YOU can NOT fix DUMB !
There will always be people like this, and no matter how well a product is made - DUMB - will find a way to defeat it.
just to clarify what I said here, it's not about the person, just in the situation where a dumb move was made.

.......and now I'm peering at my Trustfire Multi-Functional Charger........:glare:

Not to Worry. They only get Cranky if you Show Weakness.

Holding a Ball Peen Hammer in one hand is a Good Way to show Any Electrical device that You Mean Business.

You take a Problem Charger out into the Back Yard and Smashie Smashie it, and All your Other Electrical devices will Quickly Step Back Into Line.

If I buy a new Dell Laptop or AT&T Smart Phone and the Battery melts down, it is going to be Replaced without Question. It is going to be Replaced because the OEM doesn't want their product name Tarnished. And there is Always the threat of Lawsuit. Can the Same be Said about All e-Cigarette Hardware?

OEM's require a High Level of Quality Control from there Component Suppliers. And OEM's have the Ability to perform All Manors of in house Testing to Ensure that the Product they put there name on meets a High Level of Performance and Quality.

But I don't see that much in the e-Cigarette Market.

IMO this is a significant point zoiDman. I do think it has more to do with large companies compared to small ones rather than just OEM's. Not all OEM's have those resources.

Personally, I prefer justice by Federal (or Remington). Usually in the 12 gauge variety. :D

I hear you.

I had an Old Coleman Lantern that had a Habit of Working Great at Home but Not when I went Camping. The last time I went on a trip, 2 went out but Only 1 came Back.

I won't go into All the Details. But I can say that an 870 Short Barrel was Involved.

I hear ya and I agree. OTOH, every accident is caused by a mistake someone made and typically it's from multiple mistakes adding up to what happened. It could be bad product design, a battery with bad chemistry or an internal mechanical fault, or a user doing something they should not have done. Any of these things are ultimately the result of someone's mistake. And all these mistakes look really stupid after they have been made (but yes, some are worse than others ).

Also, most issues can be designed out. Leave a battery charging in a hot car? Put a temperature sensor in the charger that shuts it down at a set temperature. Use the wrong charger on a eGo type battery (or any battery)? Design things so the wrong battery can not be attached to the charger, or have the charger check if the battery is OK. Stack batts in a mod? Design the mod so it does not physically accept stacked batts.

Unfortunately what it will probably take to push the industry to do more due diligence are a few lost law suits, or government regulation.

thank you for sharing as a noob who just ordered a mech kit it's good to be reminded that high power battery's/chargers can be dangerous and not leave them alone or be careless about where you use them. I don't love china QC but issues can arise from any manufacture when dealing with these(seams to me)

Battery cases are one of the cheapest things you can get in the vaping world, a (2) battery case for 18350s runs around 50 cents and the same for 18650s is about a buck and a half. since you are getting mechs, invest in a couple of fuses, they can be had for as little as $2.25 for the kamry and are worth the face-protection as well as the peace of mind.

I'd also like to say that it may not be all that smart to charge your battery on your stove top if you have a gas stove.

I'd also like to say taht EVERYONE should have more than ONE fire extinguisher. I know from first hand experience. I burned my house down making tea in 1994. I have NEVER seen anything move as fast as that fire. EVER. the fire extinguisher the land lord provided did not work.

I may be wrong, its been a while. But I believe your average fire extinguisher won't put out a li battery.

Yeah... That maybe True.

But it can do Wonders on Drapes or that Pile of Papers on your Desk that your Charger was on.

besides a proper extinguisher is still much cheaper than everything you own as some one who lost everything in a fire as a kid.

Yeah, I almost didn't post this for just that reason, but the message about charging on the stove top is very important to me. The last thing this community needs is one isolated incident creating a big to-do about the safety of e-cigs. Just be smart about Chinese quality and Li-ion batteries in general, I guess. That's what I'm sayin'.
Yes but you brought it here to people trying to educate themselves and others. Thank you, doing so may bring up reoccurring issues and we find out which products are just built wrong or worthless QC vs a rare QC issue or or improper use. Hopefully get rid of the former and educate so the latter is rare.

I actually read every word in this thread which is VERY rare for me. What an eye opener! Yep. I am (or was) ignorant. I recently became irritated at my local vendors because they have limited hardware. Now I am ...... that they tell didn't me about this! Here you go, great unit, use this charger, you owe me X$, bye bye now. Grrrrrrr.

Been charging on MY DESKTOP, NEXT TO THE COMPUTER! Grrrrrr.

Never a mention of any of this! Grrrrrrr.

At least my batteries are IMR. But a Trustfire. Building a mini-bunker TODAY! Then replacing that bleeping charger! Grrrrrr.

Oh, thanks to all. :)
