I have been vaping for over five years and have always used internal battery mods. With my recent bad experience with my aspire zelos, I have decided to buy my first external battery mod. I only do MTL and vape at around 12 watts. I never use temp control and I use a Siren tank, with nautilus 2 as backup.

What I am looking for
Mod with external battery that will last me all day, recharge at night and ready to go in morning
Can be single or double battery
dont care how it looks with my tank on top as long as it works for me
Not hung up on color or looks
Am on fixed income so money, US, is an issue. $35 to $40 max
also recommended batteries and charger to go with it would be great.
Any help/recommendations would be appreciated
Thanks

The advantage of changeable battery mods is you can swap batteries. I have a 4 port charger which I fill with batteries and whenever a mod runs out of juice I simply swap the battery out. If I want to go all day with a single battery mod I simply carry a spare in my pocket and swap it in If needed. While most of my mods have micro usb2 ports I do not use them to charge the device. It takes forever and it doesn’t do it very well. Plus it wears the port which is notoriously fragile. Battery chargers and multiple batteries is totally the way to go.

As single battery mods go the eleaf pico is well thought of. If you want something rugged the geekvape ageis is milspec. It’s pretty large though. The 26650 battery should do you for all day in mtl though.

Most of the smoat double battery mods such as the battlestar and the Charon are also popular.

Depends on the battery you buy and what your coils ohms are at when you vape.

My REO I vape at .5Ω and the battery lasts a full day and I can vape while working. I use LG INR18650HG2 3000 mAh. Illumn sends a case with each pair of batteries you buy.

18650 LG 18650HG2 3000mAh High Discharge Flat Top - Batteries - Batteries, Chargers, and PowerPax Carriers

Buy a pair and you should grab a charger

Nitecore SC2 Superb Charger Li-ion, NiMH/NiCd Charger - Chargers - Batteries, Chargers, and PowerPax Carriers

If you pick up a dual battery mod all day is easy, just pick up a second set of batteries.

The aspire speeder is getting great reviews for reliability and having a slim/light form factor for a 2 battery mod. I think you can find it within budget it's not terribly expensive. I thought about getting one but I have plenty of mods, however I don't think I've run into a single person who didn't like it.

With two batteries, you would definitely get the battery life you need, and it's a nice, light mod. I use the intelligcharger v2 and I've been very happy with it. It charges all my batteries, including the 20700 (or whatever number I'm trying for here... need moar coffee) and it's not expensive. You do have to be a bit careful with the sleds, but my batteries have all been fine. It's not expensive. With a two battery mod you could start with two batteries and put them on the charger overnight but usually overnight charging isn't recommended in case something happens to your charger. If you can afford it, 4 batteries would be better so you can swap out and charge whenever. Honestly, you should be able to get decent batteries that are authentics for under $5 each. The Nitecore can be found on amazon, but battery suppliers and vape stores sell them too, you could look around for a deal, Heaven's gifts had a special on a 4 bay charger that I almost got for $11 or $15 or something crazy (I wound up not getting it) but there are deals to be had, I'd look at Halloween specials.

If you want something heavy, a steampunk nano 120 is a fantastic vape, it's also a powerful vape and doesn't go below 7 watts, which is probably about 9 watts on any other mod, so it does have some issues.....

If you want small, light, and a 2 battery mod, I really think the Speeder might be your bet though. I could understand wanting something different than another aspire product given your zelos did not last so long-- there are tons of things available at various price points. Good luck!

There are a ton of choices anymore, most of which will work fine for you. So go for something that fits comfortably and looks right for you.

"Something that will last all day", even at 12 watts is hard to define. How long is your "day" and how frequently do you take a hit and for how long? If you get a single 18650 mod, as others have said, carry an extra battery (in a protective case, of course). JMHO, but I prefer carrying that "extra battery" right in the mod. So unless very small size is really important to you, go with a dual 18650.....some are not that much bigger/heavier anymore.

Before I got my Speeder a week or so ago I was using a kangertech Kbox mini. I like it, it still works and I still use it. Came with a subtank mini with a rebuildable deck as well. Its fairly small, light and easy to use as well.

My only gripe would be the finish didn't hold up very well, it looks like its beat to heck. Works great though.

There are a few dual battery mods that are wired in parallel and have insane battery life, but I can't remember the names off hand.

I don't notice a big increase in battery life with speeder even though it has two batteries, but they are in series.

Just because they make new fancy higher tech mods doesn't mean you have to buy one. Sounds like you vape like me. 1-2 ohms, and well under 30 watts. And you said you are not interested in temp control. I would suggest you look at models that are a bit outdated like the Kbox mini. You might be able to get a better deal on them and they have been out long enough that people know if they work well or not. Don't have to get the Kbox, there plenty of other models that do the same thing.
