Such places?

You mean normal places that normal people go? Restaurants. Pools.

We also went to a concert, I guess we should add concert halls...they did not allow vaping in there either.

So anyplace you can't vape is a place of intolerance and oppression? That would include an awful lot of places, wouldn't it?
Yes. It's oppresive. And I find their myopic attitudes extremely offensive.

Normal? Very condescending aren't you?

I vape at all kinds of restaurants, bars, all kinds of indoor and outdoor concert outdoor venues. I guess me and all the rest of the abnormal people. The places that choose not to allow it are places where I choose not to reward their business practices and choices with my hard-earned money.

It's not fricking smoking, and it's a lot less harmful to bystanders than say, having to put up with whiny, crying children.

People have been brainwashed so effectively by the anti-smoking crowd that many have carried the associated self-loathing over to vaping. I get it. You feel like you're sub-human, unworthy, and your activities will not only offend, but kill all those around you. Get over it. It's all a bunch of crap.

Just so I don't misunderstand your point, do you think you ought to be able to vape everywhere?

It is comparable to smoking in the sense that it still produces "smoke" and that the smell has the potential to be quite unpleasant for other people. That's why I think you should have some common courtesy. There are odorless liquids but all of them produce vapor to some degree. The vapor disperses quickly but the smell lingers, and if a lot of people vape in a confined space, the result is comparable to that of a 'smokers den'.

So no, I don't think it's oppressive. But some people really shove it up other people's assess on how much it's certainly not like smoking, to an obnoxious degree.

I've got a rule: How about movie theaters? I was with a friend (in an IMAX 3D theater no less) seeing a movie, and there were a handfull of other people in the theater, moslty sitting behind us. This was before I started vaping myself, but during the movie my buddy whips out his vape and starts puffing away, at first blowing it down through his shirt casually but eventually just exhaling right out in the open. This made me pretty uncomfortable, and I told him it wasn't cool but he kept it up. I could smell it pretty easily, but more than that the plume of vapor was just wafting up, and seemed like it would be really distracting and disrespectful of the other people in the theater. I was even worried that he would get us both kicked out. What do you guys think? It seems like this is the kind of thing that is going to cause people to start putting up "NO VAPING" signs everywhere.

That's pretty much what I think. Also it sets no good predicament for the vaping community as a whole if people just vape wherever they damn well please. The legislators are probably salivating over it.

As a manager of a movie theater I can say that we have a no vaping policy, although we don't have any signs up or anything like that. Usually I'll give people a heads up if I notice them with a lanyard or if they are vaping anywhere inside. If it happens inside a theater I'll let them know that they can't do it, and if they continue to do it they'll have to leave.

I think he may be referring to the days when smokers knew where it was appropriate to smoke.
I'm referring to the days when it was controlled by personal discretion and the policy of business and property owners, not by intolerant, controlling, legislative busybodies.

If it's not a danger to anyone, it shouldn't be banned.

Or should it? It does no harm to anyone and if it should be banned simply because people don't like it, that would mean the very bans themselves would have to be struck down. Why? Because I don't like it.

Your theater, your rules. Fair enough.

Although it is easier to manage expectations if you actually set them first.

Your approach kind of reminds me of the "double secret probation" in Animal House.

I love my vaping. I'm a chain Vaper all day every day! But... I can go to the movies, walmart for a few hours, grocery shopping for an hour, and anywhere else for a while without leaving to need a Vape. It's about self control.

I agree vaping is not smoking but I respect others spaces. I have a friend who has a daughter who is allergic to quite a few things. The odor of any Vape causes her throat to swell up. I don't know if its the PG in the Vape or what but that alone made me think about all these people who feel the entitlement to Vape wherever they want. You never know when someone near you has an allergy to pg or whatever you are vaping. When my own daughter was younger I had to carry an Epi-pen shot around in case she got stung by anything. It's scary. Once she got bitten by a fire ant and I had to give her CPR because she wasn't breathing. I would not want my Vape to cause anybody's child to have a horrible reaction. It may be rare, but some people do have severe allergies. Children are not always with their parents either. It's up to a everybody to respect other's spaces.

I Vape at home, in my car, around my own kids, at my Parent's house, and outside away from others. I will not Vape in restaurants where others are eating just as i don't want anyone vaping while I'm eating. I will not Vape in a store or anywhere where people may get offended. I don't really care what others think about me vaping, but I respect boundaries.

Those that Vape anywhere they feel are the very ones causing these bans in public areas. Does it matter to me? Not really, because I don't Vape where these bans are happening anyway but it causes bad publicity. Bad publicity is not what Vapers need.

Some people just feel entitled. They think smoking isn't vaping so it's ok. Maybe all the years of oppressing smokers and making us feel less than human has caused this. I understand that. I just think people need to really think twice about others. There are some who really do have allergies and although vaping is much healthier for us, it may not be so good for some.

I think you should treat it just like smoking, I dont have any need to do it in bars, ill just go outside with my friends when they smoke. Ask before doing it in someones house. And you dont need to do it in walmart. Just no. I think work is an OK place to do it depending on your job. Im in an office and dont really talk to people so I dont see an issue.

These bans are because it looks like smoking and smoking is bad.
