Hello E cig forums. I am new here and the sole purpose of me joining this forum was in the hopes that I could obtain some advice tips for the mom who just wont quit.

I am 22, I bought my first pen style e cig awhile back and I loved it immediately. I soon realized tho there were much better devices then the pen style I was using. I made the natural progression to a little box mod I had for a few months then I just recently purchased a Lavatube Lambo 4.0. I love it and I could never thank the miracle that are ecigs for saving me & my lungs from those nasty things.

Now I managed to convince my father (a pack & a half smoker for 40 years) to purchase an ecig and within 2 weeks he was off analogs and a year later I bought him a new mod and I take care of refilling and doing all the dirtywork for him to try and make his experience as simple as analogs were to him.

My mom on the other hand is much different (pack a day smoker for 40 years as well) every once in awhile I try to ask her and point her into the direction of just giving them a try, as soon as I mention it she will quickly avoid the subject or say how she is too tired to talk about it. I had her on those pen style ecigs for a little while until she was at work one day and the battery crapped out on her and she panicked and ran to the closest shop and bought a pack. I dread that mistake to this day as I think she bases her entire negative opinion on the subject via that mishap.

It's so frustrating as she is a health nut and never buys any junk food...She swims twice a day and just generally stays in shape & she tries to force her healthy opinion on the entire family when I think it is slightly hypocritical when she is the last in the family to be on analogs.

She says she wants to quit all the time & tells me how shes going to do it but I think In her mind she doesn't want to quit and why in the hell would she shell out 50+ dollars on something she thinks wont work.

I don't want to spend 50+ dollars of my own if she isn't even going to try it either, it kills me.

Maybe there is nothing I can do until she REALLY wants to quit? :'(

Anywhoo if there is any advice from some of you long time analog smokers out there who quit via ecigs I would very very very much appreciate it.

Thanks for reading!

Hi and welcome. It's nice that you make your dads experience easier, shows how much you care. Maybe with your mom, seeing as she doesn't eat junk food and try's to make you do the same, maybe you can do a trade off, you will eat healthy and she must vape instead of smoke.

Tried that ^.^ she said "Well you should be doing that anyway" and that was the end of that.

i had this exact problem with my mom, she acts interested in quitting and likes the idea of ecigs, but as soon as i bring up the idea of taking her to the shop, she is suddenly too busy

my solution: treat yourself or your dad to a brand new mod! make sure its a pretty good upgrade from what you have now. you will love vaping even more than you did before. plus, now you have you or your dads old one just laying around gathering dust. who better to pawn that one off to but your reluctant mother? worked for me, ive already noticed my garage doesnt have that disgusting old cigarette smell as often anymore :)

Hehe. Well maybe you could give her a guilt trip. Tell her how much you love her and don't want to lose her. If that doesnt work then maybe get her a nice girly pink setup, maybe the cuteness factor will win her over. You could always try mass information to change her mind .

Your Mum sounds like me!!! However my kids are in their forties now so think I might have a bit of time on her. However, again, I still enjoy my swimming and after vaping for about 8 mths, I think, I notice my breathing is much easier and my swimming longer and better. All I can say is what brought me over to vaping, and I am never tempted to smoke, is the smell on my clothing, the cost (in Aus they are dear) and circulation issues. Obviously, your Mum is interested in her health as she swims and eats well so I would leave some info around about the great advantages of vaping over smoking. There are some really good ones on this site. Rave about the lovely flavours of the juices and how the nicotine level can be adjusted so you are not really missing your fags. Let your Mum see the wisdom of the change in her own time. Maybe you and your Dad buy an attractive kit with interesting EJuice to try for her birthday. My husband, non smoker, told me about E-Cigs one day and they were on special so I tried them. They were shockers!!! :-( but got me on the road of experimentation. Now I love them.
Good luck with it all. B.t.w. this is from a nearly 50 yr smoker, and that is not my age!!! LOL Cheers and enjoy your vapes!

Here is my opinion on "the switch" take from it what you will. This is my fourth time switching to ecigs and the longest and this one is for good. The difference was I didn't force it. Always carried cigarettes with me. Had a few a day with as much restraint as I could down to 2 or one a day over 6 days. Still carried them for 2 weeks after but didn't have one. I also had packs in my nightstand for a few months. There's nothing worse than that feeling that you have no cigarettes. Honestly in my opinion if she has a battery problem and has a couple until she sees you that's not a big deal because at that point she's still made the switch and has that safety and those couple are gonna taste terrible. So my recommendation is basically just what I did.
