My Boba's clone

Back in 12/2009, Dawn was making a B&M flavor for her customer (Joe) and when Joe posted a review about how awesome it was, Ben praised Dawn for nailing it and that he was also trying to make one for his customer. Dawn pretty much helped him refine his DIY skills.....I read this on another forum.

If I were in USA I'd be getting all my flavors from Dawn. Anybody committed to boba's would be crazy to shop anywhere else.

On a (sort of) different note, the (unofficial) forwarding agent who supplies many Australians with products from alien Visions and other leading US juice suppliers is out of business for 2 months or so. My missing package along with 4 others disappeared mysteriously on 3 July or shortly after. Customs in his country also seized his imported liquids at about the same time. So he's relocating. That's bad news for people like ColinD and myself. Anybody out there who would like to set up as a forwarding agent to Australia would be doing a great service and could make a decent profit too. Anybody interested can PM me if you don't want to talk about it in open forum.

ok call me crazy if you like.... but that mix I made for giggles.... um... someone else needs to try it.

What I did was took my premade buffalobacco mix (minus the EM or vinegar noted in the recipe) here:

This is made with seedmans as as well but Im thinking less seedmans, or maybe none at all and just simply scubabatdans TA recipe alone and tpa dk/555 would be better. I havent tried that yet tho.

I siphoned off 6ml and added three drops vz black and mild and two drops tpa cinnamon danish. Now Ive long run out of bobas to compare to cause its been so long since I tried making a clone on my own.... but I swear... If you have the ingredients you gotta try this.

Edit.... The flavor profile, to what I recall of bobas, is correct with these ingredients, TA, TPA DK/555, TPA Cinn Danish, and Black and mild. Percentages and amounts of each need tweaking, but the profile imo is correct.

Does anyone get any orange zest in BB?

Sort of, when I tasted a drop, it reminded me of something sweet like a tangy mango-orange.

I found someone's inspired recipe of BB and GJ for your entertainment:

I had to ponder long and hard to share these. 2 Closely guarded recipes, handed down through generations in my family. But hey I guess Aussievapers are almost family now? Both are around 15mg nic content. They are inspired by the popular Alien Vision Juices (Boba's Bounty and Gorrilla Juice). Be carefull you will never be able to go back to other juices, or so their fanboys say. If the flavors are a bit strong add some more VG & or No flav Nic . Be careful with the cinnamon and green apple they can overpower so start small and add . They are like fine wines, which if you dont tell people whats in them, they ponder and debate the flavors and undertones until they are well drunk, and finish the bottle of vodka you place in front of them.............Ok I am a bit hung over and amusing my self lol, but give them a go, i actually do really like them.

*****update - i think the booze has finally left my system from last night...ouch....last night i thought i hit the ejuice jackpot......as we were all finishing of the 3rd bottle of vodka, this afternoon they are still good but a little sweet for me.**************

40% 36mg Flue Cured Tobacco (pg base)
25% 0 Nic Chocolate Juice (pg base)
5% Green Apple Flavor concentrate
5% Rum Flavor concentrate
25% VG

2. Monkey Juice

Very very interesting....My 555 has a strong floral note but I bet the B&M will balance that out. Off to the mad scientist lab.

Well Ive never been more certain. Im calling the bobas clone hunt over.... for me anyways. Im gonna try a few tweaks but what I have haphazardly thrown together is as close as Ive gotten. It is an ACCURATE representation of Bobas Bounty, and I know how hard that is to say. Im not doing so lightly especially because for a long time I swore off black and mild flavoring being used. I still feel that diyfs B&M is likely the better fit but all I am concerned with is flavors.

Ill let you all have at it tho. Instructions above.

Buffaloguy- Gonna need your help. To make the "Dan's Mix" which is 1 part TA and 2 parts SC, can I just make a very small sample like 10 drops of TA and then 20 drops of SC into a bottle?

So is this what it would look like once I add in the BM and CD to the full version in 6ml mix. I use the ejuice Me Up app.

BM 2.5%
CD 2%
SC 8%
DK/555 4%
2 drops of "Dan's Mix" per 5ml

All the testing with versions on black and mile type flavorings is the issue. Using that will never replicate an actual clone of bobas. The flavor profile of it just isnt correct. It certainly is good to vape and mix with though. Could you come close using that flavoring to make a clone of Bobas, mabye. I doubt it though.

Ive said it before. If the flavoring did not exist in 2009 then it isnt in Bobas.

