My Christmas wish for a new 14500 mod. What say all of you?

I'm not saying i won't ever make one, but if i do, it'll be awhile as i have a few projects that would come ahead of that. But, I'm just curious what the attraction is to the 14500 vs 16340 is? The AW 16340 and AW 14500 are rated at the same mAh. The Precise 16340 is actually 16 mm shorter than a 14500 Precise would be. The Precise 16340 is actually thinner too, than a couple of 14500 mods i have. Just picking your brains on the subject...

I agree with Vaporologist. I love the looks of my P10. I figured if you made the P14 it would basically be an eGo-ish sized device, which suits me as far as sizes ar concerned. The main reason for me is that I have a stack of 14500 batts. I picked up a P10 only because I have a couple dozen 10440s. I have a multi charger which handles all my current batteries and it would also handle the P16 batts without a hitch. I'm just not so hot on buying a bunch of new batteries if I don't have to.

Well, going by the dimensions of the three P-series PVs on your website and what you said in your post;

Dimensions:

Precise 10440: 12mm x 83mm or .47" x 3.27"
Precise 16340: 18.5mm x 74mm or .73" x 2.91"
Precise 18650: 20mm x 104mm

A P14 should look something like this;

Precise 14500: ~16mm x ~90mm or .63" x 3.5"

Main attraction for me is that a P14 would be an acceptable amount larger in dia. than the P10 and smaller in dia. than a P16. The length is acceptable at ~90mm as well. It fits right in with the length of my V4L XL batts I am using now. Actually I would prefer it a little longer than a P16 or P10. A P16 is a little short in my opinion. And a P14's battery life would be great.

All in all a potential P14 fits my needs better than a P16. Vaporologist is correct in his post. A little thinner, longer, and closer to the P10 is what I'm looking for. That being said, if there were a much better battery made for the P10, I would already own one, and probably wouldn't even be in this discussion.

As I've said in previous posts the PS Icon is a VERY tempting product. There have been a few good deals on used ones in the classifieds and one locally here that I have passed on. Why? Because it is not a Precise (P14). I feel a Super T P14 would be a better product plain and simple!

I can't say that I wouldn't grab an Icon if a crazy good deal fell in my lap though just to try it out..... I could always sell it later....

And thats my 2 cents!

I think the main attraction to the concept of the P14 starts with the attraction to the P10. The P14 would be the closest thing to the P10 in the aesthetics department while offering the performance of the P16... But most people don't realize how little the P16 actually is.

+1 Here are a few shots of the closest comparable mods in the 14500 form next to the P16 for size comparison. The Precious in the second shot is the M size (14500) model.

As you can see the P16 isn't that much larger in diameter than a 14500 device.

That's a great lineup of PV's on the desk. I started this thread, and checking back on it I am happy to see so much discussion, 26 posts so far.

In answer to David's question about the difference between 16340 and 14500 batteries. I have both sizes in AW LIMN's at the moment, of around the same age. The 14500 is rated at only 50 mah more than the 16340. Yet, the bigger battery seems to provide a little more kick and slightly more duration. However, I was using 510's on the P 16 and 801's on the Super Six, both in LR, at the time. So, it's going to be different.

Here, I must also bring up the issue of air draw. The Super Six will always set the benchmark for me, because its adjustable air draw is unmatched, when not flooded. So, that is why I believe that a potential 14500 mod would be a great place to incorporate some sort of adjustable draw, a top switch, and perhaps even venting as standard. That top switch would shorten the unit, making up a bit for the longer battery.

I agree, and I don't have any Precise in my hands yet! I have lots of 10440 (good ones) on hand, 14500's and the list goes on an on. The ONLY battery that I don't have is the 16340!

I'll probably own at least one of each that David has now and the future! Seems the first one is the hardest to get delivered by the PO!
