My refilling trick

Basicaly you put the eggs in and the dye and it spinns the color in the centrfical motion ( of course loos dye will cover the egg which is not what we want) but inside the cartos it should force the liquid to the ends with a few presses of that top button

Yeah, when I was a kid we could never afford those, but PAAS had paper versions. Didn't work worth crap, but we could afford them.

Woohoooo!! I posted this idea back on page 3 or 4 of this thread -- thrilled that it works!! Mine was dead, and I was going to replace it anyway, so I ordered another one. It's enroute being shipped right now.

using Taryn's spinning method for filling the cartos. I was getting a new salad spinner anyway, and I got it today. Wanted to post a pic of it while it's still new (and clean).

I took a stack of styrofoam plates I had in the pantry, trimmed them down to fit the salad spinner basket (about 8" or so), hot-glued them together, and then drilled holes for all my cartos. I also hot-glued a piece of braid under the bottom to make it easier to lift them out of the basket.

It holds 53 cartomizers (well, 52 since I messed up one of the holes). Here it is in the salad spinner:

I tested it first without refilling to make sure all the cartos are indeed secure. It passed the test -- none of them came loose during a 30-second spin. Then I filled the cartos with 10 drops, spun, another 10 drops, spun, and then topped off with another 5-8 drops and gave it the final spin. I am so pleased that this works great!

The main improvement I intend to make is to space the holes further apart. It was very tedious to twist them all into place so close together, and I even got a blister on my finger doing it. The fit is very tight, though, so I am overjoyed with that part of it.

Now I need to find a more durable material -- I am thinking about wood but if anybody has a suggestion, let me know. For now I am going to spray the styrofoam with a thin coat of varnish to try to protect the holes from cracking. Or can somebody think of anything else? I was first thinking clear nail polish, but not sure what that will do to styrofoam.

You could always get a thick piece of foam to use just as you did the plates. Then since you already have the braid idea there you could get some velcro pieces to stick on them and use a thinner piece of foam to just lay over the top of the carts(without holes) and put velcro on the top of that also to hook the braid piece too and keep the cartos more secure while spinning. That way it shouldn't end up getting to heavy for the salad spinner.

Thyestean, I was just in a hurry and wanted to try it first with stuff I already had on hand in the house. But a trip to Hobby Lobby or Walmart is in order. This was so simple to make, but I definitely want one that will hold up for awhile.

You never can find the right emoticon, can you? Me neither.

I have been having so much fun buying new cartos, but I really have to stop spending so much money and start refilling. I must have at least 150 empties, if not more. And with Christmas just around the corner, I'm going to have to curtail my impulse buying (well, at least a little bit).

Oh yeah I realize that. I was just making a suggestion since you had asked for some. I couldn't really think of something else off the top of my head that would be durable enough for long term without being to heavy for the spinner. Then again I've never used a salad spinner so for all I know it may hold up even with a heavier material as your base for the cartos.

I've got 35 for my old unit and only 10 so far for my V4L PT. I'll be picking up more soon though because once I get my V4L battery and PCC (thank you lgd) for on the go 10 definitely won't be enough since I'm to lazy to have to refill every couple days.

Yea ... I've been terrible about even wanting to refill -- just so darned easy to screw on a new carto. But those are starting to get expensive, especially with wanting to try every new flavor that comes out. But now that I have a way to refill 50 or so at a time ... maybe I can start following my budget a little better.

I agree with you on the styrofoam -- that's probably the most practical and most economical way to go. I love this thing -- it sure made quick work of refilling 52 cartos, so I'm set for awhile. I use an avg. of 2 a day, occasionally 3, so that's enough for almost a month's worth of vaping. But there's still the matter of wanting to try all the new flavors.

yeah I'm just the opposite actually. I'd rather buy the juice and refill. It's just the blowing the water out of the cartos after rinsing part that gets on my nerves and causes me to end up waiting until I'm down to the last one or two before doing all of the rest.

Actually now that I'm reading and looking at it again I realize just how much something like this could help. Especially if it would work to rinse them and then stick them in it without the "condoms" or "buttplug" on them to spin dry them.

I haven't started rinsing mine out yet, since I just refilled for the first time today with the same flavor, but I'll have to do it sooner or later. Plus I have tons of juices from my 901 days, so will definitely need to rinse before using some of those, since I don't have carto flavors that match.

This should work for spinning out the water. But the design would have to allow the carto to stick through the bottom of the styrofoam. I will have to keep that in mind when I make my trip to Hobby Lobby. I'm thinking a 7-8" round piece about an inch thick -- then the carto could protrude through both the top and bottom of the styrofoam.

Thanks for the ideas -- I definitely want this to work over the long-term.

Sounds good.

Although that may work and I'd definitely be interested to see if it does. If the weight of that many cartos proves to be too much for only an inch of foam you might consider using a thicker piece and making the holes deeper but with a snug fit for the cartos so that you can put them in while still leaving space beneath them for the water to have room to drain out into the foam.

Hmm. I would think this would force the liquid to the outside perimeters of the carts rather than the battery ends, as spinning them singly in a small bag does.

I was thinking the same thing Michelle! But it may work fine for all I know.

Some 3/4" MDF (multi-density fiberboard) would be nice, but heavy. Plywood is easy, but would splinter a lot.
For drainiage, just drill a smaller hole the rest of the way through your material, like a 1/8" hole all the way through after you drill the larger hole.

I was wondering that myself Michelle. They could be put in laying on the side battery end facing out of the middle if it is an issue. But like sawlight said it might be working just fine like it is.
