I've got a rainy day off so here are pictures of my madvapes Manipu-mod.

"madvapes" because all the parts can be purchased from MadVapes and were the source of concrete inspiration. I hope Hoogie doesn't mind when we use his website name in our mod names. He could probably sue us all for copyright infringement?
MadVapes is not responsible for this mod and does not necessarily endorse what I might say, look like or stare at too long and... yadda, yadda, yadda.... you know, like the disclaimer DVDs always state about actor commentary and stuff! "I'm not a Modder, I just play one on ECF."

"Manipu" because it is a manipulated Nico-Stick originally created by the ECF member NicoWolf... which is a manipulated 2 "AA" battery box which contains a larger battery than the stock batteries. Also, because this mod leaves possibilities to manipulate further from a juice bottle holder... to a juice bottle cart dripper.... then eventually into a juice injection system. Three phases... all of which are useful at each phase and any of which can be accomplished by the modder when the time or desire arises.

"Mod" well, that speaks for itself. It is a battery/juice bottle modified container to attach an atomizer to and vape.

Probably my biggest reason for creating these and posting a "how-to" is for peoples enjoyment, of course, but more so for human/animal safety. These mods make things easier in the dark and are especially helpful while driving. Even me, who is normally an extremely cautious driver, has dripped juice while driving... at night, none the less, because I work nightshift and drive to/from work in the dark. This mod is easy to locate in the dark too as I have it so the slow changing LED is on as long as the main on/off switch is on. Amazingly... the LED hardly uses any of my battery longevity.

I know these posts in the MadVapes subforum might annoy some so I will be posting the "how-to" over in the Modders forum since I expect a lot of questions. That way we can enjoy our little group of MadVapes Junkies over here and enjoy discussion on the MadVapes items that enable these Mods to be created and the juices that make us want them! And... I will finally have time to post my comments on the other mods shared here by the MadVapers and how inspiring I find them. Glad MadVapers are posting their Mods here also because not everyone gets the time to weed through the main Modders forum. Very inspiring!

But.... I wanted to post the first pictures here for my fellow MadVaping crowd!

Thank you all for your feedback.

The mod you see above is the first phase to a juice feeding system. It is what I'll be posting a how-to on. The rest will probably be up to the viewer due to time limitations on my behalf (i.e. Life and the love there-of, Loved Ones and a full time Job). I have yet to come up with the hoses and where to buy them, fittings, etc. Have the MOSFET but need the time for proper research and testing, therefore it will not be included either.

There are some really simple juice feeder set-ups and some very complex experimental ones being posted which the modder can incorporate into this one due to its layout. Some people are investing a lot of time and money in trying to come up with the perfect one... neither of which I have. The Mahmba is actually a very simple one. Sometimes the best is to just keep it simple.

Here is the system I have in the "Nico-Drip" but no parts supplier that I can give to help you. I'm also experimenting with a 2ml pump bottle that fits in there beautifuly. Anyone with any ideas, please share!

Great idea! That is what I was thinking of doing for the guy version.... carving (actually grinding/melt) a little skull with glowing LED eyes. I know ejoker and ConnMan would like it at least!?!

I tried a pipette once and love how soft they are and easily squeezed but, unfortunately they do not hold up well. They would be good for someone who doesn't mind modding them all the time. I was looking for something more durable but no time to find and order various sizes of tubing just now. I'm hoping, as some others have mentioned in the "MadVapes Carry" thread that maybe Hoogie knows where to find small tubing and buys some so we can buy it off him. I'd buy!

Very nice Dreams! How'd you melt the box without deforming it too much?

It's not melted... it's sanded with rough, then light, sand paper. I only resort to melting when I've messed up. :|

The how-to will be ready in a couple days probably. Something like 12 pictures.... now I just need to finish texting info onto them, try to fit as much as possible and try not to leave anything out. Should make for an easy to save how-to for people like me that save mod pics for future reference. Pictures and as much info as I can fit on them. Looks like it'll be one of those threads that people on dial-up might have a hard time loading (like me) so that is why I am trying to condense the pictures/info.

