i am happy with my choice of batteries .using 4 AA and the volt meter with no atty shows 5.2 volts
they are NI MH .with the atty it shows 4.3 V mainly for reason of safty ..avalability and price .
well muphys law ....shorted for a couple of seconds and smoke !! no explosion and they stiil work perfect.
tryed a voltage regulator but a no go.i gues you need about 2 volts more in batteries to regulate in to the usefull range.
vapes nice without them.
on my next project i am thinking variable CURENT insted of voltage regulator . like you use it on your LED current limeting resistor . a varable resistor in serries w atty would be worth a try on the bread board.
what i would also not do again is a buildin volt meter like seperate better.olso the swiches one for voltmeter gone!
the on off swich also gone the only time you need it is packing for travel and then have a small piece of insulator material.press one battery against the spring insert it over pos terminal .
i once had to open my carryon bag at paris airport ...somthing was humming!! security thougt it was funny !!i it was an electric tooth brush !!
my next project is a computer ps into a lab supply w regulated output and two analog meters volts and amps.
