I'm working on a fruit blend and want to use fig as my main, highlighted fruit flavor. I am looking at potential blends with different fruits. I started with this:

5ml test batch:

Capella Fig - 4%
FA peach - 3%
TFA Blueberry Extra - 3%
I drop of TFA Honeysuckle

So this recipe is WAY too strong as is. I'm going to bump down the %'s and see what happens. I'm also going to omit the honeysuckle for now.

Capella Fig - 2%
FA Peach - 1%
TFA Blueberry Extra - 1%

These are the results of a 17% test. All tests done with a LR510 atty:

Royal Raspberry: LA - 17% is still too subtle - no change from the 15% and 13% tests

Fragrance: 1/5
Sweetness: 1.5/5
Tartness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 3/5

Nectarine: LA - 17% is also good for mixing and standalone, just like 13%, but the 15% and 17% bring a tartness note that was absent before

Fragrance: 1/5
Sweetness: 1/5
Tartness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 3.5/5

Double Apple: FW - At 17% it is still too weak and no aftertaste like at 13%

Fragrance: 2/5
Sweetness: 1/5
Tartness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 3.5/5

Mango: TFA - Even at 17%, the flavor is on the subtle side, but I think this is more subtle flavor in general, at least from this vendor; no change from 15%

Fragrance: 1/5
Sweetness: 3/5
Strength of taste: 3.5/5

Cantaloupe: TFA - I decided to try this flavor at 15% even though at 9% it seemed to be okay. At 11% it's perfect for mixing. At 13%, it's great for standalone. At 15% it's starting to come alive; at 17% this flavor is doing much better, I will go higher to see what happens

Fragrance: 2/5
Sweetness: 3/5
Strength of taste: 3.5/5

Dragon Fruit: TFA - 15% is still too weak for me for standalone, but would mix well at this %, this flavor has a creamy texture to it,; at 17% the strength seems to be going down

Fragrance: 2/5
Sweetness: 3/5
Strength of taste: 2.5/5

Black Cherry: FW - 17% is still too subtle

Fragrance: 1/5
Sweetness: 1/5
Tartness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 2.5/5

Black Currant: FW - 17% is still too subtle to me. It has taken on a sour note at this %. Still has a perfumey note like at 15%

Fragrance: 1/5
Sweetness: 0/5
Tartness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 3/5

I will only retest Double Apple (FW), Black Cherry (FW), Black Currant (FW), and Cantaloupe (TFA) at 19%

I took these standalone taste test mixes and combined them to see the effect they have, how they pair together:

Watermelon and Papaya both at 9% - Interesting; the papaya dominates; on the inhale, you get a slight sweet, juicy note from the watermelon, followed by the sharpness and stronger flavor of the papaya.

Peach and Pear both at 7% - This becomes a sweet pear taste; the peach is almost indistinguishable.

These have steeped a few days and there is no change in taste or strength of taste. The pear/peach combo seems to be the best one.

I also mixed the dragon fruit and mango both at 17% and Nectarine and Royal Raspberry, both at 17%. I will let this steep a few days.

I am taste testing these flavors at approximately 20% in PG only on my tongue to see what properties each has:

White Grape - FA Out of bottle this flavor has a perfumey scent. Mixed with PG, it has a floral note to it. This is an authentic clean, light flavor that would compliment many recipes. Based on the perfumey/floral aspect, it may need a while to steep

Fig - CAP Very strong taste, sharp, clean, authentic

Plum - HS Very strong - concentrated, authentic fruit, but not ripe fruit

Boysenberry - TFA Very strong - concentrated, authentic, heavy perfume note

Guava - LAN strong, authentic, also perfume note

Cherry - LAN Strong, cough syrup flavor, blech

Cherry - INA (CZERESNIE) More authentic red maraschino cherry

Lychee - TFA Authentic, bite to it, sour note

Lychee - FA Authentic but bolder, same bite and sour note, more perfumey

Cucumber - CAP Sweet cucumber, authentic, has an aftertaste

Cold Pressed Lime - FA Authentic fruit, sweet and sour, margarita-ish

Today I am putting these in 5ml testers to steep at different %'s:

I added 3 more drops for a total of 6 drops to the following 5ml testers: 50/50 mix, no nicotine

Virginia - INA (e-aromat - tino d'milano)

Dark Fire - INA (WG)

TA Cuban Cigar - INA (WG)

Huckabee & Heinz - FE

I have let these steep a few days, and this is my initial test result, at 6 drops/5ml 50/50 mix, no nicotine:

Virginia - INA (WG - tino d'milano) - this is a mild, mellow tobacco; the sweetness is stronger than the mellow component

Fragrance: 1/5
Throat hit: 1/5
Sweetness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 1/5

Dark Fire - INA (WG) - slight vinegar tasting note, I can't tell if it's plum or raisin or grape note, nice

Fragrance: 1/5
Throat hit: 1/5
Sweetness: 1/5
Sourness: 1/5
Strength of taste: 1/5

TA Cuban Cigar - INA (WG) - complex, layered; maybe dark fruits? and spice, but the spice is mild

Fragrance: 1/5
Throat hit: 1/5
Sweetness: 1/5
Spice: 1/5
Strength of taste: 1/5

Huckabee & Heinz - FE - Has a faint Black and Mild note, has a bite to it, sour note

Fragrance: 1/5
Throat hit: 2/5
Sweetness: 1/5
Sourness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 1/5

I'm going to make these into 15ml testers so that I have plenty to work with when it's ready to vape, add 16 drops for the new 10ml, and 2 drops for the original 5ml, for a total of 24 drops/15ml. I will age this mix for about a week or so, then retest.

