hi again folks... probably going to be a bit long in the post, but... I had to tell someone this one!
Saturday afternoon, taking the weekend trip from Buffalo to Rochester (weekly thing, every saturday).
about half way there - see a state trooper in the left lane, gaining on me... (I WAS behaving myself, no matter WHAT my wife thinks!
) I'm just cruising along, vaping away...as the trooper comes alongside me, he slows down and paces me a few seconds (looking at the speedometer - cruise is set to 72 or so - normally wouldn't even get a second glance from the cops) he pulls along side my door and as I look over at him, he's shooting me what looks like a rather unhappy look... what the hell did I do NOW?!?! next thing I know - he's got his lights on, hits the siren/horn briefly - I look over at him again, and now he's motioning me to pull over... WTH?!?!?!
alright - onto the shoulder - I know THIS drill all too well... get the car stopped, parking brake on, engine off, radio off, four-ways on... "assume the position" - one hand in the steering wheel, the other resting on the window-frame (I learned a long time ago - put the cop at ease A.S.A.P., so he's less likely to want his hand on his gun)...
(still trying to figure out why this guy looked so pi$$ed, and why I'm the center of his attention now) trooper comes out of his car, comes alongside of the car "do you know why I pulled you over this afternoon?" (with a straight face I reply) "no, not really" (I don't intend to incriminate myself YET)
Well, sir - I saw you put that thing (my PT) in your mouth, and blow smoke from it - now, either that is some fancy new piece of paraphernalia - or you're smoking an e-cigarette...
(??? am I unaware of a new law in NY banning e-smokes?
hmm...)
"yes sir, it IS an e-cigarette..."
"how does it work for you? you been able to quit smoking real cigarettes? do those things really help?"
so - for the next 15 minutes, I'm sitting on the side of the thruway - explaining to this trooper about V4L, and e-cigs in general... he's been trying to quit for YEARS... needless to say, I handed him my last V4L biz card and told him my story... now I just got to wonder if we'll see him here (I hope so) and if he'll have any kind of luck with quitting smoking and taking up vaping...
Well, kids- that's the whole story... "and they vaped happily ever after"
as a PS - maybe THAT is the ticket (no pun intended) - get LAW ENFORCEMENT hooked on vaping! then the government will HAVE to take a better look at us! ;-)