Is Ben a genius? No, hardly. He got lucky. Does he have a couple decent juices? Sure but so does alot of mixers. But like all of us he had to use what was available at the time.

Dans mix is 1 part of the old TPA TA mix which is TA, alc or PG, and EM. You need to mix that first if you dont have any handy. Its scubatdans TA recipe. Then you take that and add two parts seedmans to it. But yes, 10 drops to 20 drops is accurate.

Flex, that looks good. I think the percentages of them may need tweaking. I was more concerend with just seeing if the flavors were represented right. I think they are, mostly. I literally took the bacco mix I already had made and just added drops to it. I could recreate the math but I havent had time to sit and do that yet lol.

Personally I think the mix I threw together last night would be fine minus the seedmans in general but it doesnt seem to hurt it at all. Yet if its off and not close enough to bobas then Im suspecting seedmans would be the first Id eliminate.

Its very possible ben uses just bulgarian tobacco TA in straight vg with little to no EM added for bobas. Its very difficult to get EM to diffuse in 100%VG. It can be done, I do it from time to time. However its a huge pain in the rear. Any undissolved EM crystals have to be strained. I can tolerate some PG so when I make the old TPA TA I just do it in PG with EM by the known method to make it easier.

EM in VG really isn't worth trying. I have it mixed, and it's a tiny fraction of the amount of crystals used in PG to reach saturation, and isn't very sweet at all.

I didnt know diyfs had a B&M flavoring back then. Even while looking thru waybackmachine stuff I never saw it. So I just wrote it off. It wasnt logical. The new info on it tho started me thinking. New perspective always helps.

I dont ever mind being wrong if Im learning in the process.

And I totally agree on the EM in VG. Its really not worth it. I only do it for one juice so Im glad I dont do it often.

Oh, point of note. I did steep it for 4 hours at 150° last night before I vaped it today. Im vaping it now at 1.9 ohms and 9.5 watts in a vivi nova of all things. All my rba's were full. But its a good thing I did vape actual bobas in a vivi nova before. Silica can change things.

I know right...I was smelling some flavors to compare with BB and TPA Brown Sugar Extra grabbed my attention. I went back and forth smelling BB with Honey and Brown Sugar. It has more of a Brown Sugar smell IMO.

Btw, I hope my nose isn't playing tricks with me...after smelling at the same time the Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Danish then smelling BB, I can definitely detect them in BB but less Cinnamon more Brown Sugar.....how they vape together might be a different story. =D

...Also the tangy smell in BB is close to the smell of TA.

Well, it's like I mentioned earlier, it's the same flavorings over and over again. I've been through dozens of combinations of VZ B&M, EM, TA Blend, Cinnamon Danish, Coconut, Graham Cracker, etc. since this thread started. Still can't get it close enough.

Next order will include the TFA Mild Black, TFA Black Honey Tobacco, and TFA Honey. Maybe those will get me somewhere, assuming the Mild Black is any different than the VZ version. Hopefully someone can compare all these B&M types, but I'm testing too slow to get to the diyfs one any time soon.

I know Dawn used to sell a (cinnamon roll) flavor, which I have , and its seems to have a real good balance to it. The cinnamon is not overpowering in it at all. I wonder if it would be useful in your mix Buffalo. I too think the key to bobas is in Dawns website. If you can navigate it...lol.

I just made me a batch, gave it a hot bath, good shake, and been vaping it. I like it even without nic.

Out of the different clones, this one is my favorite. I really didn't like coconut notes in the other recipes, so this works for me.

Here's the mix:

BM 3%
555 2%
TA 1%
CD 1%
Brown Sugar Extra 1%

I thinking about adding some almond and cherry on the next go. Maybe up the brown sugar to 2%.

Update: I added Lorann Almond and Cherry, as well as 2% Brown Sugar Extra....I think I stumbled upon a potential clone for another well known ejuice called Deadly Sin by GoodLifeVapor.

Can someone consolidate where we are at with recipe #7 and and all of the tweaks. Please post the flavors and exact percentages with the full names, not the acronyms and the best places to acquire the flavors.

If someone could cut and paste the below recipe then in BOLD add the substitutes and vendors to acquire the substitutes and recipe percentages that would be so helpful for people to order what they want and need.

I would really appreciate it if anyone wants to take the time to do this.

Im hoping someone will make it exactly the way I did. I really think by adding anything else you might throw it off by alot. I really believe its spot on the way I had it flavoring wise. As I said the only thing I might try different is eliminating the extra seedmans added in the buffalobacco part I used.
