Hey, all. I've had a thread on this in the VK forum for a few days, but I thought I'd come over here and start one since Vaporkings is giving up the GG franchise.

So, I got my new Nickel-plated GGTB on Saturday, took it to a vape meet with me, and tried it out. It wouldn't work. A bunch of pros and I tried everything, and eventually we got it firing, but it won't fire consistently. Sometimes it'll fire when I hold down the button, sometimes I've got to press it REALLY hard.

I've checked that all the connections are clean. Rob from VK suggested checking to make sure that there's no burrs on the button connector. None. He suggested I press in on the button hard and twist, and this seemed to work at first, but after vaping for an hour it started to misfire again.

I'm thinking that there's a manufacturer defect in the button post, that it's not long enough to make solid contact with the battery post. I've asked Rob to replace the button, but I want to see if anyone else has any ideas.

So, anyone?

SOunds like you tried all the proper steps. You can take the bottom cap off and look inside to see if the button is is making contact with the center post. If it isnt then you know the reason for the misfire. Also check the screw in the top cap and make sure it is screwed all the way in so the post is making contact with the atty or carto.

I was having a bit of a problem with the GGTS that I got. Took and cleaned all of the threads really good. What you will want to do perodically is clean both the button post and positive post. The easiest way (and from an electronic standpoint) is use a standard pink eraser found on just about any pencil. I do this on all of my electronic boards as well as all my PV connectors. The GGTS hits like a champ now

I try t clean and noalox the button every week after having similar button troubles. Also, I doubled the spring in one of my GGTS fuses and that helped also..........but you have a GGTB so how is the bottom spring? Make sure its seated properly, not all bent up........just spitballing!:)

Geez, guys, I'm not THAT much of a newb. I'm using 14500 batteries at the moment. I had a brand new LR 808 carto on it, and it suddenly went dead. Replaced it with a new 510 carto, filled it completely, it was definitely NOT dry, and when I hit the button I smelled and tasted something burnt, and the carto went dead. I'm not using LR cartos at HV, or any of that stupidity. I'm really frustrated, had always heard that GGs were such awesome and bulletproof PVs, but I've had nothing but problems with this one.

Not really. It was pretty quick. Burnt smell/taste, carto gone within a second, like a voltage spike or something. That shouldn't happen with protected 14500s, though. The attys had burnt out the day before, but I thought they were just bad. They were the ones that came with my 510 and Riva, so I thought they were cheap stuff. It worked ok with cartos for a day after that, then started frying those too.
