My Boba's clone

I made SloHand's #7 a few days ago. My nic was in a base of 100% VG and I used unflavored VG to finish the total volume. The only PG came from the flavorings. According to my e-juice calculator, the final mix is approximately 85.5% VG.

It's not similar to Boba's from what I remember, but it's been well over a year since I've tried Boba's, so I mistrust my taste buds and memory equally.

I also detect more of the Cinnamon Danish Swirl than I thought I would when combined with the other flavorings involved. I'm wondering if these notes will fade a bit more into the background after steeping for a couple of weeks or more.

I'm tempted to get my hands on some Acetyl Pyrazine to add to the mix, just for curiosity's sake.

Fun experiment! I'm going to share a few bottles with friends and get their feedback.

I was thinking of getting the AP as well. Did you use the Black Mile Plus or a substitute?

Some people think it's better. I haven't tried this one yet but I will eventually.

Ah bummer... yeah my ecigexpress Black and Mile shipped but that's it.. I actually placed a second order with WizardLabs today and sent them an email hoping to merge my 2 orders and maybe get a refund for one of the shipping costs before they send it out... I hope so! Every little bit counts!

I had to make another order right after placing one... I gave them a call and they said when I place my next order to choose the "pick up at store" option and in the comments section write your previous order number explaining that you would like it shipped with your first order. Give them a call they pick up right away

My experiences with Boba's were not typical. Part of the time I really enjoyed it, but most of the time I couldn't pick up on much of the flavor. It had everything to do with my taste buds and not the juice itself, I'm sure. I'd say give #7 a shot. It's not a bad vape at all. It's pretty good, actually. I'm just not digging the cinnamon notes, but I'm a believer in steeping, so no final judgement from me. Yet.

All my stuff should arrive by the weekend. I'm sure I'll make some blunders getting going but I'm hopeful for the long run.

I haven't been able to try BB yet but AVE is hard at work getting back up again. Regardless, I'll be happy is I make something I like, whether it replicates BB or not. Sure, Id like to mimic BB since it sounds like the holy grail of juices. However, as long as it turns out tasty I'll be pretty happy.

Thanks to you posters who are supporting this with your efforts and info. If it weren't for you all, I probably wouldn't have even considering doing this, much less had some starting recipes. Wish me luck. I'll certainly share my findings with you.

The demand at wizard is thru the roof lately. They always post on the front page of the site regarding handling delays. If you have nic in your order it seems they are really backlogged and have been for some time. Recent note says they just doubled the space... after just moving into it recently... and are hiring more ppl.

Good ppl there. They deserve their success. Give em time.

Ecx I will no longer do business with. Last month my cc # was stolen after buying from them. Suspiciously, they were never hacked but updated all their security days later... hmm... ok. The owner banned me from the ecx forum for questioning him about it and asking for proof of their security "audit" by a "security firm" (of which they could never afford to begin with). Oh well ECX can keep their watered down "concentrates". Sorry, venting... grrrrr...

I can't figure out whats up with Alien Visions. They were down for almost two months to try to fix their security issues and build a new website(I got caught up in the CC fraud mess myself). They reopened on Monday, and had all kinds of problems. I was one of the first to actually get on the site when they opened and they were out of Boba's and Gorilla Juice already! Like ...W.T.F.??? REALLY???

I was able to get an order in for 100 ml of PG HYPE, but they shut down again in less than two hours. They charged my CC, sent me a confirmation email, but that's the last I heard from them... On their FB site they said they will most likely be closed for another few days to a couple of weeks now because they had to move everything to a "dedicated server".... W.T.F... # 2!

I'm a long-time supporter of Ben & AV, and they have some of the best juices on the planet, hands-down, but to be honest with you, I'm just about done with them. You would think that after over two months being off-line they would have built up a stockpile of product and done some minimal testing of capabilities of their new website! I've run a small business or two myself, and the only thing I can say is: this is not the way to do it.... Just because you have a great product, does not mean you will survive...history is littered with examples of that fact. If Ben doesn't get serious about the business side of Alien Visions pretty quickly, they will just be a memory.

Anyway...I've got about 15ml of real Boba's left to compare with, but some of these DIYs are getting so close now, that this may be the last I ever buy.

Yeah.. AVE went online on Monday.. for about 10 minutes - there were errors and they sold out of Bobas and Gorilla insanely fast. They posted an update on their Facebook saying they are now getting dedicated servers and "have no timeline for when they'll be open again"
Personally I think it's ridiculous.. they could've been making juice while they were closed - they know the demand is there... Maybe I'm just sour because I've been getting Bobas for 2 years and have spent a lot of money at their site and now I can't even get any at all...
Very excited to get all my supplies to try and make this clone, though! It doesn't even have to be an exact copy.. I just haven't found another juice on the market that I like too much.. everything seems to taste like perfume to me.. I think it's the PG but I'm not sure.. the taste isn't there with Velvet Cloud juices which are 100% VG and distilled water (those are good juices, but still not what I'm looking for..)

On a side note.. does anyone know if some people taste perfume with PG? My girlfriend and I both do.. but I'm not 100% sure it's just PG

It's not a matter of PG or VG, it depends a lot on the flavorings used by the vendor. Most "perfumy" notes will generally go away as the juice steeps. Most juice you buy online is mixed to order, so they need a little time to de-gas & settle down. A quick tip is to take the tops off of new bottles & let them sit in a cabinet for 24-48 hours, or run them through an ultrasonic cleaner for about a half-hour to an hour (again, with the tops off), or just wait for a week or two...some take longer than others, but the perfume does go away....

IF you get more into DIY, an Ultrasonic cleaner is a great time-saver...it can cut your steep time AL LEAST in half. You don't need anything fancy - just a cheap ultra sonic jewelry cleaner works OK, but if you are going to get serious, get a heated version... heat + the sonic bath makes DIY an entirely different experience. Most juices take so long to develop until you find out if a recipe "works" , that steep-time is the biggest hurdle to get over....especially with tobacco juices like Bobas . A heated Sonic cleaner cuts a three-to four week steep time down to a less than a week if you zap it for a hour or so a day.

And also, that's the thing, I have let all those juices steep for days with the caps off! I don't understand it... it's every juice I've tried with PG... VG juices taste fine, though.. I already placed an order with WL, I wish I had ordered a small bottle of PG nicotine just to try it by itself to see. Very strange, though... like BWB RY4 for example... everyone seems to love it but all I taste is perfume, no matter how long it steeped.
It bums me out! I wish I liked more juices.. I'm crossing my fingers with all these DIY flavors I ordered.. hopefully I can eventually make something I love