I've had to put a strike through my words above and am editing this to say that I may not be posting a how-to yet. There is good reason that it may be premature until I figure out which MOSFET or FET can work with this set-up. My "nico-drip" worked fine for weeks until I cracked it while attempting to change the set-up on the top of it. I'm not sure this one is. After only a few days use it seems to have dropped off. Not sure if it has or it is my imagination. My mini-nico-stick with a tactile switch is still working fine after a few months.

I was working on the premise that I could use the MOSFET in this thread here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/madvapes/64214-mosfet-3-7-volt-2.html#post962501
But noticed that is an 801 atty he has pictured?

There are other MOSFETS that have been mentioned in the modders forum but finding them and the info is very difficult. I have many MOSFETS that are mentioned but I will have to re-research them now. Probably post in the Modders forum requesting info.

So..... sorry folks..... until I am certain that I am modding a lasting thing.... I will not be posting the how-to. I will still upload the how-to to my photobucket account when I complete it... but will not post it until I find some answers..... ugh... and that takes time. Or.... until I buy an 801 atty and connector? Not sure. More learning and vaping to do.

Sorry folks. :(

Still..... any info anyone has on tubing or voltage regulators for this mod..... please share!?

hmm. So this little beauty: LDO 5 volt, 3.0 amp regulator with control pin! not only provides short circuit protection and over temp porotection but also at voltages under 5 volts works as a mosfet (credit to boondoggle for finding that one).. Now the only question is what happens under 3 volts? I'm going to be doing some testing in this area to see exactly what they will do..

I took my mod to work with me last night and used it as my sole vape. I believe it was just my imagination or my over fondness for Perfumers Apprentice Cappuccino flavor that may have been the problem.

The switch is working, the vaping is tasty, throat hit... all that.

As 5cardstud picked up on... I am a very detail oriented person and one highly critical of certain things... namely, everything that I do. I am looking for problems I guess.

On studying the forums for tactile switches, there seems to be a 50/50 on whether these work or not. Yet no concrete facts that I found either way. Certain members I have total faith in have said they work just fine until they wear out. The best modders out there have all gone through switch changes and they were not even tactile switches... but more heavy-duty switches.

This mod only has room for a small tactile switch. This mod was made for this switch! I simply do not want to change this little switch... I love this design! It is made of metal and you can tear it apart and put it back together! It has personality! Upon tearing apart a few tactile switches... this one is tops in my opinion. It is quality.

ballbutnsw.jpg

I will find a MOSFET/FET whatever is called for to protect my little switch! As God as my witness.... I will never go tactless again!!!!

To make a long story short..... I am now certain that I will post this mod to the Modders forum. I will voice my concerns and hopefully get feedback. If we cannot find the answers, maybe the answers can find us? If anything..... we will learn.

And maybe some tubing will find us too?

This is certainly going to make the 5 volt mod easy. Already have the LDO for it from MadVapes.

(And this all making my clear 2 "AA" box mod idea wait is driving me crazy!)

I am working on one as we speak, just afraid to sand the box! I did one last year but used a 3 AAA box, didn't like the size, this is much better!

Oh, thank you so much Stormin!!!

Do be careful on sanding the box at the corners... just don't want to go too thin. I believe I used 420 or 320 grit, then 1000 grit, 2000 grit.

If you make a mistake... you could always melt the plastic with the soldering iron (in properly ventilated conditions) and rework it.

I basically stopped trying to drill holes in these boxes and started using my dremel with grinding attachments on high speed to melt through the plastic. No chance of splitting/cracking that way.

Can't wait to see it! Best of luck!

Edit to add: I just remembered... I did melt the plastic in order to get the bottle/thumb hole you see in the pic above. I was lucky and have a stencil burning knife. (a heated x-acto knife)

I just finished! Need to sand the edges of the hole but need to get some sandpaper, It looks great to me! I put the tube real snug to the atty and like it better than my old one because it doesn't stick out so much. It was a bear getting the switch in there and I didn't put it in the corner. I didn't want to waste a good box with a mistake, maybe the next one. I got 4 boxes to mess with.
Oh ya, I'm not sure what the deal was with the LED's either, I tried 2 and couldn't get it to work, never had that problem before & had to leave it out and walk away from it, it was driving me bonkers!
Anyway...I really like it, nice and small!
One more thing, I like it better than my Juice Box! Now just need paint!
