My doctor's note re vaping

I was having a big problem with a family member who still thinks vaping is the same as smoking or using tobacco. I mentioned this to my cardiologist. He left the exam room and returned with the following note for me (slightly edited):

To Whom it May Concern:
My patient, Marchingon, has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. She is following a medication regimen and is currently doing well.

Marchingon quit smoking 6 months ago and is using electronic cigarettes, a product I highly recommend for my patients who wish to quit smoking. She is using a minimal amount of nicotine and electronic cigarettes have no known health risks. During their use, both her cardiac and lung functions have continued to improve and I have advised her that she may continue to use them for as long as she chooses.
Sincerely,
Dr. X

The last thing I was expecting was a doctor's note, and it handled the problem completely. I wish most doctors (and legislators) were as educated as this guy.

That's so cool that you got an actual NOTE from your doc encouraging it. :)

My doc condoned me switching to vaping as well. I was demonstrating symptoms of COPD. Persistent congested cough, constant bronchitis and bouts of pneumonia, and finally I ended up with a completely obstructed left lung and severe pain and swelling in my left side. I asked him if he thought it would be a good idea for me to try vaping instead of smoking since I had tried all the FDA approved methods of quitting and still failed, and I got the green light from him. He reasoned that at that point vaping was a lot better for my lungs than smoking, and something needed to be done immediately to improve my lung function.

And all those symptoms disappeared. I've got 100% healthy lung function now... in BOTH lungs. If I had tried to quit any other way, I may have not been so lucky and ended up on medication due to how long it would have taken me to be successful... or on my way to a slow and painful early demise if I had continued to fail.

Vaping isn't just an alternative to smoking or an alternative way to quit. It can actually be LIFE SAVING in emergency situations like what I was experiencing. Which is why it needs to continue to be available over the counter to adults!

It is so great to see someone else's doc has seen the light and that someone else has had the experience of vaping saving their life. Let's just hope the government follows suit.