*Added the next day - I forgot about FA 7 Leaves because it feel beside my desk. I also added 24 drops of this flavor to 15mls of 50/50 base mix.

These are additive flavorings that are often used to mix with other flavors. I tested them at approximately 20% in pure PG on my tongue:

TFA Caramel Cappuccino - very strong, burnt coffee note, bitter, fake tasting, requires <1%

NF Kona Cream - pretty decent authentic, medium kona taste with mild fake creamy finish

FA Coffee Espresso - same creamy texture as NF Kona Cream, medium coffee note, coffee mouthfeel

TFA Mocha - mild mocha, authentic

TFA Double Chocolate (Clear) - milky dark chocolate with a sharp semi-sweet bite

TFA Milk Chocolate - mild milk chocolate, not very creamy, a sharp chocolate note to it

HS Chocolate Caramel - both the caramel and the chocolate taste fake and do not meld well together :-(

TFA Tiramisu - authentic, strong

FA Vanilla Classic - fake-ish vanilla, but not too bad, mild

TFA Cinnamon - very strong, cinnamon oil tasting, strong aroma

TFA Raisin - I'm not sure I'm tasting this right, it has an almost licorice taste to it, would add a nice dark note to tobaccos

TFA Brown Sugar Extra - authentic, strong, perfect

TFA Cheesecake (Graham Cracker) - rich, semi-authentic, graham cracker note

Graham Cracker (Clear) - nutty note, semi-authentic, mouthfeel, cheesecake with graham cracker has a more authentic graham cracker note to it

FA Oakwood - great flavor that would compliment tobaccos, dark fruits, and alcoholic beverage type vapes

These are the results of a 19% test. All tests done with a LR510 atty:

Double Apple: FW - At 19% it is still too weak, but now the aftertaste has returned.

Fragrance: 2/5
Sweetness: 1/5
Tartness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 3.5/5

Cantaloupe: TFA - This flavor is getting better and better. The flavor intensity has not changed, but it's become richer and more layered. I will retest again at 21% and see what happens.

Fragrance: 2/5
Sweetness: 3/5
Strength of taste: 3.5/5

Black Cherry: FW - 19% is still too weak and now has a perfume note to it, so 17% is the highest this flavor should go.

Fragrance: 1/5
Sweetness: 1/5
Tartness: 2/5
Strength of taste: 3/5

Black Currant: FW - 19% is still too subtle to me. It has taken on a sour note at this %. Still has a perfumey note like at 15% and 17%.

Final results of testing:

Royal Raspberry: LA - 5% -13%, going higher does not intensify taste. This is subtle flavor even at 13%. It's not sweet, but tart.

Nectarine: LA - 5% -13% This flavor has a sharpness to it.

Double Apple: FW - 5%-17%. At 19% a perfume note takes over.

Lemon: TFA - 5% - 13%. At 15%, the flavor turns synthetic.

Mango: TFA - 5% - 15%, the flavor is subtle even at higher %'s. At 17%, there is no change.

Cantaloupe: TFA - 5%-19%+. This flavor gets better the higher the %. Still testing.

Dragon Fruit: TFA - 5% - 17%. Even at 17%, the flavor is subtle to me. I wanted a stronger Dragon Fruit and may try a different manufacturer.

Black Cherry: FW - 5% - 17%. At 19%, the flavor turns perfumey.

Black Currant: FW - 5% -13%. At 15%+, the flavor turns perfumey.

Bubble Gum: TFA - 5% - 11%. At 13%, the flavor changes to something odd.

I'm working on a fruit blend and want to use fig as my main, highlighted fruit flavor. I am looking at potential blends with different fruits. I started with this:

5ml test batch:

Capella Fig - 4%
FA peach - 3%
TFA Blueberry Extra - 3%
I drop of TFA Honeysuckle

I honestly can't taste anything except the base at this point. I will let it steep a few days and see if the flavors develop.

I'm looking for a complex fruit and I'm not sure how to achieve that. I can get fruit mixes that vary in intensity of flavor, but they all are pretty much 2 dimensional. If I add cream or marshmallow, it increases mouthfeel, which does sort of add complexity, but not really. I don't want to make it a dessert type vape by adding pie crust or graham cracker. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make a juice complex with levels of flavor?

So this recipe is WAY too strong as is. I'm going to bump down the %'s and see what happens. I'm also going to omit the honeysuckle for now.

Capella Fig - 2%
FA Peach - 1%
TFA Blueberry Extra - 1%

This has steeped a few days - It's a little light, I'm going to bump it up one more %

I made my first tobacco tester tonight - 3 drops of INA e-aromat Virginia in 4ml 50VG/50PG mix, no nicotine. I will let this steep awhile before I test it.

I have let these steep a few days, and this is my initial test result, at 6 drops/5ml 50/50 mix, no nicotine:

Fragrance: 1/5
Throat hit: 1/5
Sweetness: 1/5

Fragrance: 1/5

I'm going to make these into 15ml testers so that I have plenty to work with when it's ready to vape, add 16 drops for the new 10ml, and 2 drops for the original 5ml, for a total of 24 drops/15ml. I will age this mix for about a week or so, then retest.

At 1 % more than before, but 1% less than the original recipe, which turned out too strong, this last test shows a perfume note, probably from the Fig, and no dominant flavor and it's sort of meh. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I will bump it back up to the original recipe %'s and see what happens:

Capella Fig - 4%
FA Peach - 3%
TFA Blueberry Extra - 3%
