my throat burns

Do you inhale into your mouth and then from there into your throat and lungs, or do you direct inhale into your lungs? I found that if I try direct inhaling into my lungs I have this problem, so I do what I did with cigarettes and inhale into my mouth and from there into my throat and lungs. It could also be that your cart is getting a little dry. Also, when you are just getting started, it sometimes helps to take a drink of water (or whatever you are drinking) before you vape since it does tend to dry you out a bit.
It could be lack of liquid in the cartridge, or maybe you need to drink more water as vapor seems to irritate the throat for a lot of people.
i had this problem earlier today, just got my 510 in the mail this morning. thought nic was too high for me, but kept vaping. stopped a little while later, dont think i blew out all the primer. now its smooth as silk. thats why i asked.
Your atomizer is dry.

Dry atomizers, flooded atomizers, and wicking
Basically, you want to keep your atomizer happy with plenty of juice, but not too much as to flood it.
A good sign that it's flooded is that it gets a little harder to draw on and you get little or no vapor.
Flooding it, however, won't hurt it at all, and you can just blow out the extra juice.
Letting it get too dry, on the other hand, is not good for the atomizer supposedly.
But regardless of whether it is bad for the atomizer or not, you still don't want to do it.
You can tell it is too dry when it starts to taste like crap.
A nasty sort of burnt plastic type of taste.
One reason it might get too dry is if you burn through the juice faster than it can wick up more.
That is why people experiment with different kinds of filler materials to use in their cartridges.
If you take only a drag or two every now and then, you should be fine.
But if you use these like a cigarette, the wicking process will have trouble keeping up.
There are ways to deal with this, and people have different methods that work better for them.
And of course, when the cartridge is running low on juice, it needs topping off for this reason.

And drink more liquids! That will help nip any sore throat issues in the bud too. PG and Vg are BOTH very drying to your mucus membranes (throat, nose, eyes) but easily counteracted by imbibing a lot more liquid - side benefit will be happier kidneys
