3. It kind of freaks me out that people buy liquids from non-regulated companies and individuals (other hobbyist) and then vaporize and inhale that liquid. You are literally buying drugs off the street and then consuming them in the most intimate way possible. You are risking your ability to breath and your general health to complete strangers out to make a buck. It sounds pretty dangerous. Doesn’t this bother you at all?

Any replies are appreciated

Have you ever eaten at a restaraunt? Yeah, sure, the health inspector rolls through every so often and grades them. The health inspector ain't there every day. I worked in kitchens most of my adult life and have seen stuff that would make your skin crawl.

Have you ever eaten food purchased at a church or school bake sale? No different than purchasing juice from an unknown unregulated vendor.

Have you ever eaten at a friends house? Are you sure they took all the necessary precautions with that chicken they just threw on the grill? Did they use a separate cutting board to cut up the vegatables for the salad or did they use the same one they cut up the chicken on? Salmonela is a ...... They did at least clean and sanitize that cutting board with soap and then a bleach and water solution, didn't they?

I would think you breath more water in the rain, in muggy weather, in the shower. I smoked for decades. I started vaping instead and my sinuses cleared up, my taste buds woke up, and I am breathing better. My complexion looks healthier.

I am also lowering my nicotine dependence. I had done that with cigarettes (was down to ultralights) but the cig comapnies charge a premium price for the lowest nicotine cigarettes (mine got to $64/carton) and I could no longer afford them so instead I had to switch to $42/carton lights with twice the nicotine. With ecigs it's as easy as buying a lower nicotine level of juice. It never costs more to have less nicotine and you can even go to 0 nicotine.

Is vaping physically healthier than total cessation? No. Is it better than smoking the products of combustion, tar, and thousands of chemicals including toxins and known carcinogens? I think so.

there are actual health benefits to nicotine. it's even been discussed on Dr Oz show and The Doctors etc........i have no plans on quitting vaping. the only reason i have NOT gained weight, and have actually LOST weight, for the first time in all my smoking cessation attempts, is because i continue to enjoy the hand to mouth action and i also still get the nicotine in my bloodstream to keep my BMR (basal metabolic rate) at the same level as i was when smoking

From all the great posts on this thread anyone can see vaping is helping so many people no one has had a bad thing to say against it. Now I know people are driven to find a forum like this because they have an awareness of the existence of the electronic cigarette or are using one. Im sure someone would have chimed in and said it was a bad thing by now if they thought it was. This thread says to me GO VAPE GO VAPE GO VAPE GO VAPE and so it should. I VAPE I am in controll of what I vape because I use the chemicals I got from the people I trusted to supply them not some tobacco company with profit in mind. I feel SAFER in the knowlege that I am more in command of what my body is polluted with. PG+VG+nicotine=better than tobacco+4000+addits. Would you rather play Russian roulette with 4000 bullets or 3. RANT OVER................

I am no health care professional as others who have responded, but I can vouch for things they've said: I do become more thirsty (dehydrated) when vaping, so I drink more water -which is of course, recommended by health professionals anyway. I smoked for 28 years and had gotten to the point of hacking and choking when I lay down in bed due to phlem - within 2 days of starting to vape instead of smoking, I could lay down and stay there without getting up just so I could breath. I couldn't enjoy a deep laugh without coughing and choking - I quit analogs and began vaping 30 days ago and realized 2 weeks ago that I could enjoy a great joke (and Lord knows I work with some comedians) without a serious bout of coughing. My husband informed me I would wake him during the night with my wheezing - he's now slept through the night for the last 3 weeks. He's also informed me that my color is better - not pasty and jaundiced looking. I teach which means every bug known to man swirls around my classroom and school building - for the first year in 7 (2nd career) I didn't get sick at the beginning of January and stay sick through May - and so far, no bronchitis which has been a yearly occurrance since I started smoking years ago. All these things must be good.
As to the concern over the ingredients with in juices, I don't know the answer. I have to look at it this way: I had no idea exactly what was in the ciggies I was smoking either, yet I sucked 'em down at the rate of 1-2 packs per day for 28 years. I have to agree with Throat Hit above.... this thread does say to me: GO VAPE, GO VAPE....

Sure, there are risks. Life is risk. Buy a coke from a vendor on the street and it could have drano in it. Someone could also shoot some 'poison' into your pack of smokes at the corner store with a syringe. There is no such thing as safety or security, those are simply illusions. My gut tells me this is a better risk than the one I was taking.

