So yesterday I spend over half the day trying to get PG at local pharmacy's. The first guy that I talked to at a Walgreen's was very helpful but did not have any. I am pretty sure that he might of been a vaper, because when he asked me what I needed it for I told him "I need it for a bactericide for my humidifier" he nodded and smiled as if he was thinking "yeah that is a good answer man" He recommended a few places that I might be able to find it. He suggested a CVS next door first, so I went there first. I get there and the pharmacist looks at me like I am trying to make crack when I ask him for it. He turns his back to me and says "no, we don't have that here" Well about an hour later, after several other pharmacy's and no luck, I deiced to look at walmart. Now this was the worst experience out of the bunch. I had for one explain what it was to the pharmacist. She acted like she has never herd of the stuff in her life. I told her anything and everything I knew about PG, that it is used in compounding, Its used in humidifiers, suppositories, fog machines, etc etc. She keeps saying if its fog machine oil its in the Halloween section, humidifier stuff is over there blah blah blah. I finally got fed up just trying to find out if they had any I left. I usually do my shopping online. I now remember why.

I used to use it in my humidors and whenever I went to a pharmacy they had to order it, and I never had a problem getting it. That was a few years ago and maybe things have changed. Probably just have to find the right pharmasist and get them to order it.

The only retail place that it seems to be just carried as a matter of course is Tractor Supply Company stores, and even then not all of them have it (about $20 for a gallon of PG USP if they have it -- it is used to treat a cattle skin condition). I'm still running off 700ml that I picked up from freedomsmokeUSA last November.

Some pharmacies will order it if you ask, but online is simpler. The fsUSA PG ran me about $1/ounce including shipping.

VG is simpler to find, common at CVS, Rite Aid, some supermarket pharmacy sections. It's carried near the bandaids and isopropyl alcohol, will be a squat, clear, 6 ounce bottle labeled Glycerin USP Skin Protectant. The only ingredient is Glycerin USP 99.5%, possibly followed by "(anhydrous)". I use Rite Aid all the time for it, their store-branded Glycerin is $5 IIRC. CVS and Rite Aid are Humco relabels, so they are VG. Tell a clerk you are looking for Glyceerin USP skin protectant, you shouldn't get any strange looks.

I didnt even know you could get menthol crystals from the pharmacist! I am sure I would get shady looks if I even asked for them... With my beard and I tend to dress in rock concert tee's, I am sure people think that I am up to no good.

My cover story was for adding to a nightime vaporiser. Was no problem.

Nunnster, I had the same problem when I went to pharmacies looking for VG. One pharmacist said, oh yeah I know where that's at. He led me to an aisle and grabbed..........a jar of suppositories!!!!

I'm a nurse currently working geriatrics and just last week had a patient introduce me to her son by saying "this is the young man that gave me the suppository and helped me poop" Talk about an awkward introduction....

Menthol crystals are great for tweaking things, but I'm lazy, just buy the pre-mixed menthol liquid concentrate for my own stuff, where I want to be able to replicate the mix. I use voidmist, their alcohol based version, $1.80 for 7 ml, I only use about 1 ml per 30.

I have tried many menthol concentrates (all weak) and I can make 1 liter for about 50 bucks, that is .05 cents a ml or .35 for 7ml. I use it at 3% and it make the perfect menthol tobacco consistantly every time. Your way the same amount (1 liter) is $257.00
I only use menthol for making menthol tobacco, I personally do not like menthol but I have peoples that do :)

This only takes me about 5 miutes of work, and 30 minutes of waiting. I am lazy too hehehe but I likes my money more hehehee
