It has Alnico Pro humbuckers with split coils and push pull volume controls to go from HB to single coil individually. It's not a Gibson, but it's close. This will be my third Epi and they are all great guitars.

I grew up mostly playing Kingston Trio and some Peter, Paul and Mary and other related groups. My older brother was into that music and he helped me learn some of those. I can still play those songs and those were some of the first I played when I picked the guitar back up. Of course, who can't play House of the Rising Sun?

Thanks so much for the encouragement, Dave. Yes, I've been practicing my chords -- finally have moved beyond everyone's go-to starter song, "Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore". Though, by choice, I'm sticking with a lot of Pete Seeger and The Weavers, the music I was brought up on. But I am going to stick to my old banged-up Gibson acoustic for a good while longer before plugging in my uncle's, glorious Les Paul (or the vintage Hofner bass I hadn't mentioned) to one of his huge collection of vintage amps. You're right, and I won't continue my decades-long folly of inordinate worship from afar; but I'm really not yet worthy of my uncle's treasures!
Pipeous, I just now read of your "diagnosis". I can see where one might come down with that -- these two mandolins are such beauties to behold! Oh, I'm sorry for babbling, everyone; there really is nothing in the world I'm more passionate about than music. Perpetually in awe of all of you who've mastered your instruments!!

Looking good. I'll lay something down this week. Doing my 13th day straight of work tomorrow. but I'll take my mando and some writing paper and start tossing this together... I have an online storage space I will upload the files to, then whoever wants to add their next piece can jump in. I think it will be left up to the artistic license of each person to add what they want... and just see what comes out. the octave mandolin sounds very 12 string guitar.

nothing fancy... I am no lead guitar player. I like to pluck. Dave you gonna toss the lead on? maybe some electric fills, chunka chunka. I dunno. just want to have some fun. I write music for a real estate company, varies but no vocals. piano/sax soft background crap.

I've always wanted to be involved in an online jam. If you can explain to us how it occurs and how I hook up to get there, I'm in. I suppose we all need some sort of USB interface to get plugged in. Suggestions?

I've been playing guitar for 34 years now and mostly just jammed with friends when I was younger, never was in a touring band or anything, but wish I would have pursued it more when I was younger

well the last time we did an online thing, I recorded some parts and uploaded the wave files to my skydrive. I have 25gb online storage there. I just give access to all involved. you take the file and either use it as a loop or insert it as a track into your external or computer recording program. each person adds their own track.

we can either record and upload all parts individually as single tracks or just add your part and finalize and upload a stereo track back. each person can add what they feel fits. I could get a basic rhythm track with a vocal that we dump in the end if we record seperate tracks and upload. then I can engineer it a bit in the end.

I took my godin mandolin to work and started on the piece. I will try to get some lyrics together. I like so many styles and artists, I dont care about gendre. lets have some fun and just see what happens

I'm game, and if codemonkey wants, we can both submit bass lines. You can choose to use either, or both, if they work out. I would prefer to have the drum track included, so I can get the basic rhythm, but I can also work with just the mando and vocals.
I have Audacity, so I can record over the .wav file and return it.

I'm primarily a bass player, but play lots of instruments... no woodwinds or brass though. Berklee alum, have been playing for 30+ years. Played professionally for a short time about fifteen years ago, but couldn't make it work financially with a young family. Still always have a band or two on the side.

I'll have to find a MIDI based sequencer to replace my Voyetra seq that is no longer supported. I have a Korg D3200 16/32 track (44khz 32 track or 48khz 16 track) digital recorder that I don't use enough to be really proficient, but I would be excited about putting together a file that we can make available on ECF for others to listen to.

Give us a link and some instructions and I'll tackle it and add a track.
