I live in a very small town. I have never seen another vaper in the wild. The one time I took my vamo out of the house I got pulled over. The officer was very nice. I explained what it was. He tested my juice using the little kit they carry here. He sent me on my way with a gratz on quitting smoking. No he had never seen anything bigger than a cigalike before.

Now I just take my little volt out with me and leave the vamo at home. Not that it was a horrible experience with the cop but more that I rarely have the half an hour that all took to spare.
After reading the comments here, I've decided on two things. If I'm on the road to work, I buy a slimmer ecig. Am open to suggestions on which ecig will deliver billows of warm and flavorful smoke. Second thing is if I'm not in any hurry, I'm gonna use my extended provari and buy the biggest tank I can find. I could be asking for it but I love my provari and should be able to vape on the road without any harassment. I like the idea of print outs explaining what is vaping and the different types of delivering systems. I'll make sure the print outs are in full view if I get pulled over again. I'll be respectful but it should be a two way street here.

I pretty much don't vape anywhere where smoking isn't allowed.....

Humm, so the perception you want the world to recognize is that vaping and smoking are the same thing and equally as bad for you and anyone near you. Perception is reality and that is the perception you are presenting to the uninformed.

Let's vape openly but respectfully and we will have more opportunities to educate the uninformed on the benefits of vaping and it's safety for those near by.

I was gonna pass on this one, but what the heck. It's JMO anyway. I could see a local LEO being unaware, especially in some places where vaping isn't big. A State Trooper though??? I'd be inclined to write a letter to my State Representatives asking what kind of training the taxpayers were paying for. Pretty much unforgivable in my book. Stae Police should be held to a higher standard and the monies that States spend on LE at that level should be up to date so that the REAL government (you know...us) aren't unduly harrassed.

Great story. Sorry the trooper had to such a jerk. here in south Florida, most people don't pay much attention to vaping. If I'm at a light or driving next to a cop, I vape boldly in front of them. Walking in a mall I'll take a nice big vape while passing by the security dweeb. The more we just be boldly open with it, the less people care about it. Most of the reactions I get are simple curiosity. When that happens, I simply feed them with calm educated info so they don't go into an ignorant freak-out.

You should've taken a nice big vape as he was walking up the side of your car, LOL.

Hey!!! Security dweeb? I'm a security officer. :D:p

PLEASE ya'll, take da time to view this YT video for your own 'protection'. We need to reclaim our Constitution. Keep in mind that there are and have been all too many that have paid much more than any lost work time/court cost/inconvenience to support our dwindling remaining freedoms.

BTW, classwife is most likely the most fair and understanding mod that I've had contact with. A 'foe' of CW is a 'foe' of mine!

I vape when and where I want and I consider others when I do so.....And that's somehow wrong?

I vape openly, just not in restaurants and similar environments...And I always vape respectfully...But I will not Vape militantly where ever I damned well please just to prove a point. Sorry but I'm not one of those types of vapers. I vape for myself, not for the education of others. If that's wrong, then so be it but why am I responsible for what other's think of vaping?

I've always asked permission to vape in restaurants and the like. If told no, it's fine, I don't mind. But in the privacy of my truck, I get pulled over on my way to work because of an overzealous state trooper, told to take an DUI test even though I wasn't drinking, driving like a drunk, speeding or any mechanical failures. He kept me on the side of the road for more than an hour with his car parked behind me, still flashing lights. The final insult was he never apologized for being totally wrong.

I'm totally on board with this position.

I, too, am a proud "open vaper", and I approach it in pretty much the same way.

I vape in my car--and I NEVER hide it.

I vape when I'm out walking in public--and I never hide it.

I vape in bars and restaurants where I know it's allowed--and I never hide it.

But I'm not going to militantly vape where I know it's not acceptable, and I don't go around blowing vape in people's faces. I try not to vape around children and I don't vape in other people's houses unless I know they are cool with it.

"Stealth vaping", IMO, only promoted this idea among LEOs and the general public, that vaping is somehow dicey, or that you are doing something wrong, dangerous or illegal. If someone can't make it through a movie without vaping, then it's not the rules that are a problem--that person has a SERIOUS nicotine addiction that is obviously interfering with your life, and they need to address that.

I carry around the biggest most complicated, high-tech rig I own most of the time--an eVic with an AMP Tank. I get a LOT of questions, and I parlay those questions into opportunities to educate people about e-cigs and vaping.

And I can't see anything wrong with educating people who otherwise woudl never have any idea what we're all about...

This is why we carry cell phones with video recording capabilities.

Use your tech.

It's amazing what a few strategically-uploaded videos can do to adjust the attitude of out-of-control LEAs...

YOU have the right to an attorney, and to make your case in court. If you did nothing wrong, any charge will be dropped.

The PROBLEM with this system....is even though charges will be dropped, you 1) Still go to jail, 2) Still have to pay for bail (it will get refunded, but still), 3) Still might have to pay for a lawyer, 4) Will miss time at work/potentially lose your job, and 5) Suffer the embrassment of having a cop take away your rights for whatever reason he deems, and 6) The cop is VERY unlikely to suffer any consequences for false arrests.

Problem # 7 - you still have the arrest on your record, even if the charges are dropped. So next time you apply for a job that requires a background check, the arrest for 'illegal substance or equipment' will show up and NO explanation attached on why it was dropped.

Around here a LEO will arrest you for videotaping them even though laws prohibiting it have been ruled unconstitutional.

Illinois was the LAST state in the union to hold out for not having ANY sort of concealed carry permit, and even now, they are fighting tooth and nail against the SUPREME COURT's ruling that they HAVE to implement some sort of CC program.

And if you know anything about the general practices of LEAs in IL, it's pretty obvious why IL politicians and LEOs have such a negative position on the idea of law-abiding citizens being able to defend themselves against brutal, violent, lawless criminals and thugs... ;-)