Isn't it interesting that "Mr Smith" didn't come back and respond to any of these points. It is interesting that Mr. Smith only has two posts and starts a long thread on his imagined fears about vaping. No questions like 99% of new members, just a statement of concerns. Mr Smith, who do you work for or represent?? ASH, the FDA, ALA...?? I'm not buying what the OP is trying to do.

I sort of thought the same thing. He made false statements before asking any question. I thought it was odd, but felt I should give him the benefit of the doubt. Being the new members areas I thought it's possible others may have similar concerns so I spent the effort to respond to each item. Hopefully he is genuine, he is online and looking at the coupon code thread..heh. If not, others might find the responses helpful.

It's bad enough that we have to educate the general public...it's worse when someone comes to ECF and can't read the information for themselves...it's even worse when the guy has to get us all worked up on a Sunday!

Aaaaw, gee... I had a lot of the same concerns at first too. I think the guy is valid. I even think it's part of the natural progression of vaping! When you first hear about these things you think (or, I did) "no way they work".. then you think, "yeah, but what's the catch?"

It takes some time for some of us to relax and accept that a miracle has just happened.

There is a lot of info on the web and on these forums that you can do some research on. In the end it is a certain amount of faith and trust that thousands of people here are being honest with their first hand experiences. Most of us are not doctors, scientists, pharmacists, or anything like that, but most of us ARE former smokers! If you can quit smoking without vaping, that is awesome and probably the most healthy thing. A lot of us were not able to do it without vaping and have decided for ourselves that it is it MUCH healthier to do so.

In the end it is your choice to do this or not. You other options are to Smoke (we all know how that story ends), use the Patch (which has been working well for my wife), nicotine gum, snus, or sheer willpower I guess? I am not going to tell you to vape or not vape. I will tell you that for ME personally, the past month of being 100% smoke free has been nothing but amazing.

I absolutely agree. The wording and the digging butts out of the trash(and he's worried about germs). Next we will be classified as a cult.

Good point on the "germs" but has no problem rooting around in the garbage can, lol. We got "anti's" on here quite a bit around the time of the first FDA lawsuit. We got pretty good at spoting the "trolls". It was very much like this post.

What false statements? I haven't made even one. I have never told a lie. Well, of course that's a lie....In any case I have no idea what your alluding to.

wv2win:
Paranoia? Perhaps an extra 10mg for you! (Seriously, it a public forum where everyone goes by pseudonyms. No one is out to get you. Well, except perhaps that guy in the Italian suit wearing raybans over there in the corner. He looks a little suspicious and out-of-place and I think he's been watching you.)

I didn't ask any more questions because I was watching all the great videos by MistressNomad, reading threads, looking at FAQs, and digging through the coupon codes. I went a little crazy this weekend buying stuff. And I do mean all weekend! I ended up with a crap load of stuff being shipped tomorrow. All the hardware I got at VaporKing. They were a couple of dollars more than most but seemed to have a wider selection:
1 x 510 kit (2 complete 510 e-cigs) + PCC
1 x ego kit (2 complete ego e-cigs)
1 x 510 drip tip
10 pack 510 atty's
1 x eGo MEGA empty/blank cartomizer
FreedomSmokesUSA - Coffee Espresso Pre-mixed, 30 Ml, 18mg
FreedomSmokesUSA - oRYental 4 flavor Pre-mixed,30 Ml, 24mg
TastyVapor - Waffles w/Blueberry, 30ml, 24mg
TastyVapor - Caramel Popcorn, 30ml, 24mg

Ummm, I have no idea how long all that will last, LOL, but I figure it's a start. I can see now that I will very soon be mixing my own DIY brews to save money (Thanks MistressNomad for showing us how easy it is!). I don't make enough to keep up this pace of spending.
The ego I will use at home (Big battery so fewer charges). The white 510 is for out and about (I don't want to draw attention so I got one that looked more like a real cig). The ego can also use the 510 parts. The e-juice I picked from recommendations here on ECF and they just sounded good (Next time: TastyVapor Atomic Cinecide and Butterfinger. I didn't see this last one listed though.)

Can you tell that I really really really want to quit smoking fracking tobacco? I'm committed now. I've just spent all my tobacco money and a lot more. But if I achieve my goals it will be worth it. Now if you will excuse me I'm going to the garage to stare at the walls and suck on a nasty cancer stick for the next 15 minutes (I won't smoke in the house/apt) while contemplating my new purchases and when they might arrive!

Cheers!

Good for you! I too was getting a little uncomfortable from your first post, all the great suggestions from everyone, and no further responses. Although this reply seems like you are for real and I for one would like to welcome you to the ECF and wish you the best of luck getting off those nasty analogs!!
