I just found out earlier this week while going through an Employee handbook that as of Jan 1st 2012, they have banned E-cigs in the building. I wasn't upset- just shocked. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one at this location that has an electronic cig, but I wonder if it was an issue in our other areas.

The rest of the hand book has not changed. All they did was add that area of "NO ELECTRONIC devices TO BE SMOKED IN THE COMPANY BUILDING."

They didn't give any meetings or any memos about this change; I found it while looking for the punch-time policy.

I'm sure this has happened to some of you who work in corporate offices.

Interesting, but their failure to define it properly could be their undoing should one press the issue. Electronic devices can't be SMOKED unless you set it on fire, and who would want to do that? They should have worded it better. *shrug*

Yeah, I could fight it... But I wouldn't get very far.

It's definitely worth asking a question about! Perhaps those in charge are simply uninformed!

I could only see them really having an issue if people were trying to use them on the clock instead of working! (I don't actually know what your job is/what the company you work for does... so it's just speculation).

Asking a question couldn't possibly get you in any trouble, nor could a little education case them to be in any sort of negative position. I'd speak with a supervisor about it! Maybe in the process of spreading your adventitious views you can convert a few non believers!

Thats a shame.
I am actually having the opposite happen at work. The President of my company saw me with mine and started researching the heck out of it after he saw I hadn't had an analog and is now encouraging everyone to start vaping instead of smoking and telling us all we are permitted to vape at our desks if we want.

Everyone needs to get the word out. At the same time, we have to be careful about how we act when we do that.

I am new to this. Before I read up on vaping, I don't know how I would have reacted to this whole thing. I didn't even know what e cigs were until a month ago. Now, as of yesterday when my kit finally arrived, I am totally thrilled with this whole thing. If you talk to people in public like you do to the noobies here in this forum there is a great future in vaping. There are so many wonderful people here.
