while it would be nice for cigarettes to magically vanish, i dont believe that banning a product effectively removes it from society. in fact, i believe it creates MORE of a desire to use the substance. it also creates a black market, illegal substance kingpins, violence, the list goes on andmost if not all of it degrades society rather than improving it.

the answer is education. you dont just take somehting away from someone. you educate them as to WHY they should not even want to use a particual product or substance in the first place.

*please do not take this as an attack. it is just my opinion*

A day will come when smoking will be banned out in the country.
No smoking within 1 mile from the nearest Cow.

What I've always found amusing is that everyone on the planet
except for smokers and tobacco companies want smoking banned
but the sale of tobacco will never ever be banned
:p

No offense taken
Was just poking fun at the human nature thing about banning every thing
Banning is just the Nanny State's way of dealing with issues.
It takes effort to educate and allow personal choices.

I'm not saying to act like you can blow out clouds of vaper everywhere and anywhere, because that might do more harm than good.
But I am saying that silent consent to be pushed around and treated unfairly will only lead to more of the same.

Personally, I believe that everyone around me should THANK me for purifying their air for them.
But while I truly believe that, I try not to act like it is my right to purify their air for them.
:)

That's only true the last 30 years of so. Prior to that, everyone that smoked smoked almost everywhere. At their desks/cubes; in doctor's office waiting rooms; in public lunch rooms/restaurants; balconly of movie theatres.

Quite frankly, I feel some degree of guilt having subjected my wife of 43 years to the rank stench of living with a smoker. While you're smoking, your senses of smell and taste are nearly dead, particularly to smoking oders.

The only way it will ever be acceptable almost everywhere again is if the vapers do it almost everywhere. I have reservations. . .I don't know if it's affecting my or anybody elses health. I know I feel better than when I smoked tobacco, but. . .we're all just being willing Lab Rats at this point. JMHO

Cheers,
otrpu

Agreed!

I believe we PV users should be able to smoke anywhere.

Not to antagonize anyone, just to break the chains of being labelled(and treated) as a smoker.

I am not smoking, I am vaping.

Smell my shirt, does it stink like an ashtray??? No..it does not!

Do I need a lighter?!?! Bahhh to that primative technology!

Does this thing I am holding look like a cigarette to you?? Nope, why would the end of a cigarette glow blue!!!

Is that smoke you are puffi---NO it's Water vapor!

We shouldn't allow ourselves to be lassoed in with the cigarette smokers, or we could very well enjoy some of the laws that they have to endure:

--No smoking in a public park
--No smoking in your car with a child present
--No smoking anywhere in the vicinity of a school
--No smoking anywhere in the vicinity of a hospital
--No smoking anywhere in the vicinity of a government facility
--No smoking anywhere on the grounds of any government run housing
--No smoking in your own home if it is government run housing

I am not saying we should flaunt it(we can be respectful in public), but we should not have to be closet vapers as well.

Dob: its really not so much striving to vape in public, its enjoying our vapes in places we like to relax. I enjoy coffee shops.

So my way of thinking is " aww, i can grab my kindle, get a double expresso and vape (used to be smoke) while i relax..."

My way is not thinking "hehheh... where can I get a rise out of people, its my right and i just wanna bust some chops"

I would not try to vape at a preschool but i do enjoy a vape after i preach a sermon.. ( analogs did not go well with the flock..LOL

Blessings folks
Brother Frankie

I hope this comes off as un-rude as possible.. But I really don't get people that strive to vap in public places? I mean, as smokers we weren't able to smoke everywhere we wanted. And 99% of us just took it for granted. I know vaping isn't really harmful to those around us, but it still confuses people because the general public really has no idea what an e-cig is. For that fact, I only really vap were I can smoke. Or I'll take a quick puff and hold it in if I'm at a concert, ballpark, public restroom, etc. I would feel just odd puffing away while reading at Barnes N Noble. And would expect someone to eventually get in my face about it, lol

I could see a bookstore banning it. Too much risk in airborne residue landing on the books.

There are no studies that I know of that look at this side of vaping. PG and VG are a little slick in liquid form, which is the form they would return to at room temperature.

There is NO residue from PV's, as far as I can tell. I am a painting contractor, and I always called the stains on the walls from cig smoking: Nicotine Stains. Not anymore, I now call them tar stains. You can exhale PV Vapor through a white cloth hundreds of times, and it will not leave any residue.....Try It....

I now vape all the time in my work truck, with the windows closed. When I smoked, with the windows open, it would only take a couple of months before my windshield got slimed out from cig residue. Now I've been vaping for at lease the last year and a half, and because it is my work truck I hardly ever clean the back of the windshield. Its been almost a year since I cleaned the inside of the WS, and there is NO residue.

I made a thread a long time back about vaping around your kids. A couple people said they used to chain vap around their kids and their kids would complain about headaches so they quit it. I think even though the vapers not "harmful', that it still carries a small amount of nicotine with it. I can't prove that, but just for the sake of my kids, or other peoples kids, I don't vap around them in confined areas.
